![]() HANSHIN Supreme Kai of Balance Hanshin was an unusual Kai, while at the very same time, being a very run-of-the-mill Kai. Unbeknownst to most, Kai live what other races might consider to be a 'boring' life; theirs is the job of maintaining Order in the Universe, and hurling their numbers at whatever forces threaten the sanctity of the divine Balance that kept everything where it needed to be: Heaven as Heaven, Hell as Hell, Other World as Other World, and so forth. He was unusual in the fact that he had formerly served as a Bodyguard for a previous Guardian of Earth, a very long time ago. He had also served as an impromptu Guardian of Earth himself, although only as a stand-in, never as a full-fledged candidate for a full term. Hanshin didn't know who had delegated any of these roles to him, he had just somehow....known. He had known, innately, what his purpose was, when it was, and where it was. When that purpose was fulfilled, he would intuitively be compelled towards the location of the area he needed to do his next deed at. Everything from ensuring that a child of immense power didn't range out of control and destroy the Earth, to watching over a family in the Country, nothing more than farmer folk, who were being threatened by some force, and were at-risk of dying before their due time. The Kai race were Divine, and yet they could breathe (if they opted to), eat (again, if they opted to), and traverse the Other World and Living World with the same degree of ease. Unlike some, however, there was a point where he could no longer feel the innate Calling that had always come to him, telling him where he the Cosmic Powers-That-Be needed him next. It wasn't that he had become numb to it, but he had not met any other Kai - and, surely, there were others, his Kaioshin instincts told him - and had therefore never been told much about their Race, about their Purpose, besides the knowledge that naturally trickled through the Fruit they were born to. So, too, was the Golden Fruit possessing of that Divine Knowledge, when Hanshin was born from it, and yet he had not been Called in a long time. So, he had spent the past several centuries just wandering around the Earth, performing various good deeds, while maintaining a low profile. The Kai weren't meant to be a conspicuous race, and their Hand in affairs in the World of the Living was meant to be kept minimal. But, for Hanshin, his biggest reason was that he did not want anyone to get used to his presence next to them, nor to become dependent upon him, when the time came that he was Called once more to perform his sacred duty. But, today..... He didn't know what had called him here. He didn't know this place was called Gatz's Haven, nor did he know the history behind it. However, something - not The Calling, but something more in his own instincts - had told him that he had a purpose here, or - more to the point - he could find a purpose here. He stood on a high hilltop, within the City's borders, but right on the outskirts, gazing at the vast metropolis that stood before him: ![]() The scenery was beautiful, and it amazed him just how complex and Hi-Tech all of the structures seemed to be. He could feel the resonant hum, due to his sensitive Kai spiritual perception, the vast and countless currents of harnessed electricity that coursed through the city. He could feel the Presence of people within the cities, even hear the occasional conversation, once about 30 meters away, and again later at 267 meters away. People were going about their daily lives, and somewhere here, somewhere, was the place that would help him find a purpose to occupy his time on Earth with. Without a word, he hopped down from the peak of that tall hill, falling about seventy feet before touching down silently upon a patch of concrete below, a plume of air pressure softening his landing. He began his slow tour of the city, walking around it, decked out in his custom-tailored Combat Armor he had manufactured himself, based on designs in a comic he had read awhile back. He was a bit shorter than the people he occasionally passed by, a mere 5'3", or 160cm, but height and weight had never really been something he spent a lot of time thinking about, so it didn't bother him. If anything, it just made this big, vast City even more breathtaking... |
