The suspects were few, but broad. He couldn't say who exactly, but the two groups he was looking at were the Red Ribbon Army, and the Black Bow Army. He could see both of them benefiting from his removal, however he couldn't really see either of them leaving him alive. Perhaps they were testing something, and he could have been one of many to have been tested on. It didn't seem very likely that either of these organizations was doing this just for fun. They were very serious about their work, and were not likely to play games. Perhaps, Lagi thought, this was the work of a yet to be discovered organization. "I can't rule out any possibility just yet." Lagi admitted. He didn't have a lot to go on. He was drugged, that was a definite. Whoever did it had access to some high end equipment, because the traces in his bloodstream were strange and unknown concoctions. He recalled the effects he'd been feeling after waking up, and it was nothing out of the ordinary for someone who'd been drugged. He was groggy, had a strange taste in his mouth, and it was dry, and he felt mild tingling in his extremities. He could not rule out the possibility it was someone he knew, either. Though, he couldn't think of anyone he had a hand in putting away that would come back and do something like this. Most of the baddies he caught were more or less idiots. The few people he'd caught that were intelligent, were still locked up. Only someone smart would be arrogant enough to think they could get away with murder, after all. Stupid people killed out of anger, it was the thinkers that were the premeditated murderers. However, he had checked to make sure the few killers he'd put away were in fact away. "Gah!" Lagi sighed, "Even if it was one of those murderers, why wouldn't they just kill me?" He asked out loud, running his fingers through his hair. He had no idea what someone's desire to keep him out like that would be... unless... "Maybe they just wanted me out of commission for awhile while they committed a murder. It could explain why they didn't kill me, if they killed me it might make it look too suspicious. However if they put me in some Rip van Winkle-like sleep, then they get off clean." Lagi thought out loud. It made sense. He had to look into cases in the last few months, because it wasn't likely he was looking for a murder. He was probably looking for an accident, or even a suicide that could have actually been a murder. Someone who knew Lagi was an outstanding detective, and he would be the only one able to crack open the case and show it wasn't a suicide or an accident. It was a worrying thought, because god's only knew how many suicides and accidental deaths were recorded in the last few months. He was going to have to do a lot of reading. Lagi had a motive, now he just needed to find some suspects. It was impossible for whoever it was to cover up all of their trails, wasn't it? All he had to do was look for strange coincidences. Whoever did this, probably went to great lengths to make it look like an accident or a suicide. So much so that they'd likely have an alibi for the time of the death, as well as witnesses to discover the body, and to say he couldn't have done it. it was going to be a pain in the ass, but he knew he'd find this guy, one way or another. This was no move by some organization, this was an elaborate effort by a single person. The Red Ribbon Army and Black Bow Army still stood, for now. He had no cause to go blowing up their headquarters or anything like that. However, he knew it was an inevitability. They couldn't be allowed to exist forever. It just wasn't going to happen. However, Lagi still had a lot of training to do before he took on a job like that, and right now this took precedence. WC: 702 TWC: 702 |
