It was odd thinking that a being could feel like an outsider on their own home world, although bring introduced to ki without knowing about its existence beforehand was like entering into a new world. An incomprehensible world that you didn't even know existed. Still, Videl had not only adjusted remarkably well, but rose herself into becoming one of the strongest fighters Nyx had ever met. That was something that couldn't be done with hard work and training alone. Videl was a being that came along once ever few decicycles: a very talented fighter who could hold her own against most opponents.

When Videl inquired as to why she owed Earth a favor, Nyx thought back to all the times the inhabitants had helped her. Although there was much more to it then that.

"You Earthlings have gone out of your way to help me when it would have been easier to simply waste away and die. You've helped me without asking for anything in return. Most importantly of all, you've given me hope. This planet has marvels that no other planets as given me. Instant Transmission, Hyperbolic Time Chamber, the dragonballs.... Thanks to everything I've discovered here, I have hope that I can succeed in my final mission for once. It was a dark path with no light to guide me for many years now. Now I have hope. I regret that I didn't come to Earth sooner. Then I could have wished back the people I failed on the day that came to be known as the Cartenge Storm Massacre. Too many years have passed though. I can't bring them back, but I can give them justice for what happened to them."

Nyx closed her eyes, shaking her head as Videl handed her the radar. She pulled open a pocket in her outfit, revealing a radar of her own and the two-star dragonball underneath it.

"See, this is why I owe you Earthlings. You just keep on helping me and I haven't been able to repay you yet. I appreciate the gesture, but I managed to find out the existance of the dragon radar on my own. My information gathering abilities are one thing that hasn't weakened over the years. I was already certain that you a method to track them existed. Otherwise it would take years to find them."

Nyx walked on besides Videl, going over her plans with the young Saiyan woman again.

"So once I get to Namek and collect the dragonballs there, I'm going to make one wish exclusively for my own gain, one wish that will be for my gain and for others, and one wish exclusively for Earth. You know the enemies Earth is up against better then I do. So aside from the obvious tactical maneuvers, what kind of wish do you think will hurt them the most? It's a wish for Earth's sake, so I want an Earthling's opinion on the matter before I make it. It's only fair to do things this way."

Videl listened in quietly as Nyx went on to explain why she felt she owed Earth and it's people a debt of gratitude. It was true, Videl and others had helped Nyx without asking for anything big in return. It wasn't true that they didn't ask for anything in return, as there was something she did ask for on Nyx's part, it just wasn't a very hard thing in comparison to all that she got in exchange for that small favor. To Nyx it might not have seemed like anything worth mentioning, but to Videl, it was something very important.

What she had asked for in exchange for helping Nyx learn about all that she did was for her silence on the matter. She had only wanted Nyx to keep these things secret only to herself, Mizuna, and any other people she knew she could trust to not spread the information about things like Instant Transmission, the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, the Dragon Balls, the Kaio-Ken, and so on. It may have been an easy thing to grant by Nyx's standards, since Videl knew she was the logical type. Logical people would know that they would have to keep such things secret.

The fact that she admitted that because of Earth and all the incredible things she learned about while on it she had obtained hope showed how Nyx's formerly cold and logical mindset had adopted some Earthling ways of thinking, like that of hope and pursuing one's goals with an incredible zeal that went against all odds. It really showed how being on Earth and learning as much as she has while on it had effected her outlook on life. She was curious about this dark place she claimed to be in, and this massacre she talked about, but respected her privacy and kept things on topic. After all, she believed if she respect Nyx's privacy, she would say personal things about herself when she was ready.

Smiling to herself, she patted Nyx's shoulder and squeezed it again, before patting the place where her heart would be. "It seems spending time on Earth is warping your thinking a bit. When we had first met, I could tell your mindset was very logical and almost clinically cold. Now that you've spent time on Earth, though, I noticed you've been adopting traits like hope and human tenacity. If you keep this up, you might become more Human than Sigerian" she said with an amused chuckle.

She tilted her head to the side when refused to take her Dragon Radar, wondering why she would refuse to take such a no-strings-attached gift, until Nyx formed a pocket on her clothes that contained a Dragon Radar AND a Dragon Ball with it as well. So that's why she refused the gift that Videl offered her, it was because she had one of her own to help her out in her quest. Hearing what she said next had caused her to confirm what she already knew about Nyx since she met her.

Nyx was a logical, thinking person, so it was no surprise she would come to the conclusion that they had methods of tracking the locations of Dragon Balls. Her logic was impeccable, but coming from a science-and-information-based Race like the Sigerians, Videl really shouldn't be surprised by this, which she wasn't. The Sigerians had quite an impeccable level of intelligence, that was for sure, and she was unable to stop herself from nodding her head in an impressed manner. One thing was for sure, she would stop underestimating the alien's ability to think things through and come up with amazing conclusions.

"While there a number of bad eggs among my race, most of us are generally good people with kind hearts. We help our fellows out, usually without expecting anything in return. While I did expect something on your part, the only thing I really asked of you was that you keep information about things like the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and the Dragon Balls to yourself. They are things that should remain absolutely secret for fear of the wrong people coming after them" she said to Nyx in an honest manner, smiling at her in a rather kind, helpful manner.

Nyx then explained her plans about what she was going to do with the Namekian Dragon Balls. While she was a bit askance about using the Dragon Balls purely for her own gain, she figured she had some kind of selfless reason attached to this desire like Videl did when she wished for her and Gohan to become students of King Kai. If her intentions for this wish did have some kind of selfless reason behind it, she would avoid judging her for it and instead keep quiet. When Nyx came to the next part about her wish, she asked Videl something very important.

Since wishing the enemies of Earth away was out of the option, what kind of wish could she use to hurt them in some terrible way? She showed a sign of visible thinking by cupping her chin in her gloved hand and closing her eyes. There wasn't a lot she could think of, other than one thing. In a flash, her eyes opened and they sparkled with a case of inspiration, a rather evil smirk appearing on her face. One thing about Videl that few knew was that she could be rather vicious and spiteful towards those that threatened Earth.

"I know of one wish you could make. Have you ever heard of something called Murphy's Law? It's an Earth adage with a simple rule behind it, and that rule is this: Anything that can go wrong, WILL go wrong. It's essentially being struck with a curse of bad luck that means anything you do that has the ability go wrong will always go wrong. It could be a long-lasting thing, or just for a single event. Imagine waking up in the morning and you wish to cook some eggs. At some point, you not only burn them, but they explode violently from overcooking them and you get burned, or imagine picking up a knife and you somehow grab the blade, resulting in cutting or even stabbing your hand.

That is Murphy's Law, anything you do in your life that can go wrong will go wrong. It's essentially a Law of Reality that encompasses bad luck, because luck is something you can never plan for. Luck strikes in either it's good or bad form, and Murphy's Law is something dedicated entirely to the concept of bad luck. I'm sure you know where I'm going with this, but I'll tell you my idea anyway.

My idea is to wish for the BBA and NRRA to be cursed with Murphy's Law. Essentially, I want you wish for them to get cripplingly bad luck, like to the point that anything that can go wrong for them will always go wrong"
she informed Nyx with that evil little smirk on her face, her eyes alight with a gleam of vicious and sadistic intent

Nyx blinked, actually stopping in her tracks as she proceeded what Videl was saying. It was true that her line of thought was becoming more different. Ever since she came to this planet she had been more prone to emotional responses then at sny other point in her life. Now that Videl brought it up, she did have hope driving her. Nyx was always persistent, but hope was something she never had. There was no use for something like that in her logical mindset. She looked down at the ground, almost mumbling her next words.

"More human huh? It would be surprising if I didn't have hope after learning about what Earth can do."

Nyx hurried to catch up with Videl, walking beside her once again as she compete posted her words. Earth was having more of an effect on her then she thought it was. A little bit of hope was alright, but too much would completely destroy her mindset. She couldn't afford to let go of her nature now.

Nor do I wish to completely change. My identity is one of the few possession I have left. I won't throw it away or let it become unrecognizable. I must complete the missions I have left. I can't do that if humanity fills my heart.

Nyx didn't show it, but she very impressed by Videl's knowledge of Murphy's law. She didn't expect for it be brought up in a clever way like that. Despite knowing that they were capable of amazing feats, they just kept on surprising her.

"It's a tempting idea, although I'm not certain that wish would work. We'd have to test it out to make sure. I have a plan based around wishes that will work for certain though. First I will gather the dragonballs on Earth and wish for instant transfmission. From there we'll wait until a period Earth Dragon balls are active again. We can't use them all to magically wish them away. But if we used them in the middle of a critical battle, then we could put an end to Earth's enemies once and for all."

It might have been a trick of the sunlight, but Nyx's eyes appeared to be glowing softly. Perhaps if wasn't a trick. Nyx was fond of devising strategies: it was by far her greatest talent.

"Once that is accomplished, we will go to Namek and collect the dragonballs. We will also gather the ones on Earth and summon the dragons during the battle. The first wish wish that be for all data and research projects belonging to the Red Ribbon Army and anyone who is or has been associated them in any way be transferred to a device capable of holding that memory, and for all of it to be deleted from their computer systems once the transfer is complete. That covers the Black Bow army as well, since they are founded by machines created by the Red Ribbon army. This will give us good Intel on their battle plans. Then the remaining four wishes will be made to suit particular situations that will arise in the battle. We will use the dragonballs as offensive and defensive weapons during a decisive battle.

Nyx paused, letting all that sink in and thinking about the future. This was going to be a very long and dangerous track, and she was going to need all the help she could get. She turned to her, speaking lowly as she addressed her human friend.

"I should probably explain who this who the "we" I'm referring to is. We need to unite the factions dedicated to defending Earth into one entity. It's a negotiation that I won't be able to do on my own. I will need credible individuals backing me up during them. And this's where you come in. You and your husband control the Z fighters. You have good relations with the Kings Guard. We could bring them together. I plan on bringing up the proposals to each organization in turn when the time is right, but I will need your support."

Nyx turned to Videl, looking at her seriously as she continued on with her plan.

"This is why I come to you today. I can't gather the dragonballs or form this alliance on my own. We all need to work together if we're going to save humanity. I decided to bring this plan to you first because you have powerful influence, and I trust you. What say you to this plan? It's risky, but the Earth is in considerable danger. We are going to have to take risks if we're going to triumph."

Videl continued walking, only stopping when she noticed the lack of footsteps from Nyx. Turning around, she cocked her eyebrow up in curiosity when she saw that the Sigerian had her head down and heard her mumble to herself under her breath about something. She didn't know what she was saying to herself, but she guessed it had something to do with what she said about Nyx becoming more Human. Whether or not she liked that, she didn't know. She could tell that her comment had effected the Sigerian a bit, enough to effect her visibly. She felt that she needed to say something to comfort her, so she did.

"I'm not saying becoming more Human-like in thinking is a bad thing for you. While you Sigerians are logical and such, human traits like hope and the iron will are good to have. If you combine the tenacity and hope of Humans with the intelligence of your own race, I have no doubt your race would become even more powerful than they already are. I've noticed something about even ordinary Humans that have to do with their tenacity and iron will, and I'm sure if you harnessed it, you could go beyond even the strongest of your race.

When a Human is truly motivated, they are capable of things they normally aren't. I've seen even ordinary, out-of-shape Humans perform amazing feats when they are pushed. If you can adopt our ideals of hope and our tenacity, you could become far stronger than you were in the past. Look at myself, I became so strong when I powered through all obstacles in my path to become as strong as I am. I'm sure if you put your all into it, you could become truly great"
she said in an encouraging manner, hoping to cheer her up some.

Videl nodded her head in understanding when Nyx said the wish might not work. That was probably the case, but it couldn't hurt to try at all. One should explore every avenue available to them when making a wish on the Dragon Balls, after all. Always find out what you can and cannot wish for on the Dragon Balls, that way you'll have a huge list of do's and dont's with them. Regardless, she looked at Nyx as she explained what her plans were, and nodded her head along with the plan she had listed in detail.

The part that made her blink, however, was when Nyx explained the two of them working together to unite the factions of Earth. It was an interesting proposal, and one that she could see having merits. The Z-Fighters, the King's Guard, and that more neutral-aligned Final Heaven faction all working towards the goal of wiping out the enemies of Earth was a good one. She did have a lot of influence, what with her being the Daughter of Hercule Satan, as well as the new Ox Princess. She knew that such a goal was realistic, and it could work with some fine-tuning.

The thing that surprised her the most was that not only did Nyx admit that she needed help with this plan, but that she also admitted that she trusted Videl. The Sigerian was always so private, and as such the crime fighter was caught off-guard by the admission of trusting her. She was so caught off-guard by it that the surprise was even visible on her face. The fact that Nyx was asking for her help on the matter and letting her know that she trusted Videl showed that she had actually come to become close with the artificial alien.

"It's a sound plan, of that there is no doubt. Besides, I'm needing to hunt after the Dragon Balls again, anyway, as I need to make another wish, one of which is similar to the last wish I made. Kibitoshin, the Supreme Kai, has access to something I need, and provided I get one of these wishes for myself, I'll be able to get access to it. What I need from him is very valuable, and one that could really help out in a fight when in a tight pinch, so I'd be happy to help you with this task of yours.

As for the idea of uniting Earth's factions together to stop the BBA and NRRA, it is a sound one. I will dedicate all I have to helping you unite the Earth against them. They are nothing more than power-hungry warmongers and bigots who want the Earth for their own selfish ends. As long as I continue to breathe, they will never succeed at conquering this place"
she said in a passionate manner, her gloved hands clenching into fists as she said this. She was going to make sure that everything became a success, nothing and no one would stop her.

Nyx simply nodded as Videl did what she could to make her mood better after the observation that the young human had made. She could sensed that it had bothered Nyx and was trying to make her feel better. It wasn't as though the human intended to hurt her with that comment though. She had just said something that Nyx couldn't help but focus on now. Still, her words did help her take her mind off it, and she internally thanked Videl for that.

"You're absolutely right. If seems as though the proper solution is to simply just combine the best traits of our races together. Perhaps one day I will be able to utilize your species tenacity and iron will alongside the traits I already have. I wIll become strong again. Although I don't think I can ever regain the strength I had in the beginning. The strength I gave away for the sake of peace. It's a very nice dream though, I will admit that much."

Nyx had been paying close attention to Videl as she brought up her plan with her. Her reactions seemed encouraging. What she was proposing was a rather drastic maneuver after all, and would not be easily accomplished. There was no guarantee that Videl and the rest of the Z-fighters would get behind it. Fortunately it seemed like she had nothing to worry about in that regard. The main problem was that Videl wanted a wish of her own in exchange for helping gather the Earth set of Dragon balls. That wasn't all that surprising, and what Videl wanted would actually help the war effort on Earth. Although this did interfere with certain arrangements Nyx had made.

"I promised someone already to reunite them with a long lost family member with one of the wishes. They're helping me collect the dragonballs and are providing significant assistance in certain ventures. I made a promise with them, and it's the least I can do for them. Perhaps we could met halfway Videl. This Otherworld you keep on bringing up seems to be a tangle location in the universe. My original wish was going to be to acquire a slightly modified version of the Instant Transmission technique. Perhaps I could extend the wish so that both you and I learn the technique. You know the Ki signature of King Kai, so you should be able to track it and warp to that location. Which will allow you to visit the Supeme Kai by extension, since he will be in the same realm. Or maybe you can warp directly to him if you find his signature. Of course this modded version of the technique would allow you to go places you've already been to without having to lock onto a signature. This way you can get what you want while getting a useful technique that will come in handy in many situations. It must be an important item if you're willing to travel so far to obtain it. I believe that this idea is worth a try. In my opinion of course. My opinion is usually very valuable though, and is worth a great deal."

Nyx was glad to see Videl this fired up with defeating the forces that threatened Earth. She would be a very valuable ally to have on the battlefield, and a very valuable friend to have. As such, it was worth discussing battleplans with her.

"It's very important that the alliance itself is treated as its own group. Going by how you explained how some of the wishes work, I have a theory. If you can connect a group of people, you can spread the effects of the wishes across all of them. If you want to revive someone killed by a group of people, then all of them will revive because they were associated with one another. I'm guessing a similar concept would apply if we all united under one banner. We could apply one wish to help the entire alliance under those circumstances. Which means we wouldn't have to waste more wishes then we would have to. That's what I've gathered from what you told me so far."

Nyx had been giving this quite a bit of thought. She would use the dragonballs as efficiently as possible in the war effort against the enemies of Earth. Everything had to be done just right in order to succeed though. Spending resources wisely was something Nyx was very familiar with. It was a very unusual resource, but a resource nevertheless.

Videl smiled and nodded her head, glad that Nyx was able to see that having a more human mindset wasn't a bad thing. It would allow her to push past her limits and be able to truly obtain levels of power previously thought to be unattainable for her. She knew that Nyx could do it, she could tell she was capable of reaching levels of strength she thought she was unable to get back up to. Hearing this, she knew she had to say something so she could encourage Nyx to think more positively about the level of power she could obtain.

Placing her hands on both of Nyx's shoulders, she shook her a bit and looked her dead in the eye with an expression of absolute seriousness on her face. "Don't talk like that, Nyx. Part of the reason the more outstanding Humans have been able to achieve such success, regardless of the odds of us actually succeeding in what we want, is because we didn't doubt ourselves even once. We've learned that as long as we doubt ourselves, even slightly, than what we think will most definitely come true. You can't afford to think like that of yourself even once.

The only way you'll even have a chance of obtaining the level of power you used to have, is if you genuinely believe that you can do it. No matter how small the odds of that actually happening are, it's still a chance. If you give into your doubts even once, then it automatically becomes a guarantee that you'll fail. You need to believe you can do it if you want even a small chance of actually obtaining the level of power you used to be at. After all, I'm living proof that such a thing is very much possible.

Just once, you need to let your hope guide you and train like your life depends upon it. The reason why Humans like myself always seem to defy the odds is because we believe in ourselves and take chances. Those who never take chances will never really succeed in life. Even a small chance is better than no chance, and it's why we Humans have managed to pull off such surprising things. Yes, it'll most likely take a long tome for you to reach the old level you were at, but you need to believe in yourself if you want even the slightest chance of success. So stop doubting yourself and harden your resolve"
she said to Nyx in a supportive manner.

When Nyx explained exactly what it was she was going to do, Videl thought about it for a moment and nodded her head, figuring that that was fair. She wasn't going to ask Nyx to go back on her promise to help her friend, who she presumed was actually Mizuna, and instead decided to accept her deal. That was the best she was going to get, and it was still better than nothing at this point in time. So, with a nod of her head, she replied.

"That is acceptable to me. I need to get to Kibitoshin because what I want from him is called the Potara Earrings. When two fighters of any Race and gender each wear one of the earrings, their bodies will fuse together for a certain amount of time and become one. Their powers are then combined and multiplied to turn them into one super strong fighter. The Potara makes it possible for two fighters who are both weaker than their opponent to combine into one fighter who has the strength to be as strong as them, or even stronger. I'm seeking Kibitoshin out for those earrings, so it is true when you say they can help the war effort on Earth" she explained to Nyx.

She then nodded her hear to show she understood what Nyx had to say, understanding that how they set up the alliance would effect the people wished back by the Dragons. She knew that would be for the best, and it might not be easy since all the groups who hated the NRRA and BBA had their own stuff to take care of. However, she had to try if she wanted this to succeed.

Nyx slightly tensed up for a moment when Videl's hands made contact with her shoulders, but quickly relaxed once she got used to it. Nyx stared back into her eyes incredulously at her. She still looked calm, but quite a bit skeptical as well. She clearly knew something that Videl didn't, and was able to fill her in on it.

Skeptical Nyx

"I was a Siria along with my brother at one point in my life. To put my former strength when I was at my strongest into perspective, I could have fought you as you are right now When I was 15 and actually keep up with you. And we were only getting stronge. At this point in his life, my brother could probably take you and your husband on at the same time, and at best it would be an even match. If my calculations on the progression of his strength are accurate, which they are. Still that Kai-Ken is an incredible ace in the hole. If you and Gohan pushed him enough, you might even force my brother to use the technique that only Siria's have possessed. I've only seen someone push him to using that ability only once. That individual is obscenely powerful in their own right. Implying that I could reach my full strength again is a nice thought and good motivation, but getting up to that power naturally would take years."

Fortunately Videl accepted the compromise that Nyx came up with. So everything was still going according to plan. In fact, it was actually working out better then she initially hoped it would. She and one of her most powerful allies would get a very useful technique at the same time, which would allow Videl to get the item that.... FUSED ANY BEINGS TOGETHER?!

Nyx did a double take, her eyes widening and her mouth opening slightly. Fusion was one of the most coveted abilities sought out by the Dominus Alliance. The Ignoid side had once started a war against an entire species capable of it just to get access to it themselves. There was usually a limitation on fusion abilities though, as powerful as they were. More specifically, there were limitations on the dompatwbility between who or what you could fuse with. These earrings were items that fused anyone though, which was far behind anything Nyx had ever encountered before. It wasn't even a bloodline ability that a race had: they were items that anyone could use. Nyx then closed her eyes, smiling as the absurdity of the situation dawned on her. Things just kept on getting more and more surreal.

Nyx Accepting the Strangeness

"You have access to a techniwue like that. This might sound like a tad bit too hopeful, but is there by any chance an ability that can stop someone from controlling other people? It wouldn't hurt to ask at this point. This planet and its inhabitants seems to have an answer for almost all of my problems. Honestly, how has Earth stayed off the radar of the galactic community for this long?"

Videl's eyes hardened over and she tightened her grip on Nyx's shoulders, shaking her a bit more. She wasn't going to accept her doubt over her being able to get back to her old level of strength. Of course she knew that such a thing would take a while, if what she said about her old level of strength is as powerful as she claimed it was. Regardless of that, though, she needed to know that in order to have the tenacity, iron will, and hope of humanity, she would need to believe in herself, believe that she could do it.

"You're not getting my point, Nyx. The reason why people like me, and other noteworthy Humans, stand out and become notable is because our iron will, our tenacity, our hope is what drives us. We never doubt ourselves for a moment, we genuinely believe that if we push ourselves hard enough, we will succeed. If you wish to adopt those traits of humanity, you need to believe in yourself, you need to believe you can do it. I know for a member of a logical race like yourself that faith and belief might not be something super strong, but you need it to be if you wish to get anywhere.

People like myself and others aren't bothered by odds our low chances, we take risks and dive headlong into what we wish to accomplish. Sometimes success can't be achieved without taking a chance. Yes, there is a possibility that you will never reach the old level of strength you had before, or even the strength to match up to your brother. If you give in to that doubt, though, it's no longer a possibility, it becomes a guarantee. Ignore the logical part of your mind for a moment and answer this question I have for you.

Do you wish to become as strong as you used to be, do you wish to be strong enough to face your brother evenly, or even beat him? If you do, than you can't allow your logic or your doubts to stop you from trying to reach that goal. Being bogged down by low chances and probabilities of success, or by your own doubts, is the same as giving up. Even if you're right and that you may never reach such a level, a low chance of succeeding is still better than giving up and guaranteeing failure.

That is why you can't let your doubts or your low chance of succeed get to you. The hope and iron will of Humanity are as powerful as they are because we let out firm beliefs in them guide our actions. Stop letting your logic and mathematical calculations of success bog you down, and just let your emotions guide you on your path to obtain strength. Have faith in yourself, and I know you will succeed. After all, what's the point of even training at all if you have no desire to reach the level you wish yourself to be at?"
she said to Nyx.

Videl gave time for Nyx to think about what she said, and instead moved on to her reaction to the Potara Earrings. She could tell the Sigerian was surprised by them, but then just rolled with it. That was good, it showed that she was getting used to the surprising things that Earth and their non-Earthling comrades were capable of. She was glad for that, as it meant that she was starting to understand that, despite the weakness and lack of advanced science on the level of Nyx's race, Earth and it's people still had amazing things they were capable of.

When Nyx asked about whether or not they had a Technique that could prevent things like mind control and such, she raised an eyebrow up and cupped her chin in curiosity. It was an interesting question, one that she didn't have a definitive answer to, either. She felt that such a technique was most definitely possible, but she didn't know of one just yet. Deciding to be honest, she chose to speak up and let Nyx know her answer. Honesty had worked with her so far, who's to say it won't continue to work with her?

"No technique springs to mind immediately, but I'm sure such a technique is possible. The Kais or Kibitoshin might know. It really depends" she said in an honest manner as she shrugged her shoulders. She felt that lying would not help either of them here, Nyx least especially. After all the stuff she had told her already, she was sure that the Sigerian would be angry with her for lying about this one particular thing. Honesty had gotten her very far with Nyx already, so the best course of action would be to continue being honest with the smart, logic-minded alien.

Once again, Nyx was reminded of the complete and utter tenacity that humans had. Of course a human wouldn't give up. Even if there was the slightest chance of success, they would do anything it took to seize that opportunity. Was that truly necessary in order to succeed? Was she doomed to failure if she didn't approach things from that angle? She had been getting almost nowhere with all the tactics she had used in the past. Perhaps if really was time to come at things from another angle. Nyx thought carefully about what Videl said before giving the human her response.

"To tell you the truth, I'd rather not be that strong ever again if I can help it. I want to be strong enough to carry out my goals, and maybe get my hands on the ultimate technique I threw away. It is a considerably powerful ability that's useful in desperate situation. That means I'll never be able to defeat my brother in a one on one fight, but at this point it's more important to me to accomplish what I set out to do. I'm not going to be particular as to how they get accomplished. With the exception of a certain lose end, I'd be fine if I had help in completing my goals."

Nyx thought back to herself when she was at her strongest. It was an existence she didn't completely enjoy. In fact, there were certain aspects of it that she disliked. While there were some things that she really needed from back then, Nyx was convinced that throwing it away was the right thing to do, for quite a few reasons.

"My life has been much more interesting since I became weaker. When you aren't as powerful, people tend to show their true selves around you. My people were going to worship and follow my orders professionally no matter what: if I didn't have that power, the only thing that would have changed would be that they wouldn't have worshiped me. Other races though, they were so terrified of what I could do. I've found conversations with equals and superiors to be far more interesting then that of people far below you. Especially if they know what you can do. My reputation preceded me: Nyx, the fourth Siria of the Sigerian race. They knew that I was terrifyingly powerful even before they met me. They always played nice or groveled before me. It was all the same to me. I don't want to return to that state again. Let me tell you a little story that takes place back when I was younger then you.

And Thus Nyx proceeded to take Videl back to the time she realized that she would always be on a tier above everyone else. It was at a time in a life before she could get fully integrated into the network. Even when she finally did, it was harder for her people to help control her emotions like they did with the rest of their species. Her power was not easily contained after all.

Flashback: Hollow be thy life.

The day had finally ended, and a very young Nyx was preparing herself to go to bed. She took a quick cold shower and dried herself off using her abilities and a towel. She dressed in her typical sleep ware and went over to the king sized bed. She pulled the soft sheets over herself, looking up at the ceiling and thinking about the events of today. A fairly strong, young Ignoid wanted to prove itself in battle against the famed Siria, and so he had launched an attack at her.

She defeated him easily enough, although his taunts had made her lose control of her powers temporarily. As brief as it was though, ice had pieced both the hearts of one of her favorite guards, killing him instantly. It was another reminder that she hadn't yet mastered the incredible power that she possessed. Not only that, but her connection to the network revealed that some repercussions might result from this event. The Ignoid's mother was demanding for justice for the death of her son. Nyx wasn't going to be punished for it, but it was possible someone in her race might take the fall. Nyx sat up in bed, wrapping both arms around her pillow and pressed it against her chest tightly. She was unable to sleep the entire night.

A Sleepless Night

The next Nyx was walking into one of the main food terminals, wearing a white dress and black dress shoes. It was a very large structure shaped like a sphere, with a domed room lined with metal beams. The ceiling and many parts of the wall seemed to be nothing more then glass overlooking space. There was a considerably lovely view of the green planet they were orbiting. They were the first to come here, so it had not yet been named.

As Nyx moved to get her food, everyone got out of her way. All the Sigerians respectfully bowed to her, while most of the Ignoids present glared at her. Nyx could have just asked for food to be brought to her, but she wanted to get it for herself. Besides, she felt like walking out alone anyway. Not that she was truly alone: she was connected to her race through the network.

There were indeed repercussions for the events of yesterday. Nyx's first cousin was married off to the Ignoid's second oldest daughter. This wasn't an uncommon practice between the two races, although this time there were repercussions due to the conditions in pace. Usually a female Sigerian female married a male Ignoid to keep the power balance in check. Ignoids were a society run by the females, so giving her a male husband meant they had control over him. The second condition was that he was disconnected from the Sigerian network and added to the Ignoid network, thus separating him from the rest of his race. He would be reconnected once he had performed his duties and produced a daughter. This meant now that the zig lids had just gotten a bit foothold into the Sigerian royalty. The two races were close allies, but they were always vying for being the dominant one over the other.

Suddenly Nyx found herself surrounded by 20 Ignoids. She looked up into the face of Hecate Snoflare, the next youngest sibling under the one who married her cousin. They had her cousin, who was someone Nyx was fond of. Nyx had ordered for them not to harm any of the Ignoid's, no matter what happened. Unfortunately they took full advantage of this, and used this opportunity to try and get back at her.

"You know, I fully agree with my mother on this one. It doesn't matter if you have all the power in the world if you're too scared to use it. I'm surprised you have as much sympathy as you do for any member of your race." Nyx looked up at her, calmly looking up from her plate of food.

"He's a family member with a high position. I just don't want to see such a valuable asset harmed. That's all there is to it."
Hecate snorted, waving her hand in front of her face dismissively.

"Sure, whatever you say. Speaking of family though, my mother talked to your brother. Another arrangement was made. He decreed that if anything happened to you, none of us would be punished for it." Hecate grinned, before all the Ignoids and herself transformed around her. They were had white coloring over their bodies, even though most of them looked different from one another. Hecate raised both of her hands, blue flames running along long claws extending from her hands.

Hecate's True Form

Nyx wasn't worried about this, until she heard the thud of a bunch of bodies around here she turned, her eyes widening as she saw that many of the Sigerians stabbed others through the neck, causing them to fall to the ground dead. The one that were killed were loyal to her. Nyx realized then that her brother actually intended to have her killed. Ever since she was revealed to be. Siria, he hated her existence. Although this was the first time he had done anything this openly hostile against her. Hecate giggled, blue flames rising up around her.

"You know, marrying your cousin to us wasn't a significant amount punishment. Me and my new friends are going to take your life now. It's the only thing that equal to the loss of my brother."

With that, everyone in the room lunged at Nyx. The battle raged on for awhile, the energy shields managing to hold through all of it. Despite the fact that Nyx managed to take down quite a few opponents, she was outnumbered and her opponents were fiercely strong. Her brother had picked very elite troops to go after her, and the Ignoids were a force to be reckoned with as well. Eventually Hecate had Nyx backed up against the wall, her claws pressed up against her throat.

"Your status couldn't save you. I'm going to send you to the void so that my brother will have a shot at you again. I hope you suffer painfully at his hands." Nyx glared at Hecate, her aura shooting up around her.

Nyx Facing off against Hecate

"The only ones going to the void are the ones who betrayed me. I don't intend on following suit. You've forced this upon yourself: I never wanted to use this form, but I've been pushed too far today. THIS ENDS NOW."

There a column of energy shot up, completely obscuring Nyx's body. She assumed the transformed state that made a Siria such a fierce opponent to deal with. She quickly dispatched of the traitorous Sigerians and beat the Ignoids within an inch of their life. She had promised not to harm them, and did all she could to abide by it. She couldn't avoid hurting them, but they escaped with their lives. When it was over, Nyx was escorted back to her quarters by loyal Sigerians in the base. There was now talk of a civil war brewing among her people. Once she was alone, Nyx walked over to her bed and buried her face in her pillow. It was going to be another sleepless night for the young Sigerian. [/I]

End of Flashback

"The more power you have, the more influence you'll have. Even if you aren't trying to do anything, trouble naturally comes your way. I don't want to be that strong again. Living that life once was enough for me."

Nyx was quiet after that, simply nodding in response to Videl's answer to her earlier question. She had more battle strategy to discuss with the human, but it could wait for a few minutes. She wanted to make the foul taste this memory always gave her fade away before continuing her business with the young human.

Videl quirked an eyebrow up in curiosity when Nyx stated that she would actually prefer to not be as strong as she was before. That was an interesting thing to say, since she figured if one lost a lot of their power, they would want to do everything possible to get it back. The fact that Nyx didn't wish to do that was mind-boggling to Videl, but she figured that she had a good reason to say that. So, she stayed silent and waited for Nyx to explain why she would rather not be as powerful as she was before.

Her grip on Nyx's shoulders slacked a bit as she heard her talk about how the people treated her when she was as powerful as she was. She admitted to hating how people worshiped her and were so respectful to her just because she was so strong. She hated how people would act in ways not themselves when they were around her just because she was so strong. The idea of people acting differently around you just because you were strong enough to make them fear you was a concept she didn't really like. She couldn't imagine being that utterly strong.

Oh sure, she was well on her way of being that strong, but the idea of being so strong that people knew you by name and face, and thus walked on eggshells around you, was something that she wasn't going to enjoy when she grew to be powerful enough. Granted, there was the fact that she wouldn't be showing her power off to everyone around her and advertising how strong she was. The people she had come to care for wouldn't treat her any different, no matter how strong she became. She knew this for a well-established fact, she didn't have anything to fear on that front.

Then, before she could say anything, Nyx went off on a long tale of what convinced her to give up almost all of the power she had. The story she told was an interesting one, and by the time it was over, it caused Videl to adopt a thoughtful expression. It was a story that provided a good reason why it wouldn't be so desirable to get as strong as Nyx was in the past. She understood her argument very well, of that there was no doubt in her mind about that. Deciding to let Nyx know, she spoke up.

"I understand your mindset now, Nyx. That being said, even if you don't wish to become as strong as you want to before, if you intend to accomplish your goals like you just claimed, you need to be able to push past your limitations, let go of your doubts and keep going no matter how bad the odds are. That's the only way you'll truly get to be as strong as you want, be able to accomplish all you set out to do" she said to her.
