The sun rose, coming through one of the windows in Ringo’s hut, that night he had slept extra hard. All the training he was doing had been getting to him, he had been sleeping most of his life away, at least twelve hours a day recently, he had been getting powerful, but it just seemed everyone around him was on another level entirely. He was beginning to get discouraged as he walked out of his hut, Budo walking up next to him, jumping up onto his leg. He knelt down to gently pet his head, looking out at the sea, just in time to see the massive wave slowly moving towards him, he looked up at the wave, it looked like it was going to take the entire island chain out. He quickly knelt down, cupping his hands next to himself, “Kamehame-” he threw them out forward, “HA!” The blue wave flew out from his palms, slamming into the wave, slowing it and shrinking it a bit, but not doing enough to stop it. He quickly knelt down and picked up Budo, flying up high into the air, looking down just in time to see the water tear his hut down. It hadn’t destroyed as much as he expected, his kamehameha had helped a little, but not enough. He growled at himself, angry that his training hadn’t even made him strong enough to save his only home. “Dammit!” He screamed as he exploded in anger, flying as fast as he could to the mountains, trying to isolate himself, he went deep into the rage, far from Goku’s house and whatever else might be going on up there, he was going to train, and it was not going to be interrupted, dammit. He found a nice cave and flew into it, letting Budo jump out of his arms onto the floor. Ringo looked around at the mountains, then sits down, crossing his legs. He closed his eyes and focused as hard as he could, he took long, deep breaths as he moved the energy from one part of his body to another. He had to teach his body to move and use energy efficiently, as he had been told many times by his old master, Krillin, “Physical strength is only half the battle.” The other half of course was mental strength, he knew he had to focus all of that saiyan rage inside of him, he needed to use it to his advantage, let it fuel his fighting. He needed to learn to pace himself, as well, not throw everything he had at an opponent. The list kept getting longer as he thought, realizing he needed to work on more than he had previously expected. After hours of focusing he finally stood up, taking a deep breath, taking a few steps back, then running and jumping off of the ledge. He landed on a mountain top that had been a few hundred feet down, his feet slam into it, cracking the rock a bit as he springs back off, using his ki to make himself fly a bit higher as he jumps. He lands on another, doing the same, it was time to work on his leg strength a bit. He pushes off, landing at the bottom of a steep cliff, looking up at it, he takes a few steps back, taking a deep breath before running at it as fast as he can, slamming his feet into it as he runs up the stone wall. He wasn’t letting himself use any of his ki, so he didn’t make it to the top, instead losing grip and falling back down flat on his back on the ground below. He quickly gets back to his feet, taking a few more steps back, this time getting a bit more speed before running up the wall again, this time making it a bit higher, but still falling back to the floor, this time on his feet. He takes a few more steps back, “c’mon, Ringo, you can do this.” He tells himself before he takes off running again, running up the side of the wall again, this time nearly making it to the top, his fingertips barely touching the ledge before he falls again. As he falls onto his chest on the ground he pushes his brows together, growling as he punches the ground, “god dammit!” He yells at the top of his lungs as he gets back up, taking a few seconds to focus before taking off running again, this time making it to the top, his fingers getting a grip and letting him pull himself up. He sighs in satisfaction, taking off running and jumping off of the cliff, landing on the ground and springing off, jumping back towards the cave he had moved in to. “Hey, Budo,” he says, smiling as he looks down at his little friend, Budo responds with a happy bark. “Well, Budo, sorry to leave so soon, but you’re probably getting hungry, and so am I,” he says to the puppy before stepping off of the ledge again, falling onto the floor, looking around at the forest, sure there was something to eat out there. He searched and salvaged for hours before coming back with the supplies to make himself a little bed on the floor, as long as some food. He spent the several months living in the cave, training, mentally and physically before finally emerging, ready to go see Master Goku again, he wasn’t done with his training, but he had gotten strong enough to deal with what the world had to throw at him.
