Yadorigi left the Mansion job and flew back to the city proper. His interaction with the red woman still lingered in his mind as he flew through the cool night air and he found himself regretting not learning more about her, despite being somewhat pressed for time on getting out of that lab. Hell, he didn’t even catch her name. Not only that, but he still wasn’t sure what she was. Some of the comments she had made helped pile evidence onto the idea that she wasn’t from Earth.

The young Saiyan had only experienced Vegeta and Earth so far, but he had done some studies of prominent races in the universe as part of his schooling and he didn’t know this one. That meant she would fall into the very generic classification of ‘Alien’ as far as the Saiyans were concerned. Which was sort of a nice way of saying ‘miscellaneous’ because until a race of people truly threatened or gained the respect of the Saiyans, they were just another lifeform among the many.

The glow of the city lights was a cool sight to see from above, but Yadorigi hated the way the light pollution clouded the night sky and made it difficult to make out the stars. Spinning around onto his back as he flew, he stared up at the lights of space instead, sighing. Perhaps it was getting close to the time when he would need to venture out and explore more. He thought of the ship he had brought here from Vegeta. Perhaps it could be salvaged.

Really, it should’ve been the first thing he had done when he had gotten here, go and find another ship and get off this rock. They would eventually figure out what pod he took and come looking for him, so it was rather stupid of him to stay on the first planet he had landed on. He idly wondered if they had a way to track the ship itself. If they did, it was possible they had already found the stashed away vessel and the idea of fixing it up would be a lost cause. It didn’t really matter, if they did have a way to track it, the risk was too high, so he’d have to get a new ship. Better to trust something that hadn’t wrecked if he was going to go hurdling through space anyway.

As his mind wandered, he didn’t think about how he was positioned and as he tilted a little bit, the filched object from the mansion laboratory slid free from his jacket and started to free fall away from him.

Panic set in and he spun around, looking for the object. It glowed faintly which would help, but the city lights were now below him and he couldn’t pick out the small object among the rest. He flew down towards the ground, searching frantically as his eyes watered with the wind rushing past them.

Finally he spotted it and he adjusted his trajectory as he pushed some more speed into his flight. It was rolling end over end as it fell, the glowing green liquid inside sloshing from one end of the cylinder to the other. He grabbed hold of it and slowed to a stop, hovering above the city. Breathing a sigh of relief, he stuck it back in his jacket. Keeping one hand on the outside of his jacket over the object, he glided down to the roof of a building. Perhaps it would be better to go the rest of the way on foot. The metal cylinder seemed sturdy enough, but a fall from a thousand or more feet would be asking a lot of the container.

Making his way over to the fire escape, he clamored over the side of the roof and dropped down onto the metal walkway leading down. He wasn’t positive why he acted so often as if he couldn’t simply fly down and do things the hard way. Part of him thought it was sort of the more physical means of doing something, not getting lazy with the power he had and still moving his muscles to do things like climb or run.

Another part of him simply wanted to keep under the radar. It made sense with the kinds of things he did for jobs, working in the shadows, taking people unaware. Flight, like many of his other talents, were something he liked to keep to himself. Often he was underestimated simply based on his appearance; his apparent age, his stature. If an opponent or group of opponents thought he was just some punk kid, then he had a marked advantage. In the mind of a man that thought he was a slight build human teenager, the top end of talent someone like that would have is some martial arts genius, and that was a pretty remote possibility. In the mind of a man like that, there wasn’t a realistic scenario in which he lost to a ‘boy’ like that. In his mind, he had already won.

Yadorigi loved to fight a man with that mindset. A little because he loved to watch the shock spread across their face, and a little because of the edge it gave him. The mind of that man would be reeling when presented with a scenario outside of his realm of possibility, when Yadorigi came at him, crossing ground in the blink of an eye and tossing him like a ragdoll. The young saiyan frowned as he realized he’d been in a few scuffles lately and had left some of those people alive. Word about him would spread and he’d lose that edge if he wasn’t careful.

Manipulation of ki and his flight were pretty well guarded though. The fights he’d been in recently had pretty much just been him moving very quickly and deftly, taking care of men that thought themselves better than him with a few short movements and counters. It was also possible that those big strong looking guys had been tight lipped about the whole affair in order to save face, or described him as looking much more intimidating to match the kind of fighter they should lose to. Either would help Yadorigi maintain his fighting edge.

Speaking of the type, the young Saiyan paused as he heard the ruckus of some rowdy guys coming into the alley. He was halfway down the fire escape and he leaned against the cool bricks of the building, trying to stay inconspicuous. As the guys below walked past, not bothering to look up or anything, Yadorigi looked up at the sky, wondering when it might rain next. It had been a while since the last time he could remember and he missed it.

He had to hold himself back as he heard one of the men below bragging about his fighting prowess. This wasn’t the time for getting into a scuffle in the alley, he needed to make the delivery pretty soon and he didn’t trust the glass part of the cylinder to hold up to an impact if he suffered some bad luck.

Eventually they moved on and turned a corner, their voices, loud as they were, fading into the constant din of the city. Exhaling slowly, he worked his way down the rest of the fire escape and lofted over the railing, dropping down to the pavement instead of pushing the last set of stairs down. He walked a little ways, making it to the corner that the guys had turned down and going the same way.

The guys were there, three of them. The one that had been bragging before frowned a little bit,” Ah, damn man, I thought it would be some sweet honey walkin by herself. I woulda loved seeing some of that come walk this way.”

“Shut up idiot, you gonna make it like we would do something nasty or illegal you know?,” one of the others said and then he turned to Yadorigi," Why were you watching us from up there little man? You hear what we were talking about?”

So, they had been more observant than he had thought and had noticed him up on the fire escape after all. Two more guys walked up behind Yadorigi and the young Saiyan turned to check them out first before responding. He thought they were maybe just two random people going the same way, but they stopped and squared their feet, obviously there to block his exit back to the alley. Yadorigi sighed, it was very difficult to go anywhere in this part of the city without running into some sort of trouble,” I was just sitting up there, I wasn’t watching or listening to anything.”

“I don’t believe him man,” said the first one, narrowing his eyes in suspicion at the white haired Saiyan,” and besides, I want him to know we could do something nasty. Scared kids will tell you all you want to know.”

Yadorigi actually did have to try to think back to what they guys had been talking about that had them asking him questions in this way. What had he overheard that was so bad? The guy had talked about beating up a guy pretty badly, but Yadorigi couldn’t really recall anything from before or after that, he really hadn’t been paying attention.

The second guy stepped in closer to the young Saiyan,” Nothing, huh? You heard nothin?”

Yadorigi nodded, making his eyes go wide like he was a little afraid and was telling them the truth more than telling them what they wanted to hear. It was pretty close to the truth, that had to be good enough,” I don’t know anything that you’re talking about. I didn’t hear you say anything. I heard talking, but I didn’t pick out the words.”

“Psh,” the third one in front of him finally chimed in, shaking his head,” that’s gotta be a lie man, everybody knows how loud numbskull here is. This kid had to have heard him, let’s just get this done and move along.”

The second one raised a hand to the group, asking them to wait,” Let the kid talk. Well, I’m sure you’re telling the truth little man, but you wouldn’t mind if I search you, would you? Just to make me feel good about letting you run along?”

“Why?” the white haired Saiyan asked, narrowing his eyes and pulling his jacket tight around him. The cylinder pressed against his chest. This really wasn’t going well, he couldn’t let the guy find the package he was supposed to be delivering right now.

“Cause,” the guy said, his tone implying that should be enough reason alone, but then his voice took on a darker feeling as he continued,” I like to know if you got anything valuable for me. What’s this glow you got under your jacket?”

Yadorigi looked down and noticed that as the cylinder had been pressed against the jacket and had rotated, the glass view window in it was pointing out, bleeding some of the green glow through his jacket. It wouldn’t be bright enough to notice during the daytime, but with how dark it was at night in this alley, you could see it pretty clearly.

The guy suddenly reached out and pushed his hand inside Yadorigi’s jacket, attempting to fish the object out. The young Saiyan was able to twist away quick enough to save the cylinder from being taken, though only just barely. This guy was quick, very quick. Now that he knew how it was positioned, he could probably get it away from Yadorigi at the right moment.

His hand flashed out again, but Yadorigi had been more ready for it this time and he ducked down and swept his leg out, taking the man in the ankle and knocking his legs out from under him. As he fell, the other four rushed.

Yadorigi slammed a fist into the face of the third one that hadn’t been that talkative, but the fight bragger came in and landed a blow into Yadorigi’s belly. The young Saiyan smiled as the strike hadn’t really hurt, but he faked a grunt of pain anyway for effect and sort of doubled over.

The two men behind him took the opportunity and grabbed the collar of his jacket at the same time and yanked, it pulled Yadorigi up straight, but more unfortunately, it flared the front of his jacket open. The man that had tried to steal the cylinder before recovered from his fall and snatched the glowing green liquid, pulling it from Yadorigi’s jacket.

Quick as a whip the young Saiyan lashed out a strike and hit the guy in the wrist, hearing the pop of a bone or tendon and the object flew from the guy’s hand and through the air. Still held by the guys and having another punch from the bragger coming, he couldn’t stop the fall. He grimaced as the cylinder hit the pavement with a clatter. It didn't’ seem to break at least.

The guy that had successfully taken it pulled his wrist back with a yelp and held it with his other hand as he rolled away. The guy that had taken a blow to the face was starting to regain his composure and come back in.

The punch from the bragger was again aimed at Yadorigi’s middle and the young Saiyan let the two men behind him pull on him as he dodged out of the way of the strike. Then, planting his feet he twisted himself, pulling free of the jacket. One of the men lost his balance as the jacket suddenly came free and stumbled backward onto his ass. Yadorigi flashed out a kick and broke the other guys’ knee and then slammed an elbow into his throat.

Another strike hit him in the back and the white haired Saiyan turned suddenly and back handed the bragger across the face, hitting him so hard that teeth flew from his mouth and cracked against the alley wall as his eyes rolled back in his head, getting knocked out cold.

The one guy ran for it, scooping up the cylinder as he fled. Yadorigi cursed as he hopped up and kneed the man in between them in the stomach, doubling him over and then spinning off of him to pursue the thief. It was funny to think of him like that, considering the young Saiyan had stolen the piece of scientific whatever himself.

Guy didn’t make it but a few steps before Yadorigi was right behind him and the man didn’t like his chances of getting away apparently, so the guy swung the cylinder a the young Saiyan’s head like a club. Yadorigi caught it in the air and yanked it back towards himself. The guy tried to hold on and was yanked too, pulling himself right into a knee drive to the stomach.

Letting out a grunt, the guy’s grip on the cylinder loosened and Yadorigi tossed it from that hand to the other and then slammed an elbow into the back of the guy’s skull, dropping him to the ground. The guy rolled around a little, groaning and holding the back of his head. The young Saiyan was a little surprised the guy was still conscious, but he quickly got over it and kicked the man in the face, finally knocking him out.

Looking around himself, he surveyed the little alley at the guys on the ground and then settled his gaze on the one guy that was still standing, frozen in shock and still holding Yadorigi’s jacket. The Saiyan smirked and walked over, stepping over one of the guys as he went. He reached up and took the jacket from the guy who just stood there in a daze.

As he shrugged on his jacket, the young Saiyan thought about how the fight had transpired. It hadn’t been too flashy really, most of it could still be thought of as being done by someone really good at martial arts or some kind of fighting method. There wasn’t a need to kill all of them to eliminate witnesses.

Sliding the cylinder into his jacket pocket once again, he regarded the frozen guy. Best to not let him off too easy. With a quick step forward, the white haired Saiyan upper cutted the guy in the jaw, knocking him out too before turning on the ball of his foot and walking out of the alley.

A couple people averted their gaze as he immerged and he turned up the street, heading towards the delivery place. There was no sound of sirens even after a couple minutes had passed, though Yadorigi wasn’t that surprised. The authorities probably weren’t called over things like a fight in an alley in this part of the city.

Never dull, night time around here. Perhaps it would’ve been better to fly to his destination after all, risk of dropping it better than almost having it stolen. Yadorigi thought to himself that he would need to help Samael consolidate the different groups in the city so the young Saiyan didn’t get jumped so often while on the job. Then he started to wonder what Samael would do with all of that power and he shivered slightly.

He finally made it to the building he was looking for and knocked on the door. A guy cracked the door open and then let him in once he saw who it was. Either security here was a lot more lax than it was at some of the other places, or Yadorigi was starting to earn a reputation among Samael’s followers.

Nodding to several guys as he walked, he showed himself to where he needed to go, having already been to this building before and knowing where to find the crime boss. He knocked on the door briefly before entering. Samael was pouring himself a drink at his desk and smiled widely as Yadorigi came into the room. He stoppered his bottle and greeted the young Saiyan,” Ah, good to see you, how did it go?”

“The delivery was almost as exciting as the job itself,” Yadorigi admitted as he pulled the cylinder from his jacket and set it on the table. There was a little scuff on the edge of the metal tube, but the glass window was intact and the green fluid sloshed back and forth.

Samael regarded it for a moment and smiled. He gestured to the seat opposite his desk,” Tell me about it, both the job and the delivery. I’ve never been out to the lab myself, I’d be interested to hear more. Would you like something to drink?”

Yadorigi glanced at the crime boss’s glass of dark red liquid and frowned,” you wouldn’t happen to have coffee would you?”

“Sure, how do you take it?” Samael said with a smile full of too sharp of teeth. He had noticed the glance at his own drink and it always seemed to amuse him that Yadorigi didn’t want any of it. Reaching over, Samael pushed a button on his desk that the young Saiyan hadn’t noticed before and he heard a little buzzer go off in the next room.

“Uh, little bit of sugar and a little bit of cream?” Yadorigi requested, still sort of surprised the crime boss had any at all.

One of the lower rank guys of the group poked his head in,” Yeah boss?”

“Coffee please, and bring some sugar and cream,” Samael forwarded on the request. The guy at the door nodded and retreated. The man across the table smiled at Yadorigi,” You know, they say sociopaths tend to take their coffee black.”

“Interesting,” Yadorigi wasn’t sure what taking coffee black meant, he’d have to look it up later, but he knew what a sociopath was. It seemed to describe a lot of Saiyans Yadorigi had known growing up on Vegeta, probably more the normal personality or mental type really. The young Saiyan liked learning things like anatomy and psychology, he found it helpful in his work.

Before long the guy returned with a tray and brought it over to the desk, he poured some of the dark brew into the mug and then set the pot back down and left the room. As Yadorigi started scooping some sugar over, Samael leaned forward a bit and took a sip of his own drink,” So, tell me about your little adventure tonight.”

Despite himself, the young Saiyan smiled a little bit thinking back on it as he finished preparing his coffee and took a sip. It was good coffee based on what he had drank so far, but if Samael had coffee, the man would have great coffee for sure. Tapping the side of his mug Yadorigi tried to think of where to start,” Well, so, the mansion. I’m not sure if you’ve ever been there, but imagine this. Purple carpets. That’s just the start of its lavishness.”

Samael smiled as Yadorigi went on, like the two of them were old friends as the crime boss listened to the story of crime and violence the young Saiyan began to spin for him. Such a strange pairing of people, but the two worked well together. Business would be good with their forces combined. Very good.
