As most quests do, they begin modestly, and most likely so would this one. Goten had talked to many of the people in the tournament, some of them had items as interesting as his own blade. He had though, originally, that his sword was simply the most unique item in the world. He had been proven wrong, though his sword was still very unique. He had decided he wanted to search for another "interesting" item. He had no idea where to start, and was simply walking around aimlessly as he thought. Finally, he saw something that gave him an idea, a library. He had also contemplated going to Baba. However, he didn't feel like any life or death challenges just to get an idea of where to go, as she mostly just gave very vague clues. That, or she would make him pay an outrageous price. Considering all of this, he quickly headed to the library, found a directory, and began looking for something on mystical, legendary, or mythical items in lore. He knew all he would find was legends, but even legends have some kind of truth to them. If nothing else, he might get at least some fun from this. |

Searching through all of the Library's knowledge, Goten finally found something of interest to him. Of course, many of the things in this library's Legend directory were of interest to him, but this one had the ring of Authenticity. Now, the Author of the book was relatively unknown to him, but that didn't make it ring any less loudly. At first, the cover implicated that this legend was of no use to him. However, the first few pages changed his mind quickly. It's not often a book references other books, like an easter egg hunt. His brow arched slightly, Goten continued to read about this 'book'. According to the source, it led the one who found it, on a chase for a mystical artifact. While the artifact had no image, or recordings, it was apperantly there somewhere. On the planet, or somewhere below. Settling himself in, Goten continued reading. " The Cradle of Benevolence, a mystical artifact, said to be located in a specific location, deep above, or below the Earth's crust, has been known to posess magical properties. Not everyone, of course, is capable of finding this artifact. Only those with a special power. " He supposed this was Ki energy. -- CHOICES: Look into this Artifact. Keep Searching. Libraries Suck. |

"Hmm....Benevolence eh?" He said to himself quietly. He decided that it couldn't hurt to look into this a bit more, even if it sounded a bit off from what he had expected to find. He first began looking at the references, attempting to find the books in the Library. He also took special note of all the information presented about the authors, at least their names and the publisher's. |

The Author of the book, was Nancy Berlin, an unknown in the writing world. It seemed independently published, and distributed through a relatively new company. In honesty, it was a good question whether anyone had ever heard of Nancy Berlin, or her company. Perhaps it was specifically made, for this one book?Or did she have others? Giving a brief check into that, at the back of the book, Goten found more interesting things. It didn't appear that there were any other books by Nancy Berlin, but there was a rather odd riddle. It seemed out of place, and written in a barely legible font. I'm the Alpha, and Omega. I am only one of these, And yet I'm neither. To find me, you'll need to be Dead Center. It seemed confusing at first, but there was a hint at the bottom of the page. It just said Location. -- CHOICES: Guess the Riddle/Figure it out. Give up, and find another book. |

"I'm the Alpha, and Omega." He said first, dissecting the riddle into pieces. "Alpha...The begining...Omega...The end... God's of religions are usually referred to by that, as they create life and take it away. Benevolence means to be kind in both giving and taking." He said, pausing before continueing. "They also originate from Greece if I remember correctly.: "I am only one of these and yet I'm neither."He continued, rising his eyebrow "The first sentence implies she is both...yet this says she is only one, but also neither. Death is often the source of a new begining, as well as an end...however it is not kind, therefore not Benevolent. Death is also subject to the theory of a god...Yet despite the god-like qualities, it is never respected as a god, or if so, a lesser one." "To find me, you'll need to be Dead Center....dead center...hmm." He said, getting up to go grab a book on greek culture, looking to see what was in the center in there culture. "Mu and New....MN?" He thought, what could MN stand for. "Dead center...." He said, leaning back. He had closed his eyes to think, but couldn't come up with anything else. He heard a sudden squeak from a swivel. Glancing over, he saw a globe, and then it struck him. "The equator...it's dead center, and it's in between two ends, the north and sound pole. It's also a direct location..." He began tracing the imaginary line known as the equator, looking for what it may cross. |

As Goten followed the line along the globe, he noticed that in the very center of the line, where it was intersected by another line, there was a very small dot. An island perhaps, too insignificant to have a name. It was afterall, Dead Center. Could this possibly be where the riddle was referring to? Perhaps the reference point for the Artifact was there, in the middle of the ocean? He wouldn't doubt it. Whoever possessed this Cradle of Benevolence, surely wouldn't want to give it up, or give away it's location. --- CHOICES: Try to Find the Name of The Island. Go To The Island. Research the Island. Switch Artifacts. |

Goten quickly went to look for a Atlas, he needed to know the Islands name so he could find out something about it. He asked a very young Librarian, a girl who was obviously very young, and couldn't have been even out of college yet. She recongnized him from the tournament as well as the many public gathering he appeared at. They chatted for awhile, mostly her gaping at meeting a famous fighter in a Library of all places. Eventually she finally walked away, quickly coming back with what appeared to be the most detailed Atlas in the Library. "This is the most comprehensive and up-to-date Atlas we have. Take care!" She said, blushing as she giggled away. He quickly sat down, not being surprised that she had known so much, as she appeared fairly "geeky". Though, he must admit, she was one of the prettier human girls he'd meet. Upon opening the book, he smiled widely. She had put her number in the book, he made sure to put it in his pocket, as he might actually call this one. Quickly getting back to business, began his search for information. |

As Goten thumbed through the book to the Geography area, he searched for the island. At first, he didn't think it was in there, until he found a small entry. It was only a sentence or two long, and it appeared that not many often visited the island. It's name was ripped from the page, as if telling Goten he wasn't to know the name. Not yet giving up, he read the entry anyway. "Varied climate, a geographical anomaly, with fierce blizzards immersed in thick jungles." Odd. - CHOICES: Visit the Island Try to Find More Info. |

"Blizzards in a jungle? What the shit?" He said, even though he had seen really strange things before, never something that completely contradicted each other in one area like that. He decided to go to one of the nearby computers to search for information. |

Googling Blizzards in The Jungle, Goten found one result that was of any relevance. Contrary Island. Fitting name. -- Freeform Choice. [/color=red] |
