"Leave her, I doubt she'll bother us anymore now..." said Tapion, giving the demon chick another look. She was still pinned against the rock wall with the sword through her chest, but she hadn't missed a beat or lost a step. She was still growling and thrashing about wildly, trying to get free so she could attack them. Liza was a little more apprehensive about it, but she trusted Tapion's judgement and his confidence. If he wasn't worried about her, then she doubted she needed to be either. "Alrighty, after you," she said, turning her attention back toward the Konatsian Knight. Raygun was already putting distance between herself and the demon bitch and the warrior decided it was best to follow suit. They still had a long way to go and his little brother was out there somewhere, waiting for him. He looked around, realizing that Liza's shortcut had indeed cut a good chunk of their travel time down and he nodded in approval of this development. "Good call on the shortcut... we'll make it much quicker now," he said with a soft smile. Turning his back on the demon bitch, the hairs on the Knight's neck stood up when he suddenly heard a scream. "Tapion, look out!" cried Liza, noticing the demon bitch was up to no good. She had charged up some sort of wicked fire ball attack in her throat and suddenly opened her mouth, spewing the blast forth aimed at Tapion. It would surely incinerate the swordsman where he stood, but not if the shinobi could help it. She moved like lightning and a shadow, shoving the swordsman from Konats out of the way and causing the fireball to miss. The blazing attack rushed off into the distance, before impacting with a mountain and lighting the whole hillside ablaze. Liza rolled back to her feet, ripping a single kunai into view and slinging it with deadly accuracy. The sharp blade pierced right into the forehead of the demon girl, pinning her head against the rock wall and killing her instantly. Her endless wailing fell silent at last and her body slumped, hanging now from Tapion's sword and the kunai that pinned her head. The swordsman had picked himself up and was still trying to process exactly what had happened. He looked from the blazing mountainside, to Raygun, to Liza, and finally to the recently deceased and pursed his lips in understanding. "Thanks..." he said, realizing that the shinobi had saved his ass. He dusted himself off briefly, before stepping over to the demon girl and ripping his blade out of the wall. The girl's weight dropped, but the kunai pinned in her head kept her hanging from the wall. Tapion nodded, impressed by the shinobi's strength and he turned back to give her a grin. "Nice shot." His compliment caused the girl to blush and she quickly turned away, heading off down the path. They were back out on the mountain pass now, but they were headed downhill now. The shortcut had cut half a day's time off their travel at least and she was feeling on top of the world. Other than that little hiccup with the demon cave dweller, things had gone rather well. "I've never gone this far before, so the rest is up to you now..." she explained, waiting for Tapion to catch up with her. The swordsman stepped up beside her, handing over her bloodied kunai. The shinobi looked down at it and smirked, taking it from his hand and wiping the blood off on the material covering her torso. She spun the kunai around her finger and re-holstered it in her pouch. She pulled another item into view, that Tapion was yet to see. The female lit up a cigarette and took a long, satisfying drag. Tapion lifted a single eyebrow, before turning his sights back to the fire on the mountain side. "We should put that out before we move on, don't want it to spread down the mountain and end up burning our asses..." The others seemed to agree and they set out to take care of their next task. So far, they were making one hell of a team. WC: 731 TWC: 8,793 |

After they had put the blaze out, the group decided to take another break. They had been through a lot since entering into the mountain and wandering through the cave systems. It was a lot of work, journeying across the land in search of someone's brother, but Liza was happy to do it for Tapion. There was something about the man, something about his determination and the look on his face. It made her want to follow him anywhere and she had the utmost confidence in his abilities. She wanted to be close to him and get to know him better. She had learned a little, but it was still just the tip of the iceberg. Raygun spun a small circle and quickly laid down in the dirt, getting comfortable. Tapion plopped down on his ass and leaned back on his elbows, using them to prop up his torso. He hung his head back slightly, staring up at the sky above and looking at the twinkling stars. The night had grown long and soon the sun would be rising over the horizon. They had made good time during the first leg of their journey and the Konatsian swordsman was happy. He knew that somewhere out there his brother was waiting and he couldn't wait to reunite with the boy. Liza was still puffing on her cigarette when she joined Tapion. Sitting down beside him, she stared at the man and smiled amid her drags. She blew her exhaled out of the corner of her mouth, as to not smoke out the Konatsian too much. He didn't seem to mind the smoke, but she didn't want to blow her drags right in his face. It was a rude thing to do and she felt like so far, they were getting on rather swimmingly. The mountainside was still smoking from the fire they had put out, but the air was chilly. It was clear that the sun would be rising soon and Liza had the chills. Her bits of exposed flesh had the goosebumps and she shivered. Tapion noticed the movement out of the corner of his eye and lowered his gaze to the woman sitting next to him. He noted the smoke trailing out of her nostrils and the side of her mouth and he pursed his lips in thought. "Mind if I get a drag off that?" he asked, surprising the woman. She was caught completely off guard, but her mind was still running on some sort of basic motor skills and she handed over the cigarette. The Konatsian swordsman took the cig up in his grasp and lipped it, taking a long hard drag off the smooth cylinder. The tobacco crackled audibly as it burned down and the smoke filled his mouth, throat and lungs. He pulled the drag deep into his lungs, before plucking the cigarette away from his lips and exhaling the thick toxic smoke into the night air. The smoke rolled and danced upward, ascending into the heavens and lofting ever upward for all time. He grinned and extended his hand toward the shinobi, offering her the remainder of her cig back. She eyeballed the little that was left above the brown speckled filter and waved her hand in a dismissive manner. "All yours," she said quietly, before turning her eyes toward Raygun. This guy was just full of surprises, wasn't he? WC: 593 TWC: 9,386 |

Tapion finished up what little was left of the cigarette, before flicking the butt to the dirt. He shifted his leg slowly and heeled the butt into the ground, smooshing it good and well to ensure the lit tobacco was put out and there wouldn't be any more fires raging up on the mountainside. Raygun had all but fallen asleep by now and the swordsman looked at her with a loving gaze. He wanted to get moving, but he was tired and the air was growing more and more cold. Perhaps it would be best if they just camped out for the rest of the night and resumed their trek in the morning. "What do you think Liza, should we camp out here for the rest of the night?" His question found the shinobi's ears and she turned her head to him curiously. Perhaps it was a good idea. After all, they were all really tired and had been going on and on without much rest. This sounded like as good of a time as any to call it a night and curl up, so the female ninja agreed. "Yeah... sounds good, any preferences on where? We should at least move off the path a little bit, just to avoid getting in anyone's way, should they come hiking through here in the middle of the night." She joked, knowing that no one would be around besides them, but admittedly liked the idea of a little privacy from the road. Though they had agreed to rest a little while, they all knew it wouldn't be for long. They would be up again by the time the sun began to climb up in the sky. After all, there was no rest for the wicked and they were three of the most wicked people around, though they hadn't fully gotten to know one another just yet. "Yeah, let's head off the path a little ways, see if we can find somewhere a little more comfortable." Tapion didn't want to disturb Raygun's rest, so he walked over, knelt down and scooped the pooch up in his arms. She wiggled just a little, before realizing it was Tapion that had her and she relaxed, hanging her head and allowing the Konatsian to carry her wherever he may. When he and Liza found a good spot off the beaten path and behind the cover of some foliage, the decided to set up their makeshift camp there and the Knight laid the k9 down softly in the grass. He then found his own spot to call bed and began stripping some of his items off so he could get more comfortable. He laid everything out, but kept his sheathed blade in hand, laying down with it still in his clutches. He never wanted to leave it out of reach in the event he needed to wake up and spring into action. There was no telling what might happen out on the road, but Tapion knew from experience, that it could be a very cold and very merciless place. He sighed heavily and did his best to relax on the cold earthen bed. When his eyelids began to close, he thought he'd be drifting off to sleep soon, but was surprised to feel someone laying down beside him. He peeked through slightly opened eyelids, expecting to see a white furred dog curling up beside him. To his surprise, it was not Raygun this time, but the female Shinobi, Liza. She gave him a quick glance as she laid down next to him and scooted a little closer. "Don't get too excited pal... it's cold out here," she teased. Tapion grinned and laid his head back, relaxing and closing his eyes. Raygun didn't take long to come curl up on the other side of the swordsman and the trio spent the night snuggling up together, keeping warm in the chilly mountain air. They weren't the most high tech or well prepared team, but at least they had each other. Together, it seemed like they could make it through anything. The next stop once they made it out of the mountains was the wasteland desert, where many more dangers were awaiting them. Hopefully they would make it to the Land of Korin in one piece. When the sun finally rose and the air began to warm up again, Tapion was the first to crack his eyelids open and get a look at the world. He found that the sky was blue and the mountain peaks had the sun's rays kissing them gently. It was beautiful and majestic. His eyes then found the sight of Liza's face, nestled up close against him. He smiled softly, almost remembering what it felt like to have a family. If only Minosha were here... WC: 834 TWC: 10,220 |
