Goku stared at the lake around him, watching the placid water stand almost still save for the occasional ripple here and there. He held a fishing rod in his hands, a Capsule Corporation logo emblazoned on its handle, the line already in the water, hook baited and waiting for some little fishie to take a bite. Normally, the half-saiyan boy preferred to fish with his bare hands, swimming after the fish, grabbing them, and dragging them onto land. There was just something more appealing about eating food that he had caught on his own without the help of any sort of strange tools.

It had been his mother's idea to go fishing and do something peaceful together for a change. Goku wasn't a big fan of 'peace' or 'quiet', but it wasn't so bad. Especially when Mom brought lots of treats with her. But they had yet to actually catch a single fish and little Goku was beginning to lose hope that there would be any cooked fish for dinner tonight. With a sigh, he looked away from the water to his mother, stating quite simply, "I'm bored."

Looking over, he also noticed the books that his mother had brought along. Gohan's old schooling books. No doubt she had more studying planned for the half-saiyan boy. Goku felt a temptation to tip the boat over and ruin the books, but then he also felt a twinge of guilt. If he did that, then his mother would be sad. He hated studying, but it was what she wanted him to do and she was always happy when he did his homework right. And if there was one thing Goku loved more than playing or fighting, it was seeing a smile on Mom's face.

Chi-Chi heard her son say that he was bored and took notice as Goku jr. looked at his oldest old text books. Chi-Chi smiled at her son."Don't worry you don't have to study today. However now on to the fact that your bored son you should understand that even the greatest of warriors slow down and enjoy the peace and quite. It's important that a fighter has peace and quite so that he can use this time to find balance with in himself."said Chi-Chi. Chi-Chi then reached into the basket she had brought with them. The thing that she had pulled from the basket was a apple. She then handed her son the apple. Chi-Chi then reached back into the basket and pulled a apple out for her self.

Chi-Chi then went on to eat her apple. After she was done eating the apple she put the apple core into basket so she could throw it away later. Chi-Chi then looked at her son one more time. "You know son even your father would go fishing like this in order to have some peace and quite before a big fight and even took some time off training to just kick back an relax."said Chi-Chi.

A sigh of relief left Goku as his mother told him he didn't have to study today. However, as she spoke his reassurance was replaced by confusion. Great warriors needed peace and quiet? That didn't make any sense to him. It sounded dull and pointless. Who cared about balance? Goku just wanted to be strong! He couldn't grasp the higher concepts of his father's martial art, which was probably why his father hadn't properly trained him yet. But that had not stopped little Goku Jr. from teaching himself how to fight. The boy wanted to prove, not just to his father, but also to himself that he could be strong too. Just like his brothers and the other Z Fighters.

Goku gasped in delight when his mother offered him the apple, holding the fishing rod with one hand so he could hold the apple in the other. However, the piece of fruit didn't last long to Goku's relentless hunger. He took massive bites out of it, barely leaving a core. But then he just ate that too, licking the sweet flavor from his lips and letting out a little burp.

"Dad used to fish?" Another fact that surprised and perplexed the half-saiyan, though he slowly pieced it together, "Oh! He fished so that he could wrestle with the fishes that got caught and get stronger! Okay!" Goku turned to look back at the water, staring eagerly as he waited for one of those fish to bite the hook and challenge him to a test of strength! No mere fishy was going to get away from Goku Jr. once it had fallen into his trap!

Chi-Chi let out a sigh and let out a slight laugh. The woman knew it was most likely pointless in trying to explain the deeper level of understanding that came with be a martial artist. Chi-Chi might have said lot of harsh things back in the day about being a fighter it was just that she really wanted to give her oldest son then understanding that their was a life outside of fighting. Even now with her youngest son she wanted to know about a other lifestyle other then fighting. However Chi-Chi had lighten up over the years by now."Son you father didn't fish because he wanted to get stronger he fished in order to have fun and be able to eat them. You know if you want while we are waiting for a bite I can tell a few stories about your father."said Chi-Chi. Chi-Chi then waited to see what her son had to say.

As she waited on her son Chi-Chi sat looking at the pretty blue lake and enjoying the time she had with her son. Chi-Chi her self also wonder if they would soon get a bite. Chi-chi her self wouldn't mind having some fish for supper that night. She was thinking maybe fryed or grilled fish would be good tonight. However she was having a hard time making up her mind she then thought she could always ask her son what he thought."Okay Goku what do you think we should have for supper tonight grilled or fryed fish?" asked Chi-Chi. Chi-Chi was once again waiting to see what her son had to say.

Goku wanted to just reel the line back in and cast it out again, thinking he had picked a bad area, but he had already been told before they even went on this trip that fishing required patience. But patience really wasn't one of Goku's strongest areas, though he really did try. So, he sighed and held onto the rod, waiting and hoping that one of these fish would decide to let him eat it. When his Mom asked about how he wanted to eat that hypothetical fish, he grinned and quickly replied, "Fried! They taste way better that way!"

He had heard quite a few stories about his Dad from the man himself, but he was always curious to know more. Father got to have all sorts of strange, crazy, adventures when he was young, and Goku wanted to follow in his footsteps. He wanted to be a hero just like his Dad, saving the world from evil. Turning toward Chi-Chi, Goku nodded and looked up at her before turning to face her completely. He laid on his stomach, keeping the fishing pole held firmly against his folded arm and shoulder. "Oh yeah! I'd like to hear more stories about Dad, Mom. It'll definitely make the fishing less boring!"

Chi-Chi listened when her son said that he wanted fried fish that night. Well looks like we are having fried fish tonight, thought Chi-Chi. Chi-Chi also heard that her son wouldn't mind hearing stories about his father in order to pass the time. Chi-Chi was now trying to go threw all of her memories that she had with her husband. It was taking her some time taking her some time to pick memory that she could use as a story.

As Chi-Chi went threw her many memories of her husband she finely thought of a story she could tell her son about his father. She then finally picked one that she would use as her story. She then got a smile on her face. "Well it was back during the twenty-third world martial arts tournament, both me and your father made it to the finals. It was during the finals that I had to go up against your father in one of the matches. During our match your father kept dodging my hits. It wasn't in till very close to the end of our match that your father used a attack that knocked me clear out of the ring. It was actually after our fight that your father asked me to marry him. "said Chi-Chi.

Goku looked up at his mother, listening intently. He wasn't any sort of expect at romance, he was only eleven years old, but it seemed odd that fighting would lead to marriage. But then, he didn't know any other families to compare it to. And fighting was fun, so maybe it did make sense after all? Goku grinned, asking, "Wow! You used to be a fighter, Mom? Why did you stop? Oh! Maybe you could teach me some moves, huh?"

Just a moment later, Goku felt the fishing rod tug a little. His eyebrows rose in surprise as it tugged again. He grabbed hold of it with both hands, gasping as the line began to pull away. With a determined look, Goku stood and began to try reeling in his catch. Soon his blood was pumping and the little half-saiyan grew exhilirated by the thrill of the hunt, "Oh wow! Come on! You won't get away from me, fishie!"

As he tried to turn the crank, it was steadily growing more difficult. This confused the boy, but he soon discovered the reason why when the biggest fish he had ever seen jumped above the surface of the lake and dived back down. Hanging on tight to the fishing rod, the hooked fish began dragging the boat around, pulling it this way and that, but Goku would not yield, "You aren't getting away from me! I'm gonna eat you!"

Chi-Chi was really trying to hold back a scream as the boat was being dragged by the really big fish. Chi-Chi was holding onto the edge of the boat for dear life. Chi-Chi was really now questioning why that one way or chaos is always following her and her family around. Chi-Chi has was trying to calm herself down in order to tell her son to let the fish go. It took her a few minutes but Chi-Chi was soon able to find her voice."Young man you will let go of that fish right now." order Chi-Chi. As Chi-Chi waited for her son to let go of the fish, she was starting to feel a little sea sick from the boat rocking and moving at a fast speed.

Chi-Chi was now really hoping that this crazy boat ride would come to a end very soon. Chi-Chi was also praying to whatever high leveled begins that was out would make this fish give up. Chi-Chi was pretty sure she either looked like she was really terrified or she looked really sick. Most likely she looked both terrified and sick. Her sea sickness was just going to get worsen before this ride was over with most likely.

Under most other circumstances, Goku would have obeyed his mother. But he was a fighter, and he would not let a fish make him look weak! He continued to fight, pulling the rod this way and that while their boat continued to zoom across the lake. The boat bumped into several large rocks, heavy thuds that risked breaking it, but it held. As Goku continued to fight, his aura flared up, like white flame covering him and rising higher. The boy used every ounce of strength to reel it in, slowly but surely pulling the stubborn, massive, Paozu Tuna closer to the boat. When its head came above water again, Goku was ready, dashing forward and punching it right in the face, "I respect you, fishie, but I must eat you!"

It took several more punches before the fish finally gave up the fight and Goku dragged it up onto the boat with barely enough room left for him and Mom left. It wriggled weakly, defeated, and Goku looked absolutely pleased with himself. He was victorious! No creature on water, land, or air would ever be able to stop the mighty Goku Jr.! "Wow, that's a lot of fish. Maybe we'll have enough for seconds?"

Chi-Chi was now loking at the big fish that's in front of her. Chi-Chi honestly didn't know wither she should be crying or laughing. So Chi-Chi said the first thing that came to mind after her son got done talking."I think maybe we should go home now. " said Chi-Chi. Chi-Chi picked up the both of the oars and set to work on getting them to shore. As she was rowing the boat Chi-Chi was still feeling a little sea sick. However Chi-Chi fought back her feelings of seasickness. In order to help herself get her mind off things Chi-Chi instead foucs on rowing the boat. It didn't to long after that that she got over her sea sickness and calmed down.

It wasn't long before they had made it close to shore. Chi-Chi got out of the boat and pushed it the rest of the way onto land. Once the boat was land Chi-Chi took hold of the basket and then walked around to the side of the boat where her son was sitting. Chi-Chi then looked at her son and smiled a little."You ready to go cook up this fish for supper tonight son."said Chi-Chi. Chi-Chi was now waiting to see what her son had to say.
