"Alright, then. If it still exists, then it has to be out here...Somewhere." Jay D. Malenko, stared out over the Northern Mountains, after a rather invigorating (and unnecessary) climb. After the winding road proved too long a path, the cyborg decided to choose physical struggle, over patience. Now, with a bird's eye view, he surveyed the land, searching for that source of power growth he lusted for so badly. This was his first act of progression, and a first adventure with his old mentality back in play. Jay shaded his eyes from the morning sunlight that shined with a beautifully harsh orange. His head quickly darted back and forth, as he had on the many ridges before, searching for a sign. Finally, his eyes locked onto a point of interest; an indention in the mountainside. It put a small smirk on his face, but it was nothing to get his hopes up about. As he had become painfully aware by the journey, mountains just have suspicious holes that hold nothing but disappointment, or scorch marks. But, this one had to be different. With a single leap, Jay was sliding down the rocky slope of the mountain. With a careful balance, he made great time down to his goal, and had the sneaking suspicion that it looked pretty neat. At least, up until he hit flat land again, and sent himself tumbling into the dirt, right before the hole in the mountain. "Ugh...The smoothest moves; I've gotten." "Good thing no one saw that..." He muttered to himself, in a lightly annoyed tone, as he dusted himself off. He turned his gave up, and stared in fascination, as he stared into the abscess. It dipped deeper into chilling darkness. Jay's mind raced with a sense of excitement. 'This had to be it,' he thought to himself as he stepped forward, a slight hesitation in his step. "Hellooo?" ... "I'm here for my free ticket to power...!" WC: 325 Edited by Jay D., Nov 12 2015, 02:03 PM.

The lab was dark as the entire facility was kept in a hibernation mode. Lights and fancy sounds were comforts to the living. Digital and mechanical beings did not require such things. A waste of energy in the eyes of an artificial intelligence. The vast computer mainframe continued process exorbant amounts of data. Most likely the lab itself continued to scheme, plan and design various schematics for new androids or improvements to the Red Ribbon Army. However the continual efforts of the Super Computer were interrupted. Something or someone tripped the motion sensor of the lab. The flourescent lights slowly sparked on illumiating the old laboratory. It didn't take longer than a microsecond for the artificial intelligence to notice Jay D. Malenko barreling his way into the machine sanctuary. This stranger had trespassed into digital holy ground. As Jay wandered the old lab he was led to a large cylinder designed computer, twice the height of any normal man. The internal lights to the gigantic machine hummed on and illumiated the room like a mechanical Christmas tree. A digitized raspy voice echoed out from the speakers. "Identity yourself, intruder," the artificial intelligence yelled out in a stoic tone. As the computer spoke, openings in the walls of the laboratory jutted open and revealed a mass of automated turrets that aimed their high calibur weapons towards this stranger. "Identify yourself or be terminated," the Super Computer demanded once more. WC: 241 TWC: 241 |

The situation had changed rather quickly, and for the worse. It seemed this rather opportune venture was taking a bit of a dangerous turn...but, that was to be expected. One doesn't bust into an inhumane, military center of production and not anticipate staring down the barrel of at least a couple guns. When Jay took note of the weapons, he stalled in his step, wondering what he was up against...and what he had done wrong. It took the threat of termination to finally get Jay's attention. He snapped out of his thoughts, and stared up at the computer. "Well first of all, I feel like I should have probably knocked first. Ya' don't seem to be in the best mood...I mean, is that really how you treat family?" "Eh...Maybe family is too close? If we were family, you'd be some kind of stepfather. Step-Computer? Adopted-...Never mind. Hold on, just don't shoot at me yet." "Ahem...I'm Jay D. Malenko. You might have know me as Cybernetic Initiative Subject: JD549, but...That's in the past, Dr. Gero...Computer..." "Alright, this is getting awkward. Gero! I'm not part of your Red Ribbon Army anymore, but...I still need help. I've heard about beings like me...Artificial Creations...gaining power from technological advancements. I've seen the amazing power that is achievable by a select few, and I want to surpass them all. So, I've come here. Gero! You owe me this! Some might think you stole my life away by making me a Cyborg, but I'm going to benefit from it!" "You're going to make me stronger! Take me in and advance me...and we'll call it even. Hell...I might not even hold a grudge for anymore. What do you say, Doc? Are going to help me, or what?" With his arms spread wide open, Jay gave a sharp grin as he stared up at the cylindrical source of power, awaiting one of two things; acceptance...or high-caliber rounds raining down. The Super Computer analyzed Jay’s words. The artificial intelligence did recognize the model number of android that this intruder had provided. The JD series of cybernetics was an impressive android type at the time but it had be so long since that make had been updated. The JD line had potential if the right parts and modifications were made available. But the sheer nerve this outdated android had in the face of true Red Ribbon glory was unacceptable. “Call it even?” the Super Computer asked as more compartments opened up above Jay D. Red Ribbon drones slowly crept out of each darkened nook and slowly surrounded Jay. “Not only do you break into this facility but you make demands of the Red Ribbon? Why? Because you think that is “fair”? How human of you to think that fairness has anything to do with being a powerful android.” The platoon of drones that surrounded Jay had a singular eye socket that began to glow deep red as each of them crouched into a fighting position. The turrets that were still locked on this “guest” were still prepared and ready to deal with Jay. “What makes you think that the Red Ribbon army can make you powerful? You speak like you distaste and even hate the great Dr. Gero. Why come back here for what you seek? Wouldn’t the humanitarian Cyborg Sol and his King’s Guard be a better fit for you? They pride themselves on taking in derelict models and make decent guard dogs out of them. Or what about those Final Heaven zealots? They follow blindly behind the desires of a rabid monster. But they pride themselves on strength before all else. Wouldn’t they give you what you seek or did you fail to pass their “tests”?” “Why did you drag yourself here, JD549?” The Super Computer asked coldly. WC: 311 TWC: 552 |

"Why? Well, you said it yourself! The others would turn me into nothing but a dog or a follower. I don't know about you, but I think I've already come a little too far to simply start being lead again. I refuse to follow another's morals. With you, there is no good. There is no evil." "There is simply...'The Power of Genius.'" With a sweeping hand motion for extra emphasis, Jay stared off into the imaginary horizon, envisioning the wonderful possibilities the world held...especially for those with power on their side. It was also at this moment, that the glow of the new arrivals brought with them. A menacing, and unfriendly look in each of their postures, and in their eyes. Jay shifted glances, taking stock of just how outgunned he had become in recent moments. The cyborg actually began to feel, just slightly, endangered, and began to draw back against the 'Cylinder of Knowledge.' It was only a matter of time until something pounced, or blasted his way by the look of it. With his hands drawn back behind him, he crouched into a ready position, looking to be prepared to blast straight into the thick of it. "Please, Gero...Computer. I didn't come here to start a fight, I came here for the better of you and me. We both know I could have easily gone elsewhere...Hell, I might have benefitted more from going somewhere else. But I came to you...out of the respect I have. Not loyalty...respect. I think it's better for Red Ribbon to make one more friend, than one more enemy...because thus enemy is destined for power, one way or another." "And you don't strike me as a fan of hericide...if you catch my meaning." "Now...Will you help me...or do I have to start carving my way through these scrap-bots and show them what a real Android can do?" WC: 316 TWC: 962 |

The computer’s internal lights continued to flicker on and off as it contemplated Jay’s words. The android intruder did lack manners but this model showed great potential. Jay seemed to remind the Super Computer of Androids 17 and 18. With the right directions and means, Jay could become a serious asset to the Red Ribbon Army whether he wants to or not. The drones relaxed and returned to their storage units. The automated sentry weapons lowered and concealed themselves back into the walls. The rest of the lab became illuminated as the fluorescent lights flickered on revealing the various laboratory equipment. Operation tables, schematics, android chambers and more laid in front of Jay and the Super Computer. “Your words are a sufficient answer to my questions,” the Super Computer announced. “You will need to work on your attitude if you wish to be integrated into the advanced android and robotics program. The other androids that are a part of the Red Ribbon Army do not take kindly to such insubordination. You say you desire power but...” A table of metal and machine raised from the ground in front of Jay. From the ceiling a group of mechanical arms and attachments lowered and presented themselves to Jay. Enhancements, internal circuitry, metallic exoskeletons and more was held within each cold steel arm that surrounded the android intruder. Each mechanical arm was ready to set Jay on the table and begin to work. “How dedicated are you to attain it, cybernetic unit JD549?” WC: 233 TWC: 833 (You have been accepted into the Super Computer's training. Whether or not you wish to proceed is up to you. ;-) You may submit the thread for grading after your answer.) |

A sharp smirk crept across Jay's face as the other creations began to creep out of sight. That'd be the closest thing to a firm handshake he'd get out of this computer, and he certainly knew it. With the tension in the air slowly dissipating, he stepped away from the cylindrical pillar, glad that he may not need to worry about taking a laser barrage straight through his back. He tilted his head back, shoot his grin up at the Super Computer. "You tried crushing my 'attitude' once. I doubt you'll get it this time, but...Hell, life is full of surprises." "Whoa... Speaking of which..." The sound of moving machinery made him toss a quick glance over his shoulder. He was met with a familiar sight. The gaps in his mind filled in slightly, as he recognized the metal arms that did the delicate work on (and within) subjects. The emerging bits and pieces, however, were foreign to him. Some peaked curiosity, while others seemed simply strange. No matter how he felt about the parts, one thought made him step towards them; That they were soon to be his parts. He'd known them more personally than anyone could. All combined, they'd make him stronger than ever before...and so, he accepted them. Spreading his arms out, he walked towards the mechanical arms. Almost immediately, he was being bathed in the glow of scanner lights. Each one measuring, and prepping for reconstruction. By the time he finally pressed himself against the metal table, the work was ready to begin. Jay, himself, was ready for work. With the decision made, the table locked him into position with cold restraints. The cyborg drew a deep breath as an unpleasant noise began to arise in one of the smaller arms off to his left-hand side. His eyes began to drift shut, but whether it was by his own will or the machine's was a question left unanswered. With acceptance, he let progress begin...but, not before airing another, final, unanswered question... "...Is this going to hurt?" WC: 341 TWC: 1,303 |
