Noudelle wiped the sweat from her brow as the sun beat down on her. She ducked her head beneath the hood of the now broken down hover car, grateful for the limited shade that it offered. It appeared as though the anti-gravity stabilizers were run down. Without spar parts to replace them it was going to be difficult to get the thing working again. Wandering around to the back seat Noudelle grabbed her tool box and brought it with her, setting it on the engine. Opening the box she grabbed several tools and went about the agonizing process of pulling the stabilizers from the engine so she could have a better look at them. An hour later and Noudelle yanked the part free to turn it over for better examination. Noudelle sighed upon spotting a large crack running along the plating of the stabilizer. There was no way she was going to repair it certainly not with what she had on hand. The hover car had gotten her this far but it appeared that she was going to have to walk the rest of the way to Central City. The mechanic tossed the broken part into the vehicle's back seat before placing the hover car back into its capsule for easy carrying. Holding onto her tool box in one hand and the canteen in the other Noudelle began striding down the road. She whistled a little tune to herself while she tried to ignore the heat, instead thinking about getting to Central City and joining the King's Guard. All in all things weren't as bad as they could have been. Maybe someone would even drive past and offer her a ride. It was a nice thought even if the road looked as though it had not been used in quite some time. WC: 300 |

She took a deep, relaxing breath of the fresh outdoor air as she walked along the road that led into the city. She stopped and took a moment to admire the way the sun reflected off the glossy, sky-piercing buildings that belonged to the beauty that is Central City. It was normal for Haze to wonder along the city borders. Truth be told, she never seen any cites such as the ones on Earth before. She was always interested, but never really made any true attempt to learn more about them. It seems these Earthlings have more intelligence to offer than the other races she encountered, she could figure out at least that much. Even if she was reluctant about it, she wanted to get a closer examination. She decided that today would be the day she'd go into the city, nothing could go wrong, could it? It would've been faster and efficient to fly to the city, but there was nervousness that pulled at Haze's core. She didn't want to rush it; it's going to be there waiting for her, it's not going to disappear so why hurry. A leisurely stroll was just as good as flying. You know what they say, it's the trip that counts after all. Upon walking, she noticed a person--A earthling female strolling down the street towards the town. Haze tilted her head at her appearance, she looked strange to her. It was easy to see her past the heatwaves due to the hues of her clothing, plus the black lining around the changeling's eyes help block out the annoyance of extreme hot weather. She perked up. Yeah, maybe she could tell her about the history of these cities, she lives here, right? She hesitated for a little bit, contemplating wither or not it was a wise decision. From what she seen, Earthlings don't really take too kindly to outer space inhabitants. Haze nodded to herself, she was sure she'd be okay. The human didn't look too threatening. But that did raise the question, why was she walking? Usually Earthlings who past down these roads ride in a vehicle, so why didn't she? "'Cuse me, Miss. But could I have your assistance?" Haze called out once she got within earshot of the human. She raised and waved her hand boorishly before quickly putting it back down. Was that the right gesture to get her attention? She should believe so, otherwise, that book she read on human interaction had been nothing but lies. WC: 414 Edited by Haze, Dec 15 2016, 06:40 AM.

Noudelle had been so focused on watching the road in front of her that she did not even notice the other person until they spoke. She blinked as she was startled from her spacing out to look over in the direction that the voice had come from. It was hard to make out details given the haze of the heat rising off the ground. Noudelle took off her glasses and wiped them of any dirt or dust before putting them back on and squinting. Again, the mechanic couldn't pick out much except that she was wearing a lot of blue? "Me?" She asked and looked around to make sure there wasn't anyone else. Upon seeing that they were the only two people out on this mountain road Noudelle shrugged and began making her way over. "Sure! If I can help at all I would be glad to. What is the prob...?" The young woman paused as she got a much clearer look at her fellow traveler. The blue clothing wasn't clothing at all. Or it certainly wasn't any clothing Noudelle had seen before. It looked like armor almost or maybe some kind of chitinous shell like an insect. The tail also gave her pause. This was no normal wandering person. But Noudelle had also been taught the importance of manners and treating others hospitably so she wasn't about to stop just because a lady looked weird. "Oh. Um. Right. Problem. What's the problem you're having?" She closed the distance with maybe a twinge of hesitance in her steps. The closer she got the more obvious it was that this person was not human or really like anything Noudelle had seen before. But again there was no cause for rudeness. Walking closer she offered her hand to this stranger and smiled before speaking again. "Hello! I'm Noudelle and it is nice to meet you! What's your name?" WC: 313 TWC: 613 |

Haze gave a small benevolent smile to the human female, completely unaware of how out-of-place she looked compared to the habitats here on earth. Nevertheless, she did her best to try and look sociable as possible; she didn't want to give off a bad impression especially on a planet that was not her own nor was she familiar with. She glanced down at the young lady's extended hand that she offered in greeting with plain confusion expressed on her face. She believed she read something about this; that humans would often "shake hands" when meeting someone new. It was a very unusual mean of introduction, especially to the changeling, but she'd go along with it if it meant finding a new opportunity to expand her knowledge. "Hello, my name's Haze." She reached out a softly took hold of Noudelle's hand, "I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to tell me about your city. It's very different from the ones I'm used to, I'm interested in learning more about your culture." She gestured towards the city itself, which was in distant view from the two. She was then reminded of another thought on her mind when she asked about her means of transportation. "Also, I couldn't help but notice...you're walking instead of riding in one of those hover cars. Is there a reason why?" She pointed out, her deep red eyes wide with curiosity. There had to be some reason this human was out here walking along the road instead of driving like she seen so many others do. There wasn't any signs to point out she was doing this willingly, or was she? She certainly didn't look like it. Haze had seen many other earthlings walk or run for sport, but they wore light, flexible clothing. She wouldn't wear that to go for a leisure run, especially not in this heat. Last time she checked, humans couldn't handle extreme conditions as well as the other races she knew. WC: 333 CC: 1860 Edited by Haze, Dec 16 2016, 07:11 AM.

Noudelle noticed that this odd person didn't immediate take her hand and shake it. In fact, this peculiar lady was looking at her hand like she didn't know what to do with it. But just before Noudelle could explain the gesture, the stranger took her hand but didn't shake it. Tilting her head, the mechanic couldn't help but grin considering the silliness of the situation. "Well, Haze, it is very nice to meet you!" The question was a little odd to her but she tried her best to answer it. "My city? I've never lived in a city, actually. I grew up in a little village that... well, it isn't there any more. It was destroyed recently by the Red Ribbon Army." Noudelle looked down the road, off into the distance, at the large city ahead. "That way, though, is Central City. I don't know everything about it. It is the most important city here, though, because that's where our King lives. I'm going there to hopefully join the King's Guard and help fight Red Ribbon. I really hope they accept me. I don't know what I would do if they didn't." Noudelle laughed at Haze's second question, nodding and patting the capsule in her pocket. "Yes. I had a hover car but it broke down. I'm just going to have to walk the rest of the way. Once I get to the city I can probably buy the part I need to get it working again." Haze still holding her hand, it took a little work for her to open her canteen with her other hand. She eventually managed it and took another sip of water but noticed it was beginning to run low on the precious liquid. Noudelle would have to conserve what she had left if she wanted to reach the city. "What about you? I hope you don't mind my saying so but you don't look like you're from around here. What brings you out here to the middle of nowhere?" Noudelle did her best to keep her questions to a minimum, though she had quite a few more that she wanted to ask. However, most of them weren't exactly polite. It was rude to ask someone about why they looked so different, after all. Even ruder most likely to ask if someone was an alien. "Why don't you come with me? We can learn more about the city together." WC: 401 TWC: 1,014 |

Haze listened intently on what the girl had to say. Although she was a bit disappointed that the other's knowledge about the city was lacking, at least she knew why it is the way it is. Even she understood the importance of royalty and how they always have the reoccurring sight of surrounding their living quarters with large cities. Her head tilted when she spoke about the Red Ribbon Army. From her time spent on earth, Haze never heard anything about them. Were they important? Perhaps they guarded the king, but if they did then why would the king fight against his own? Plus, there was no reason to attack a seemingly harmless village, at least, she should think so. She let go of her hand, "Why would you want to be apart of such a thing? It sounds meaningless to me." She commented, clearly she misunderstood. Haze nodded in response to her other question, it seems there might be some explanation that needed to be shared. "And you're right. I'm not from here at all, earth I mean." She answered her about what brought her here. "I wanted to document your races' ways of functioning since it's clear that you are the only evolved beings here. I bet you could already tell I don't reside here." She tittered, realizing how she stuck out like a sore thumb. "I wanted to learn more so that I could add it to my map of the universe, it's... a little hobby of mine." She reluctantly handed her the black journal that contained everything she learned thus far. It was filled with notes and small sketches of different wild life and building structures. Haze shifted her weight slightly, hoping she wouldn't ask her to elaborate on her history, there was a reason she didn't tell the earthling everything. "I understand if it's a lot to grasp. Even knowing this, do you still mind if I accompanied you to the city?" she asked warily, wondering if she had said too much to make the human run from her. WC: 343 CC: 1,905 |

Noudelle frowned, crossing her arms once Haze let go of her hand and looking off into the distance. "I wish it was meaningless. Unfortunately, our world isn't always a peaceful one. There are people who just want power and they'll do anything, hurt anyone, to get their hands on it. I want to join the King's Guard to keep the innocent people safe. I don't want anyone to go through what I did if I can help it." She chuckled a bit when her alien friend tittered, glad for the distraction from less pleasant thoughts. "I had a feeling. Our world has a lot of odd people but I've never seen anyone quite like you!" Noudelle curiously took the little book that Haze offered her, slowly flipping through it and pausing every so often to read a passage or admire a sketch. "That's really admirable wanting to learn about the galaxy. There's a lot out there but I hope you're able to study it all!" She smiled and handed the book back, "Of course I don't mind. I'm happy to help with your studies however I can! It might take a while to get there, though." The young human woman started down the road again towards the city, looking behind her to make sure Haze was following before continuing along.
