She heard his words, if that was what he wanted that is what she would give him her all as she would begin to charge up even further as she began to gather Ki once again with her hair beginning to grow longer and longer with the massive amount of energy beginning to move in waves out of her body before she finally reached her next level with her shouting and releasing a ki wave around her body blasting dirt grass and rock away from her as she looked at Gohan and smiled before she would quickly once again rush toward him, she was not sure if this was enough but she would still try as her fists and her feet began to aim for various parts of her body, she was much stronger and faster then she had been but compared to Gohan it was not even close. She would continue this before she would jump back pulling her hands back she would say something familiar to Gohan as her words would begin to ring out with the glow forming in her hands. "KAAAAAAMEEEEEEEHAAAAAMEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAA." The large blast was heading straight toward Gohan she was sure he could block it as she would continue to fire the beam toward him, this was her training she had gotten stronger and Gohan would see the fruits of her labor, her determination to no longer be a back round character.

Where ever the power was coming from to say Gohan was shocked by it all would have been an understatement. He never once in his life second guessed Videl's fighting prowess. He knew just how fierce and determined she was since the first day they had meet. But what was happening at that very moment was something completely different. It was on a whole other level. It appeared that the divorce had given her the drive and motivation to train harder than she ever did before. And thus somehow, someway Videl had unlocked the kind of power that could very well rival his own.

And as Videl came right back at him, that point was made quite clear. Again he was on the defensive, doing his best to block and avoid damage. Despite agreeing to trade fists, Gohan had no real intention in actually fighting his Ex. He understood Videl was simply using their current predicament as a means to vent all her frustrations, and he also had his own frustrations. But he did not see the good in attacking the woman he still loved, no matter how critical the situation was becoming.

Even when Videl called upon a move that Gohan had not thought was possible for her, he still refused to fight. And so when the Kamehameha came right at him, Gohan simply put his hands out and meet it head on, open palms pushing back against the energy wave.

"Enough Videl! You made your point! But at what cost?"
Gohan said as he slowly walked forward, pushing the Kamehameha back towards Videl.

Gohan kept marching forward inch by inch as he battled with the blue energy wave, gritting his teeth the entire way.

"This was never about you being weak or feeling inadequate. Least not to me, Videl! I loved you no matter if you could hold your own in a fight or not. That's what you obviously didn't get. You think coming back and showing me how much you improved as a fighter is suppose to change things?"

Gohan was just mere inches away from Videl as he looked right up into her eyes.

"I love you Videl. Not because you can fight or because you can do things that you never could before. I loved you for being just who you are. You don't need to prove anything to me, Videl. You never had too. That's what you don't get. You feel like you disappointed me. That you failed me in someway and you couldn't be any wronger. You never failed me, Videl. You never disappointed me! In fact when you walked away, I was the one that failed. I was the disappointed one. For you were the treasure I let slip through my fingers. I loved you to no end and I didn't fight for you to stay."

The Kamehameha was still pressing down on Gohan as he stood his ground, looking at his Ex with such sorrow.

"And for that I'm truly sorry Videl!"

She watched as her attack was knocked away by Gohan he had gotten even stronger as she let out a sigh still it seemed he understood she had become so much stronger and had become a very powerful woman. However as always Gohan was unfair as he began to talk about how much he loved her and finally after all this time he said it was his fault she had left, he let her slip away and still loved her with all his heart. She stood and stared at Gohan as tears began to flow down her face, he was so unfair to say something like this out of no where, how could she react to him saying this, as her transformation would end she would continue to cry into her hands as she would fall to her knees, he was really unfair saying something like that now after all of this time.

"You are so unfair Gohan... you say this now... when you could have said all this before... stupid... moron... dummy.... idiot... stupid....I hate you... I want to hate you.... I cant... I just cant hate you... I felt so weak... to you but even now I am still so far behind you...You... just are not fair... to say all this now...but... now I fell for you all over again... and your getting married... your so unfair Gohan..."

She continued to cry, she had no idea how to feel, was this some sort of bully tactic if so it was very effective, Videl was always emotionally charged and he knew this maybe this was a tactic to lower her guard, but looking up at him could only make her cry more, such a bully he was to make her feel this way after all this time. She would stand up as she would walk over to Gohan before simply doing what she wanted she would pull him quickly to her and plant a strong passionate kiss on his lips before pulling her lips away and using her hands to hit int his chest, it was so unfair he said all of this but what could she do. He was no longer available yet he had said all these things to her, how was she supposed to react, what could she even say to him.

"You are such a bully... you arr simply being mean... I cant fall for you again... you have someone else... and now you suddenly say the words you should have said in the past... I never even got with anyone else after we broke up... I... for some stupid reason always thought maybe it could work out someday if I stood on equal footing with you... instead you got even stronger so I am even further away... I... cant hate you... I want to hate you to help me get stronger... but I just cant keep forcing myself to hate you...As... for the ring... that was a fake ring I crushed... the real one... is right here..."

She would pull the real wedding ring out of her pocket and show it to Gohan, even when she was so angry she could never crush a ring like that... in reality... she had always hoped... deep in hr heart it could work out someday, she was sure he would want the ring back. She would wait to see if he asked for it back, if he did she would give it back, after all it was his ring and if he wanted it back what right did she have to refuse She simply smiled through her tears, she had lost her gamble and simply could not hate him or fake it anymore.

Gohan did not know what to say or even how to react. First hearing Videl's little emotional rant than feeling her lips against his only to feel her fists hammering into his chest then came the tears. Gohan's head was spinning as if he just went through an intense spin cycle or something. He tried to gather his thoughts, searching for the right words to say but nothing seemed to fit the situation. What made it even more awkward was Videl seemed to be just as flustered and confused. Why did it have to be so damn complicated.

If only Videl knew the truth. If only she understood the roller coaster of a life the last several months had been for him. He had lost Videl only to gain Shauna, finding love when he thought love had long since left him. And he was happy, that was true. Happiest he ever had been since he was with Videl. But then fate had to be cruel again. It had to rip Shauna from him, just when he thought things were finally going to be right again.

He didn't know how to tell her Videl even know if he could. How could he tell his Ex-wife, his first true love, that it was true that he found someone else, but the world took her from him in the end. How would Videl take it? How would she react? Would she hate him even more? Call him more nasty names? Would the tears stop or grow heavier?

These and many more questions ran through Gohan's head as he struggled with the approach.

Then the ring was revealed. The ring that Gohan had started it all. The ring that Gohan had been lead to believe that Videl had destroyed right in front of his eyes. Gohan stared at the ring. Just stared.

A rush of angry swept over him but he fought it back down. Then a sweet deep sorrow came upon him. Which he suppressed as well. His eyes stung with the prospect of tears. That was a much more difficult battle to win.

"So...it was all staged?" Gohan finally asked, finding the strength to do so, "Why Videl? Why did feel the need to hurt me like that? Why Videl? Why?"

Gohan could feel the tears burning his eyes as he continued to fight them back. He looked at Videl and all he could see was confusion and even more confusion.

"I don't get it, Videl. Did you really feel our relationship was so bad you had to concoct such an elaborate dance just to break my heart, so you could break up with me, all because you were jealous of me?"

Gohan felt the emotions all rushed back into him as he did his best to fend them off. It hurt him so much. He did not know where to begin. And as he stared right into Videl's eyes, as if peering into her soul, Gohan let out a deep sigh.

"I'm not getting married."

She listened to him rant on it was not staged, she simply did not have the heart to crush the ring the two had shared together, that was when she noticed his emotional state getting worse he said he was not getting married leaving her very confused, why would he not marry the woman he loves, she had no clue but one thing was certain. She had so many questions for him as she could feel her emotions still welling up as she snapped her eyes to his still angry and sad with him, he just did not get it she was sorry and he only made her feel worse would her death satisfy his obsession with blaming her.

"What do you want from me... would you be happy if I just died, maybe I should just end my life maybe then you would finally forgive me... you just don't get it.. I am trying so hard not to be mean but you make it impossible Gohan.. you just do not understand anything. Maybe it is better if I just disappeared forever maybe that way you can pretend I never existed... you said you love me yet you just blame me and never blame anything on yourself... its not fair you are supposed to take some blame as well... instead you just beat me with anger and hatred... what do you want from me... WHAT."

Her eyes still filled with tears as she finished yelling at him, how could she deal with him, she did not hate him but he tried to hard to push her away it made it hard for her to step back into his life, she felt she only had one choice and that was to either beg his forgiveness or just leave forever, he was not willing to accept her cries of sorrow. She felt so torn on what she could do, he was being so unfair yet she had no choice but to go with him, as she wiped tears from her eyes and stood up looking into Gohan's eyes.

"So tell me what you want from me and why not get married I heard shes a good woman, better then me from what others said... so why not... why not just tell me to go away forever and never to see you again.. thats what you want isn't it."

Gohan could not speech as if the words choking the back of his throat, refusing to be released. The pain was almost too much to bear. His heart pounding with such sorrow, such agony. In all his time spent with Videl, the two of them had never had a fight. They never argued. They certainly never screamed and shouted at each other. Yet here they were. Emotions high, the intensity in the air thick and unwavering. Gohan could just not understand. It was all too confusing. Such complication to a relationship that had been so simple.

Videl and Gohan loved each other. There were meant to be together. Least that's what Gohan had believed. Videl was his world, but then the world crushed him, leaving him there to die. But Gohan rose from the grave, alive but hurt, forever marked with doubt. It still was hard for him to understand why Videl did what she did. It didn't make any sense to him. That was not the Videl he had grown to love and respect. And as she stood there, tears running down her face, the anguish visible in her eyes, her lips quivering in uncertainly, Gohan sighed in defeat. What was he suppose to say?

How could he possibly tell Videl?

"You have no idea what I want!"
Gohan finally found his voice again, and it was harsh and sharp, "I wanted you, Videl! I always wanted you! And if that hadn't been made clear when we were taken then I'm sorry, Videl. I'm sorry you didn't know just how much you meant to me. But you were everything to me, Videl."

Gohan was now the one fighting back tears as he tried his damnest to hold it together.

"I don't hate you Videl. I love you. And that's why it hurts so much. Don't you get that, Videl?"

Taking a step forward, Gohan was willing himself on as he looked right into Videl's eyes. He didn't know what else to say. Fortunately he got choked up again, unable to speak. And for a few moments, there was nothing but silence.

Videl truly did not know the truth. The truth about Shauna and her death, and why since then he had been trapped in a vicious cycle of depression and rage. That he was smiling on the outside but dying within. And truthfully, Gohan didn't even believe he could tell her. Least not now. Not when she was just as much as a wreck as him.

They could have stood there for hours on end and argue back and forth, nitpicking every little detail, but Gohan would be damned if he allowed Videl slip through his fingers again. He meant it when he said Videl was his world and that his love for her never faded away.

And if she needed proof, he was more than willing to show her.

In an instant, Gohan was upon her, he pulled her into him.

"I want you!"

And he sealed that statement with a kiss.

She listened to his words of pain as he said she did not understand as she was ready to argue again he suddenly pulled her in and began ti kiss her, she tried to push at first but eventually her arms went limp as she pulled him in. This was not fair he was such a cheater how can she fight this with him saying he wanted her. He had won there was no way she could resist this at all, he was such a unfair man but that man was the only one she had ever loved and likely the only man she ever would. She pulled her lips away with her face flushed red, Gohan was just so unfair as she let a small smile cross her face as she wiped the tears from her eyes.

"I... don't want you to cheat with me on that other girl... so nothing will happen until it is over with her okay... as for me... I have not seen anyone sense we broke up... I... only really loved you...I am sure you knew that already...So... what do we do now... I mean... I... am unsure what to do... this is new again to me... I am sure your family will be happy... and I only hope... we can be happy together... with a new understanding and with you understanding I dont plan to be a house wife when I have got this strong..."

She simply smiled her heart was racing and her mind confused but she did feel sorry for the other girl, she would lose Gohan to his ex and she knows if that was herself she would be devastated, and hate everything because of it. Gohan was her love though, so she was willing to fight to have him even if it meant making this other girl really angry, Videl still had no clue she was dead. She had a lot she did not understand and this was one of the things, her lack of understanding was killing Gohan inside most likely but he was to blame as well for not explaining.

As Videl pulled away from the kiss, flustered and baffled as he expected, Gohan smiled at her. It was only for a moment but it was enough to comfort the woman in front of him. There was a pause, brief but powerful as the two seemed to be fixated on each other's glaze. And even after Videl spoke, voicing her concerns, her worries, her desires, Gohan did not break that glaze. He wanted to say something but again his words choked him silent. A lot had changed since their divorce. A lot that Gohan had not foreseen. Both good and bad.

Yet, right there and then. None of that mattered. All that he cared for. All that he yearned for was Videl. He wanted Videl back. He needed her back. To hold her in his arms once again and this time he would never let her go. That was what he wanted her to understand. For her to realize. Which meant he had to tell her. He had to open up once and for all about Shauna. Both the good and the bad, and especially the bitter end.

His eyes slowly cast themselves downwards as he was afraid. He hadn't felt such fear since he was a little boy caught in the wilderness as Mister Piccolo tried to prepare him for Vegeta and Nappa.

What would Videl think? How would she handle what he was going to tell her?

He took in a deep breath and sighed. It was now or never.

"Videl...there is something I need to tell you...something you may not like...but you have to hear it," Gohan started to say, his voice sounding foreign to him. He almost started to stop himself from continuing but then he lifted his head and saw the look Videl was giving him. He had to go on, "Listen...it's true after you left I ended up finding someone else. Her name was Shauna. She was a saiyan hybrid like me. She was seeking out Vegeta to help her out, but well...one thing lead to another...and we started dating. And before I knew it, we were talking about marriage and planning a wedding..."

Again Gohan's voice trailed off as he struggled with what he was saying. The pain of it all. All the memories flooding into his mind. It was almost too much for him to bear. Yet he pushed on through.

"She got pregnant...twins...a boy and a girl, names Daihan and Kyuuri...they are so cute and so precious..." Gohan got teary-eyed as he spoke about the newborn twins, "I know they will grow up to be such good kids...but see Videl...they will grow up...without their mother....because you see Videl...the reason why I'm not getting married to Shauna...the reason why I stand here full of hatred and all this pain...is because Shauna...Shauna...she's....she's..."

Gohan continued to fight back the tears as he looked right at Videl. He had to say it.

"Shauna died, Videl. Her heart gave out during the birth of the twins. And I had to buried her afterwards."

She listened to him as he held her and then she found out the horrible truth of it all, the reason he had been so emotional and the reason he was not with the woman she had died giving birth as Videl's heart sunk. So this was his reason for being so emotionally charged as she pulled him in holding his head into her chest, her hand would rub his hair like she used to do to calm him down. He had two more kids to take care of as a single parent but there was no way she would leave him alone to take care of two babies as she lifted his head up and stared into his eyes, her eyes filled with determination as she would help him raise these two babies properly.

"Listen Gohan... I cant ever fill that void... I cant imagine what you are going through but... I will help you raise the two children they deserve to have a mother in their life and I love you... we were not together so I have no right to be mad you found someone else you had loved. I will be with you from now on, I wont ever leave again Gohan... so let us start over... we can be back with the ones we always loved... this time with more understanding for each other alright."

She continued to hold Gohan tight, to hear about that loss was heartbreaking it was no wonder Gohan was such a mess and it explained much of the issues he had when he was talking to her this time they could work things out properly and he understood she would not be a house wife but a martial artist as well. He seemed like he would understand this time making her happy, she was excited for this new chance but she also knew she had a lot of work ahead to help heal the deep wounds in Gohan's heart.

Gohan's head rested on Videl's chest as he could heard her sweet heartbeat against his ear, her fingers lazily but comfortingly running through his jet black hair. It had been such a long time since he was held in her arms. He had missed it, much more than he had lead himself to believe. It felt strange, awkward and a bit surreal. But it also felt so right. In all the talk of finding soulmates, that perfect person that you just know was meant for you, Gohan thought he had found that person in Videl. And for years, it seemed to be true. Then the divorce shattered that belief.

Shauna restored that belief, but her death once again put it in severe doubt. But now in that moment, with Videl holding him tight, refusing to let go. That once strong undeniable truth he had was swelling up inside of him. He knew it was going to be a tough road ahead. He understood that it wouldn't be fixed overnight, but he was willing to try. So was Videl. For they were indeed soulmates. That was now clear. Fate may have broken them apart but it also brought them back together, and Gohan would be damned if he let her leave this time around.

Gohan still loved Shauna, and he would always love her. But he also loved Videl and always would. Just like she would always love him. Destiny was theirs to share together.

Her soft lovely voice confirmed that.

Perhaps they would be hope after all. Perhaps it seems the dark storm that had came into his life was over. The rainbow above, shining through the murky clouds, letting him know that everything was going to be okay.

"I love you Videl," Gohan said just above a soft whisper, lifting his head up to look her in the eyes once again, a small warm smile appearing on his face, "I love you and that will never change."

There was still sorrow in his eyes and agony in his chest. But there was a seed of joy as well. It was small and nearly invisible to the naked eye but it was there. All it needed was to be nurtured and encouraged to grow. And Videl was the gardener. And that was enough to let Gohan know that despite it all, there was always a silver lining. All you had to do was look for it.

The two lovers stared silently into each other's eyes for what seemed like a lifetime but was only just a matter of seconds. But in those few long precious seconds, a whole new level of understanding was formed between the two of them.

And the dam finally broke.

Once again Gohan was upon Videl like a raging fire. The intensity of the emotions flowing through him driving him to such aggressive actions, pulling Videl into him once again as their lips locked up hungrily with each other.

Gohan didn't need to say a single word, he could still read Videl like one of his many books. She wanted him just as badly as he did. And as he lifted her off the ground, seizing hold of her hips before squeezing her rear with a gentle firmness. With all his recent training especially, Gohan was able to hold her off the ground with ease. But that was not important at the moment. All he cared about was Videl. His one true love.

Their lips were fierce, attacking each other as if trying to make up for all that time apart from each other. Old friends embracing each other. The atmosphere was thick with such sexual tension. And as Gohan pressed her up against a tree, Videl squealed in delight.

For though Gohan had been able to find someone since the divorce, Videl had revealed that she had been all alone. Waiting for Gohan.

Videl no longer had to wait. He was not going anyway. Not now. Not ever again.

And as he assaulted the tender spot between her neck and shoulder, Gohan could feel her heart fluttering, letting him know that she heard this message loud and clear as she clawed at his training Gi, whimpering in a lustful heat.

Gohan was so caught up in the moment, he had forgotten they were outside, not that it would have mattered anywhere. Still the birds seemed to sing for them as the two continued their intimate embrace. The sun above smiling down upon them.

A tug here, a pull there. A moan. A heavy pant. A soft beg. A firm plead.

The slow erotic dance of former flames bursting back to life.

When it was all said and done, the two leaning against the tree, still savoring each other's taste, all was right in the world again.
