Nyx didn't even bother trying to protest when Mizuna picked her up. It was embarrassing, but there wasn't anything she could do about it at this point. Although she did find it rather worrying that she had gotten used to this sort of treatment way too quickly. Regardless, it was time to focus on the hear and now. It seemed like there was much she had to go over with the young Saiyan, but she would take things one step at a time.

"You said it yourself: we'll gain back what was taken from us one way or another. I completely trust you. Even if I end up trusting others, you'll be the person I trust the most. I don't know about you, but my goals require pieces for me to control. Using that demons power was just another way of that. I do not believe in the superstition of selling one's soul to those beings to get more power. Our soul isn't something that you can just give away. Demons just have different methods of applying their techniques. There's nothing mystical about it. That being said though, Icarus sure has gall if he's claiming that I'm the one who sold their soul. Do you know him well?"

Nyx did not have very nice things to say concerning Icarus. Although it was possible that Mizuna was friends with him. If that was the case, then she wouldn't speak her full mind about how she felt about the short Cyborg. Still, that didn't mean she couldn't inquire into other things.

"Why do you distrust distr creatures from other worlds and machines so much? I 'm not fond of artificial intelligence or androids in general myself, so I understand that completely. But why are otherworldly creatures something that you hate?"

"I don't hate them. I just don't trust them; there's a difference. I don't want to lose you too, please be careful with them. I already lost two good friends once, I don't want to lose another." Mizuna knew that her fear was not rational, but she was never a very rational creature. She did as her heart told her and so far it had yet to lead her astray. Of course, it was because of her trust in her feelings that there was currently a giant gaping hole in her heart. "You may find that the price is too great to pay, is what I'm saying, Nyx."

Her friends had been the price for her arrogance, she was sure of that now. "Please don't talk about Icarus like that. He's a fine warrior, he has my respect. He also set me up with a place to stay while I was here on Earth, introduced me to several foods here. I am grateful to him." in the end, maybe it was because she was someone that was driven by very simple aspirations that she appreciated things like honesty and abhorred dishonesty and manipulation. "Some creatures will do anything to take advantage of the misfortune of others and that's just something..." she stopped herself mid lecture, lifting her head towards the sky and smiling.

"No, never mind. I'm just scared I'll lose everything again."

Nyx looked her friend in the eyes, the determination within them clear even though her cool gaze. "I've been playing the game of manipulation for a long time Mizuna. I can get many people to help me, even if they don't realize it. There is very little I wouldn't be willing to pay the price for. I'm well aware that the universe is a dangerous place: if you aren't careful then you'll be at the mercy of others."

Nyx grunted as Mizuna told her how important Icarus was to her. Unfortunately, this seemed like an issue that she and Mizuna were going to disagree on. Nyx was definitely no friend of Icarus at this point, and he held similar feelings towards her.

"If you respect him, then I won't inflict any lasting damage on him. I can't promise that not to fight him though. He may be your ally, but he is my enemy."
Nyx was quiet for a little while after Mizuna brought up her fears of losing things. When Nyx spoke up again, she talked to Mizuna quietly.

"You need to accept that the worst could happen at anytime. Your fear is justified, but you can't let it take control of you. One of the first things that I was taught was how to control my fear. The reason fear exists in the first place is because it's a survival instinct. It prevents us from getting into unfavorable situations. But if it completely overwhelms you, then it becomes a liability. I was taught how to control it. How to use it to survive, how to use it as a weapon in battle. I accepted that the worst can always happen a long time ago. I keep myself going on by telling myself that the worst is only a certainty if I do nothing and let my fears overwhelm me."
Up ahead the orphanage started coming into view. It seemed like they were getting close towards the goal of the first task.

Nyx's determination wasn't lost on her but manipulating people was a game of careful politics. Mizuna thought it sent a stronger message to just punch the guy in the face and be done with it. "I was born and raised a warrior, Nyx. Moving through other people is not something I'm suited to nor something I like doing." Mizuna didn't need Nyx to tell her the effects of fear.

After the attack on her gal pals, Mizuna would occasionally have post traumatic stress disorder-fashioned flashbacks. In those instances, the terror of not being able to move a single muscle revisited her. So yeah, even without Nyx telling her that fear had immobilizing effects when it consumed you, she had enough experience with it to know what it was like to be frozen by that survival instinct. "It's all well and good to talk about not letting that fear consume you but I would be remiss if I didn't keep myself open to my feelings. Without those feelings, you're just a machine. Compassion and comradery will bring you a mightier force than simply using people ever will, remember that."

Mizuna dropped the dual-haired woman without much of a warning to impress upon her how little she cared for the cold, analytical talk of how she had gotten by on manipulating people. Her pride as a warrior and her value placed on comradery were something she felt she needed to let Nyx know about. "You know, maybe you DO have a superior intellect, but without people who trust you - without comrades - those plans are doomed to failure. Compassion is the sign of a good leader and if you plan to retake your home world, I suggest you learn a bit of it, as well as a little something I like to call 'honour'." there were times when Nyx invoked a mixed feeling of sadness and anger in the young Saiyan and this was one of those times.

Sad because it sounded like Nyx was looking for pawns in her little game of chess and angry because it also sounded like she was being condescending towards her and the convictions she had always held true to. Comradery was extremely important to her. Having somebody she could confidently say 'we're in this together' to and have it mean something. Deaths had meaning, lives had meaning - people weren't things, they weren't just pieces in a game and that was the crime of artificial life; it took the heart of mortality and replaced it with ones and zeros. No feelings.

With the orphanage in sight, she extended a hand to Nyx whether she had managed to find a way to not land on her butt, an apologetic expression on her face. "I'll always fight much harder for a friend than for a cold, machine-like commander. Anyone without feelings may as well be a machine and that's just too sad of a way to live life."

"Feelings are meant to be controlled like everything else. Comradery is what matters the most when you're fighting a way. Compassion is only for people who you care about. I'll use whatever force works best for me in the situation given to me." Nyx walked beside Mizuna once again the moment she was placed back down onto her feet. She listened to Mizuna's speeches as the orphanage range moved closer and closer.

"As long as I have a few people to call comrades, then I can use as many people as I wish. It's true that I do need people I can trust: otherwise I won't get very far. There is very little value in honor when everything is on the line. I'll do almost anything to accomplish my goals. Remember this well Mizuna." Nyx and Mizuna arrived at the orphange. The structure itself looked to be in decent shape, even though it wasn't the biggest structure around. Nyx found it hard to believe that so many people could live in one place, but she supposed that living here was better then live out on the streets. Nyx stepped up to the front door and knocked on it with one hand. Soon the first task would be over and she would be one step closer to getting the information she desperately needed.

"You're wrong." she stood there for a few minutes, digging her fingernails into the palms of her hands. "YOU'RE WRONG!" she practically screamed as she planted one foot into the ground, violently disagreeing with the notion that honour was pretty much a worthless and naive ideal. Nyx had gone too far in her eyes and she needed someone to knock her back down from the high horse she had climbed up on. The anger she felt was enough to flare up the same old golden warrior that was sleeping within the confines of her heart.

"A HEARTLESS BITCH IS NOT WHAT MAKES A GOOD LEADER! CLENCH YOUR TEETH, NYX!" the defiant and angry roar was about the only warning she was going to give her dual-haired friend to the oncoming fist flying towards her face. Mizuna had interpreted what Nyx said as something similar to abandoning her friends and comrades because that was the best course of action to save her own skin and one of the many things on her list of things she couldn't stand was cowardice. The word 'friend' meant that the job of setting Nyx straight was up to her.

The timing, however, might not have been the best given the circumstances.

Mizuna's transformation to Super Saiyan and the punch that followed it came as a surprise to Nyx. She was sent flying, barely managing to skid to a halt a good 40 feet away. Nyx panted, a very noticeable bruise appearing on her left cheek. She gingerly touched the bruise with her hand, wincing slightly as she glared at the Saiyan. She floated back over towards Mizuna, her words still ringing through her mind.

"What do you know about being a good leader?! How many people have you ever commanded at one time?! Given your age, you'd likely only be in charge of a group of 3 or 4 members at most. Listen well Mizuna: when you're given command of thousands of people, and have to make life or death decisions concerning all of them, then we can be on equal ground! I wonder if you'd be willing to hang onto your honor if it meant throwing away the best solution for saving the most lives!"

Nyx glared at her for a few more seconds, then snapped her head towards the door, Trying to salvage the situation as much as she could. This was definitely a setback, but it wasn't unsalvageable.

"Sometimes I forget that I'm not a Zerine anymore. It's been a long time since I've had a position of command. It never really leaves you though. I was trained for it all my life, so It's been a struggle fully letting that go. Why do we hang onto memories and ideals we don't need anymore? There are some things you can't just discard."

Nyx hoped that Mizuna would have the good sense to exit her transformation before the door opened. It would be very hard to explain to the people in there as to why she had entered a transformation meant to be used only in battle.

"YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT I WOULD! NOTHING IS WORSE THAN A LEADER WHO ABANDONS HER PEOPLE JUST TO ACHIEVE VICTORY!" she screamed back at Nyx, the anger clear in her eyes. She wasn't going to back down on that front, no way in hell! Comradery and being true to your feelings were important things for Mizuna and from the sounds of what it sounded like Nyx was suggesting, the Sigerian wanted Mizuna to throw those things to the wind in order to become some more efficient decision-making machine.

Mizuna still wanted to press forward with her attack, beat the Sigerian up some more until she understood the gap in power, until she understood that Mizuna would not abandon her principles, her ideals for anything. But now was not the time to lose control of all reason and take out all of her anger on her so-called friend. "I won't let go of my pride or my identity as a Saiyan! I was born to be a proud fighter!" she huffed and dropped out of her Super Saiyan transformation, one that she felt she was on the edge of improving, or perhaps ascending to the next level of.

Wouldn't that have been nice? To ascend from the intense anger and discontent she felt towards Nyx. "I get the feeling I'm only following you so I can face stronger opponents, ones who will make my heart race! Just thinking about the strong guys I'll get to fight makes me excited." the thought that Nyx didn't really understand her was a bit disheartening but thinking about the strong fighters she might encounter on her journey with Nyx cheered her up enough for her to be at the door beside her. "You've gotten stronger, Nyx. I'm almost certain a punch like that would have snapped your neck clean off if you were still the weakling you were when I found you in the city." she mused, the excitement clear in her voice.

Nyx glowered at Mizuna, the Saiyan's ignorance really irking her. It was clear that she wasn't going to make her fully understand her words right now. Perhaps she could at least get a bit of an understanding between the two of them.

"I have never thrown away my own people just to achieve victory. Sometimes I've had to place people very close to me into very dangerous situations. There were 2 instances where I hated myself for doing it, but it had to be done. They weren't guaranteed to fail though: the missions were just very high risk. Some fights are going to be naturally tougher then others."

Nyx sighed, brushing her outfit off and trying her best to look presentable given the circumstances. At least Mizuna had powered down. Hopefully no one in or around the orphanage saw or sensed it. Although it was very likely that at least the latter happened. Nyx finished straightening herself out before talking back to Mizuna.

"I'm not asking you to give up your identity or who you are. The pride of one's identity is a constant found across most sentient races. I will not stop you from pursuing fights and combating strong opponents. I've come a long way in a short amount of time, but it isn't enough yet. Even if I did have people working for me, not training is no longer an option for me."

"Abandoning my friends or leaving them to die will never be an option. NEVER!" she growled but managed to keep the golden aura at bay, trying a human trick she had picked up on. The redhead inhaled with a deep breath and exhaled just as deeply, regaining her ability to think reasonably. "I'm not a follower; I'm your friend and I'm hoping that you'll come to trust in me and cherish friendship rather than the alliances you're forming with questionable people. I lost my friends once, I don't want to see it happen again."

Mizuna took several steps forward, reaching out to attempt to help Nyx straighten herself out. "Here, I feel like they'd be more receptive to you." the redhead Saiyan girl reached into her skirt pocket, pulling out the pouch she had been entrusted with by the alien princess. "They'll be expecting this. It's what we were asked to deliver, remember? Then we can hopefully get some answers from that Videl woman. I feel like she's giving us the run around."

In the depths of her skirt pocket, there was also another thing. Mizuna pulled out a small rectangular package with the word 'love' in big letters across the front, accompanied with decorations of two different coloured rabbit characters. Sickeningly cutesy to be sure, but it was the little things that showed that she did care. Some of her actions definitely crossed the 'friendship' barrier, especially offering a plaster from the small box to Nyx to cover the bruise Mizuna had formed.

The guilt was written on her face. She needed to do something to make up for the fact that she'd damaged a friend's face. It wasn't a fair attack, either - she took advantage of the fact that she had caught Nyx off guard. "Do you want to punch me in the same place? I'll give you a chance to do that once we're done with this errand." it would have to wait if the door was opening.
