One minute the red-head looked like she was on cloud nine, her facial expression said she couldn't be more happy that she was getting down to one of her favourite activities; eating. But that was before she'd heard...HIS name. It was like a slap in the face - that no matter where she went in the wide galaxy, there he was. That vertically challenged, white-faced...lizard. She could almost hear his tyrannical laughter and the condescending tone he took whenever he used the word...'monkey'. The nightmares, they were supposed to be over, right? They were finally a free people, RIGHT? So why was it that whenever she heard his name, her blood boiled? "I'd rather not hear his name again. It'll spoil the meal." she half growled. "Maybe your people have had nothing directly to do with him, but there was a time when we were at his beck and call, Nyx." that was putting it lightly, of course; they weren't really his soldiers, he just let them believe they were. But those days, as she'd heard it from her parents, were gone. No more big bad Frieza. They all served the one man their society had intended for them to serve. The same man who had been responsible for gathering up a force of Saiyans and taking planet Plant and seizing it for the Saiyan people shortly before renaming the planet to 'Planet Vegeta'. "If someone of Frieza's status would pursue that method, it's gotta be pretty powerful, so I can't really blame you for not exactly being forthcoming about the details, Videl. Trust me, Nyx," she turned her to dual-hair coloured companion. "He's every bit as terrifying as the stories make him out to be." she reassured Nyx that Frieza truly was, at the very least, worthy of his title of 'galactic emperor', and that the tales of the galactic emperor ruling with an iron fist were more history lessons than tales you told children who were misbehaving. While Nyx was introducing a gadget Mizuna had been previously introduced to, Mizuna established through her actions that she respected Nyx enough to stay quiet through the changing scenery. It was as much a lesson for her as it was for Videl. Not dissimilar to her previous experience with this particular piece of technology, she caught herself following images that looked so real around the room, in awe of the icy beauty of Nyx's frozen home world. It was definitely a spectacle to behold and marvel at; icy oceans, a large ship that appeared to have spires and towers atop it, much like the city it passed over. It reminded her just a bit of the tales she had been told as a small child about planet plant - the former home world of the tuffles, a technologically advanced species who shared many similarities with the inhabitants of Earth called humans. Rather than delve into her memories, Mizuna opted instead to keep her focus on the here and now. There was much about Nyx that was still an enigma to her and she was keen to learn more about the female she would be sharing many more intimate moments to come with; blood oath or no - she had announced the Sigerian a friend of hers and she was raised on valuing your friends and never turning your back on them. Every new scene looked similar to the last and yet completely different. Mizuna had already experienced through the device once just how cold Nyx's planet was, but that didn't stop her from rubbing the sides of her arms through her blazer, or latching onto Nyx for extra warmth, while making a mental note about needing a cape. Mostly for style points, but also for the occasion that she would need to wrap it around herself to keep warm. Not that she was opposed to using the sudden drop in room temperature as an excuse to get cuddly with her most recent and closest friend. Her immediate impulse to initiate close proximity between herself and Nyx was justified the moment the monochrome haired girl began talking about their encounter with the changelings. Mizuna rolled her eyes in a 'what did you expect' kind of fashion when she heard the remark about it not taking long for the Frieza clan to show their base natures. The canvas of fire on an icy planet such as Nyx's former home world was not one Mizuna wasn't used to seeing, albeit it wasn't from the victim side of the fence that she was familiar with this kind of scenery. The Saiyan race was a cruel, violent and barbaric one in it's own right, but compared to Frieza, they were just wild beasts playing at having a civilization. It was no surprise to the red head that once the Sigerians fled from their system that the Changelings sucked the planet dry; it was a similar sight to what planets generally looked like when she and her friends were finished with them; barren wastelands with little but the scars of war to tell of the tragedy that had befallen them and it was for that reason that Mizuna knew that what she wanted, what she dared to hope for, was selfish and undeserved. When the light of the holographic device flickered and the same old decorations of the castle returned, Mizuna felt it was appropriate to remind Nyx the kind of power Frieza possessed and the extent to which he enjoyed to hold that power over others. "I know it's not my place to say this, Nyxxie, but...if this power was able to restore a kingdom, Frieza would kill stars just to get his filthy little lizard hands on it. It has to be true." she knew it wouldn't bring much comfort to Nyx and that she probably would give her a disapproving glance, but she wanted to convey that whatever it was that they had to do to get their hands on that power, it would definitely be worth it. Mizuna, of course, had her own plight, but given her heritage, she wasn't about to openly share her secrets. She had opened that cookie jar up to Nyx and Icarus, but beyond that, she wasn't about to tell Videl why she wanted to find whatever power it was that helped restore the Ox Kingdom back to it's former glory. "I'm sure a person of your position understands that there are things I want too, but...I cannot tell you what they are, so if you have a test or something you would like us to perform to convince you that we are not of the same character as Frieza, or those within the Planet Trade Organization." Mizuna considered her words carefully for a moment, before lightly squeezing Nyx's hands. "I cannot tell you any more than what I have already told you. I am here as her friend, companion and bodyguard. I made a promise to her, as a friend and I intend to see that promise through. The warrior who turns her back on her friends when they're in need isn't a warrior; she's a coward, and death is much too good for cowards." Mizuna spoke strongly even though her actions back on planet Vegeta would likely be considered that of a weakling and a disgrace. After all, she had her arms wrapped around another woman, in an almost romantic gesture and was declaring a fierce sense of loyalty to her friend. Though the sentimentality of her actions could have been interpreted as a weakness, her body language and the words that passed her lips didn't betray weakness, they spoke exactly the same thing that Mizuna had told Nyx in the Devil's Land; that if anyone were to harm her or so much as touch a hair on her head, Mizuna would not hesitate to bury them six feet under. Videl stiffened up at the tone that Nyx addressed her in, taking that obvious sign of aggression seriously. She rose from her chair and clenched her fists at her side to show that she was not at all pleased at the angry outburst upon Nyx. She could tell that the woman was offended, but Videl was just a little bit angry at the hostile way she was being addressed. She got into a fighting stance for a moment when Nyx reached for something, but relaxed when she saw that, whatever it was, it clearly was not a weapon of some kind. She was told about the functions of the hologram, and before she could say anything about it, she was sucked into some kind of virtual memory, Nyx going into heavy detail about the history of her people and their planet, watching the events unfold before her very eyes. She was, needless to say, enraptured over the detailed history and all the events that happened one by one, staying as silent as possible for the sake of ensuring that she got as authentic an experience with these memories as possible. In a flash, it was over, and Videl nearly collapsed down into her seat. Breathing in and out for a moment as the rush of adrenaline from the heavy experience overcame her, she looked at Nyx for a moment, before speaking up. "It was not my intention to compare you to Frieza, so you have my apologies as well as my condolences for your Race and planet. However, your friend is right when she says that Frieza would destroy and kill as much as he had to in order to get his hands on this method of ours. Caution is very necessary, as telling the wrong person can disastrous consequences" she said in between each breath she took. After a while, she turned to Mizuna and watched as she embraced Nyx, taking note of the rather romantic affection that was being shown there. She was a bit suspicious of Mizuna's refusal to tell her anything about what she might want, judging by the narrowing of her eyes, but she shrugged it off when the redhead she was doing this because Nyx was her friend. Since Nyx had made it abundantly clear what it was she wanted, she took note of Mizuna's suggestion of a test, and she sat up as an idea came to her. "Very well, a test sounds reasonable. I will give you a number of tasks that you both have to complete. Failure will get you instant denial of that information. I promise you that these tasks will not go against any morals you might have, but you must complete them with any conditions I give to you. However, I have two rules for these tasks, and they are as followed. You must cause as little destruction and property damage as possible, and you must not kill anyone. If you kill someone, I will know, and you will fail. They won't really be tests of your strength or intelligence, or tests of skill, it will test something else. So, do you both accept?" she asked the two of them. WC: 528 TWC: 2,628 |

Nyx prepared herself for a fight after she had unintentionally insult Videl, who was very quick to take action. Fortunately for Nyx, she seemed to calm down enough to listen to her story. That was close: I need to make sure that I'm polite no matter what subject matter is brought up. This is why emotions like that are troublesome: I can't afford to get angry in front of a monarch. Much more problematic for Nyx though was Mizuna's very touchy behavior throughout her tale, and even beyond it. From embraces to holding her hands and squeezing them, Nyx had to make a concentrated effort not to blush or let herself get distracted by them. It wasn't like she hated the contact. On the contrary, she liked it when Mizuna behaved this way. She just wished that she could be a little more discrete about it though. Why can't she read the situation and act accordingly? She just acts however she wants to act no matter what's going on around her. We're extremely lucky that Videl knows how Saiyans behave: otherwise we'd be fighting for our lives right now. Although that would probably just make Mizuna happy more then anything else. Saiyans loved a good fight no matter the circumstances. It was what they lived for, and Nyx had learned that first hand from Mizuna. Having someone willing to fight on her behalf was something Nyx valued very much. Although she didn't want to deliberately start a confrontation if she could just avoid it. As she was right now, it was dangerous to take on anyone directly. No, she would rely on her words for now, as she had throughout her entire life. Nyx was surprised at the conditions of the tests that they would have to go through. It was definitely annoying that she would have to go through more obstacles just to reach the end goal. Well, she had waited a few Decicycles just to find anything useful she could use to her advantage. Nyx could wait just a little bit longer. What could these tests possibly be? If they aren't about strength, intelligence, or skill, then what kind of tests are they? Nyx was taught from a very young age that those 3 traits were among the most important when it came to combat or even competitive games. So what could Videl be testing them with that was important enough to help her make her decision on whether or not she would give them the information she needed? Nyx was going to have to figure it out as quickly as possible if she hoped to have a chance. Slipping her hands away from Mizuna's, Nyx responded to the challenge without any sort of hesitation on her part. "We"re ready to complete whatever tasks that you've prepared for the both of us. I promise I will abide by the rules and avoid hurting or killing anyone in the process of finishing your tasks." Nyx was certain that Mizuna would say yes as well. She wasn't the kind of person to back down from a challenge. [Wc=512] [TWC=4,823] Edited by Nyx, May 31 2016, 12:24 PM.

Either option would have been good for Mizuna, really. She liked the usual Saiyan things; fighting, feasts and frisking. Mizuna was guilty of almost every stereotypical red-haired girl trait - she was impulsive, hot-headed, stubborn as hell and had a short fuse. Having Saiyan blood only scaled those things up and added the thrill of a good fight to the list. She was also risen with a few reinforced, positive traits. Like an unwavering and fierce loyalty to her friends, an inclination to being honest and a penchant for doing her best no matter the situation. Of course, when she heard that the tests, an idea that she herself had suggested, would not be tests of strength, intelligence or of their skill, she did begin to wonder what they could possibly be trying to test of her and Nyx. That didn't stop her from basking in a moment of self pride, though - she had suggested something that didn't directly involve decking someone in the schnoz and for her, that meant progress! Go me. See? I'm not just a dumb monkey after all, I can use my brain for things other than fighting when I want to. Mizuna inwardly praised herself, mentally patting herself on the back for a job well done. All her life, the red-haired girl had heard just about every chiding remark or condescending nickname relating to her species and their particular...gifts or lack there of. In particular, it usually pertained to their average level of intelligence for things that did not involve killing or fighting something. 'stupid monkey' this, 'uneducated simian wench' that. Quite honestly, Mizuna was angered by the remarks at first but after so much repetition, it was almost like a bloody game to her, counting up the amount of times she'd heard certain key phrases. Good grief, the galaxy's other species sure knew how to beat a dead horse when they were presented with an opportunity. Frieza's men were one case, but Mizuna was able to justify the scathing remarks aimed at her people from that lot. They worked under a man, no, a being who commanded a lot more grace and power in one finger tip than even the particularly clever ones of her species could ever hope to muster in their predictably short life spans. Frieza was a traitorous, back-stabbing, two-faced lizard-like bastard but he was strong and from the stories she had heard, they were weak and divided. Bringing herself back to the here and now, Mizuna acknowledged that Nyx needed her entire composure and didn't try to pursue her friend's hand when it left hers, folding her arms instead and nodding in response to the conditions that were laid out before her and her dual hair coloured friend. This...Videl woman, she wanted as little structural damage around the area as possible and did not wish for Mizuna or Nyx to kill any one. The braided red-head understood that breaching either of those conditions would mean failure and quite frankly, she welcomed the challenge. She leaned forward across the desk, a bright smile on her face as she nodded enthusiastically, "Yep! We agree to those terms! I'll accept a challenge no matter what it is! But can I please, please get something to eat before I collapse?" an ever present fire in her eyes, Mizuna was ready to take on the challenge, but there was a much more pressing matter at hand. One that bounced off the walls every time the red-haired Saiyan thought about the contents or rather the lack of contents in her stomach, putting on her best puppy dog eyes for the raven-haired woman that had summoned both her and Nyx to this little conference. There wasn't any way she could say no to a pair of big dark brown eyes pleading for a meal, right? [634 Words|5,048 Total] |

Videl looked at the both of them as they seemed to think over her deal, most likely they were trying to decide if the tests were something they wanted to go through. However, she didn't have to wait long at all, what with the two of them quickly coming to their decisions, and deciding to go through with the tests. She was pleased to hear this, as it meant that the both of them didn't care what it was they would be tested on. The fact that they agreed even with the conditions she had attached to the test spoke wonders of their morality. However, she wasn't likely to be convinced just by their eagerness and willingness to play by her rules, she needed legitimate proof that they would be capable of actually doing some genuine good. She already had a good first test in mind for the both of them, but when Mizuna spoke up pleading for some food, Videl nodded her head and stood up. She then indicated for the two to follow her, leading them from the throne room to the dining hall of the Castle, where a mountain food laid on top of the large center table. "My husband, my daughter, my brother-in-law, and my father-in-law are all of Saiyan blood, so the servants have been expertly tutored in how to cook for Saiyans. Dig right in while I let you both know what your first test will be" she said, waving her hand at the food to let them know that they could eat the scrumptious food. It wouldn't be as good as hers, or even as good as Chi-Chis, but it was appetizing enough to feed a Saiyan, which is exactly what she wanted. After she did that, she sat down on one of the thrones situated at the table. As soon as the two dug into their food, she was quick to speak up once more, letting them know what their first test will be. "I imagine you two don't know what an orphanage is. If not, allow me to explain. When children don't have any family who can take them in, or want to take them in, they go to a special place that houses them and educates them called orphanages. They take the children in and care for them until they reach adulthood, or until someone comes along and adopts the children as their own. My husband and I have been setting up various places around our territory that need funding, and we've pretty much sent all of the payments out except for one. We need to send out this money to help them with funding and the like, and one of these orphanages need to be sent money to finish with supplies. I want you to take the money to them, and make sure that it gets straight to where it needs to be" she said to them as she pulled a small capsule out of her pocket and placed it in Nyx's hand. "Press the button on the top and throw it on the ground, a large container of money and jewels will pop out. Do whatever you have to in order to ensure it gets to it's destination, so long as you don't break my tenants and use proper judgement. It is to the south from here, and the distance isn't too far so you can easily walk to there at a reasonable time Do that, and your first test will be complete" she finished explaining to them. She was very proud of the first test she came up with, as she already had a plan in mind for how to test their skills. WC: 611 TWC: 3,239 Edited by Taoranran, Jun 3 2016, 11:15 AM.

Nyx didn't really eat too much of the food offered to her. She slowly just used the utensils and picked out the food that looked the easiest to consume to her, and wouldn't be that messy. It was nothing but nurishment to her, so it didn't really matter what she consumed. Course, the polite thing of course was to eat just a little bit, and she did need to sustain herself at least a little bit. She didn't need too much since her metabolism was relatively slow. Although there was one thing that really bothered Nyx. Well, saying bothered was an understatement. Nyx was staring wide-eyed at Videl at the mention of the orphanages, completely appaled by that idea for some reasons. "You have those kind of facilities on the planet even when you're not in wartime? I've never heard of any civilization that's needed to house those who've lost family outside of those suffering from war." Out of all the things that they had talked over, this was what got the most emotional reaction out of Nyx so far. She didn't even react as much to the tale of her races tragic past. Although that could be attributed to he just being used to her race's story after years of hearing about it. More importantly, Videl finally gave them the task she had in mind, and Nyx realized that it was going to be a problem. Not for the reasons most cultures would find this task difficult mind you, but it would be relatively tricky regardless. Still, Nyx was going to put that all aside for the moment and focused on the situation at hand. Still, this was her chance to gain valuable information. She wasn't going to mess it up! "I assure you that every piece of money and jewels will end up at that orphanage. I'm a very practical person these days, and just need a little food and drink to sustain myself. I don't need to spend extravagantly on things I don't need." [WC=340] [TWC=5,163] Edited by Nyx, Jun 8 2016, 04:30 AM.

Mizuna started small with her food, but not at all in a refined manner. She practically snatched the whole lot of pork buns out of the bowl they were in, shoving five into her mouth all at once before she got started on the udon noodles, using the chopsticks presumably supplied to eat them with, slurping them up with delight in the texture. It was a new food to her - all of it was. There happened to be an entire chicken with stuffing in it among the many dishes brought out for her and Nyx, the chicken was demolished in a savage fashion, betraying just how Mizuna had lived up until she landed on Earth. It was commonly accepted that they ate the remains of their foes and it was usually a gruesome sight to behold for other species who had doubts about the Saiyan people being savage, barbaric monkeys. That kind of scenario usually resulted in aforementioned other species arriving at the conclusion that the Saiyan people really were as savage, barbaric and brutal as the stories portrayed them as; they were less a 'people' and more a collection of wild animals given humanoid form. "Mm! Yum!" she expressed her appreciation of the food before wolfing down a rice and egg bowl in mere seconds, stacking it up with the rest of the plates she had emptied, beginning to form a mountain of plates as she hoed through the rest of the food present, tearing the ham to shreds, downing a smoked crab, crunching loudly on its crisp outside while grabbing a cup of what she expected was something to drink. The fluid from that was pleasant to her taste buds as well and did a good job of washing down the food she'd piled up. By this point, the average person might have been finished, but Mizuna kept going back for seconds, thirds and even fourths. The plates, bowls and other food carrying items continued to pile up, nearing twenty bowls and it wasn't until Mizuna had half finished off a dinosaur's thigh and stacked up her fiftieth plate that she patted her stomach, a look of pure bliss on her face. "Aah~ That was good stuff! I'm stuffed now, though! Hehe! Thanks, Videl." for such a petite girl, she'd probably surprised Nyx with how much she was able to pack away, but she didn't expect much surprise from Videl; she was married to a Saiyan -- the Son of Goku, so it was only natural for her to know about Saiyan appetites and just how much room the average Saiyan had in their stomach. While eating, she'd heard Videl explain about an orphange nearby - a place where children who had lost their parents were kept. Mizuna had at least heard of it a couple of times during her stay on Earth. "Yeah; we don't have these 'orphanage' things on Planet Vegeta. Hell, our parents don't really interact that much with us, it's very rare that they personally oversee our training. We receive basic battle training from the people assigned to do that and are expected to earn our own kills off planet." she spoke of the contrast between human society and Saiyan society even though the contrast should have already been common knowledge for Videl. "By the way...if we do this little test of yours...will you spar with me? It's like this itch I've had for a while, since we first stepped in here. I have this feeling that you're strong." Mizuna had done her best to keep her Saiyan instincts at bay, but since she had grown up in an environment where those instincts were not only encouraged but allowed to be honed, it was just a bit too hard for her. "Some of the more bloodthirsty ones might not agree to the 'no killing' policy, but personally, I don't see the point of killing people who can't fight. It's no fun when they can't fight back." she wanted Videl to know that she would uphold her part of the agreement but she did not want the raven-haired girl to think of her as weak or a somehow lesser warrior; she had her pride, after all! There was slight concern over Nyx's emotional response, but Mizuna figured she would get her answer for whatever questions she had for that later, when it was just the two of them. Videl raised an eyebrow up at Nyx due to the curious way she responded to the idea of orphanages. From the way she talked about it, she seemed to be against them for some reason. She couldn't imagine why Nyx would be against the existence of orphanages, but chalked that up to it being something bad among her own species. She was a bit befuddled over how orphanages could be bad when they usually did their jobs properly, but she didn't dwell on it for too long, instead opting to move on and concentrate on the task that was at hand. "Orphanages are needed in our world. I wish we didn't need them, but they need to exist. If they didn't children would have nowhere to go, nowhere to live, no real way to get food. Human children are quite defenseless, survival lessons require payment to obtain. There is nowhere for these children to go, Nyx, so orphanages are needed at this point" the Ox Princess said to the Sigerian as she crossed her arms over her chest, mentally thankful that she got to wore her own clothes for once and not some fancy dress that she usually had to wear these days. She nodded at Mizuna in acknowledgement of her saying thanks, and listened to her talk about how children on Planet Vegeta were raised. What she said made things seem like a very sad, lonely childhood, and it caused her to frown in distaste. She couldn't imagine neglecting children like that and forcing them to fend for themselves just for the sake of making them stronger. She didn't like it when Piccolo did it to Gohan, despite how strong it made him. However, the crime fighter chose not to comment on that, and instead perked up at the offer thrown her way. "A spar would be fantastic! The only person I've sparred with these days has been my husband, and although that's nice, I'd like the chance to fight another opponent. I'm curious how a Full-Blooded Saiyan holds up in comparison to a Hybrid like my Husband and Daughter. Name the time and place, I'll be there" Videl said to her with a pleased smirk on her face, glad that she'll be getting a new challenge at some point. She was eager to face new opponents ever since she obtained all the power that she had at this point in time. Finally, the two seemed to agree to do the mission, and this pleased Videl immensely. It was nice to see that, even with the conditions set, they didn't have any real complaints about doing this. It showed how serious and desperate they were to obtain the information they wanted from her. Determination was a very good trait to have, and she could tell that these two will go far with that kind of stubborn determination. It actually reminded her of herself, how she got as strong as she did by channeling her stubbornness and determination to push herself through her training. "Glad to hear it! In that case, feel free to leave whenever you're ready, the servants will clean up after us all" she said to them, giving them the freedom to leave whenever they wished as she finished chowing down on her own meal. She was quite famished, due to all the training that she had been doing today. After all, she didn't really have a whole lot governing to do, since the Kingdom mostly looked after itself once everyone could stand on their own two feet. So due to that, it left her a lot of time to train and grow stronger. WC: 602 TWC: 3,841 |

Nyx was staring wide-eyed at her Saiyan companion as she consumed all the food in front of her like a ravenous beast. She knew Saiyans had very large appetites, but this was absolutely crazy. Does her stomach contain the smallest black hole in the universe? Does she has so much fighting spirit that a flame of passion is literally burning inside of her? I've never seen anyone eat so much in one setting before. Not even Ignoids eat as much as she does, and they can literally burn away their calories! Nyx decided she would inquiry further into it another time. She was more concerned with the existence of the orphanages. She turned her full attention to Videl, looking very somber over the recent information. "Sigerians exist as one being. Even if all direct biological family is killed, another unit will immediately be selected to take care of the child until it's ready to live on its own and form its own unit. Does the human need for individuality really extend so far as to turn a blind eye to those who need a family?" Nyx paused, bowing her head briefly to Videl. "I apologize if I overstepped my bounds. I meant you no disrespect by bringing this subject up in this manner. It's just unsettling to find out the existence of a place like an orphanage after living the majority of my life in a society that has long since dealt with that problem. Isolation is a terrifying prospect for a Sigerian." Nyx stood up, taking the bag of money and valuables, and headed towards the door, motioning for Mizuna to follow. They would complete all the tasks assigned to them, no matter what lay in store for them. [WC=292] [TWC=5,455] |
