"Tch... It's cold out here. Should have picked a warmer place to make camp," Adali muttered to herself bitterly as she rubbed her arms to generate body heat. "If I follow the path south for a little while longer, I should reach North City. There wouldn’t be much point hiking all this way just to take the jet back, after all." Reaching down, she placed the map that she had laid out on a conveniently placed rock back into her duffle bag. Glancing up at the night sky as clouds formed overhead, the young woman sighed wearily – it had been a long day of travel heading down from the Tsumisumbri Mountains where Adali had spent the previous week conditioning herself to the extreme climate. For that reason, she looked significantly worse for wear. There were small cuts all over her body and her clothing was torn and dirty. The long, flowing blue hair she sported was tied up tightly in a ponytail and she wore a simple but efficient black duffle bag, in which she carried a few essentials – nothing more. "I might as well get some sleep while I can. There's supposed to be a storm brewing..." Exhaustion was beginning to take her over, so she crawled into a poor example of a tent that she had set up, laying down on the cold canvas floor, pulling a thermal blanket up as the only thing separating her from the freezing eternal winter of the far north. *** The next morning, the blue headed woman had already made it quite a few miles into her trek to North City, despite the storm raging overhead. Lightning filled the sky with thunderclaps roaring overhead, and rain pelted down making each step difficult as her boots would sink into the mud and provide resistance. Despite the weather, the morning had proven relatively uneventful, until she came to a clearing which looked to lead to a small town just on the border of North City. There was some sort of commotion ahead as sirens wailed in the distance. “Huh? What’s going on?” She asked, puzzled. The martial artist felt the need to investigate, pulling her soaked jacket tight over her as she headed into town. WC: 371 |

Sirens blared from a policeman’s grey hover scooter, in hot pursuit of a criminal. This criminal in question was a Cui like alien, covering his head and body with a black raincoat, pants and boots. He was riding on his own purple hover scooter, with one hand on the handle and another holding a silver briefcase. The policeman speeding to his target wore an orange rain coat over his police uniform, a small man with a white helmet on and an attached microphone which he spoke through. “Stop! This is the police! Please drop the briefcase and vehicle, and surrender immediately!” he warned him as per protocol. “Why don’t YOU drop dead you human midget!” cried the much younger and rebellious voice of the criminal. He let his hand go briefly, balancing on his the scooter before shooting if a yellow ki comet like blast towards the authority figure behind him. “If I had a zeni for every time I heard that one…” The human muttered to himself with a light sigh. He leaned to the side to slant his body as the ki blast flew past him, and then exploded harmlessly behind him. “Come on man, just stop before you hurt yourself!” he dropped his professionalism in an attempt to better relate to the person he was chasing. “The only person going to get hurt is you, officer shorty” The criminal retorted, and soon saw his chance when he reached a small town just on the border of the city. He grinned, hopping off the hover scooter and let it crash into into a resident’s house. “See you later sucker!” he laughed, floating in the air. He continued to rise higher and fired a barrage of yellow ki blasts that rained down upon the town, baiting the police officer to defend against it while he made his escape. “Damn it, not the town!” Krillin realised with grit teeth. With a burst of speed, he flickered out of sight, off his hover scooter and reappeared in front of energy blasts. Skilfully, he fired golden yellow energy blasts of his own to cancel out the ones incoming, just barely making it in time. To anyone watching, it would look like rapid collision of machine gunfire. “What’s wrong, can’t take the heat piggy? There’s more where that came from! Hahahahaha!” the alien cried hysterically, stepping up his game as he expanded the range of his energy blasts to effect a wider area to make things more difficult. Krillin’s ki senses tingled as he scanned the area around them with a brief closing of his eyes. Luckily the residents were all in their houses, but there was a random one heading towards them. From the corner of his eye, he could spot someone who would be caught in the crossfire. “Hey! Get away from here! It’s not safe!” he called to the person, and in doing that was forced on the defensive, blocking the barrage with crossed arms in an attempt to minimise the splash damage on the area. WC: 501 |

One minute, Maki had been poking her nose about all the different kinds of shops she could find and the weather seemed just fine at that point, but the next it was apparently storming with lightning flashing across the sky with loud, echoing claps of thunder rolling around above the city. The lightning flashes definitely caught the young raven-haired girl's attention and the sudden unrest in the city caused her blood to stir with excitement, causing the brown appendage around her waist to uncoil and flick back and forth behind her in excitement. She'd heard thunder claps a dozen times even out in the mountains with her Grandpa, but she could pick up another sound and that sound she was not familiar with! It was like some sort of dinosaur wailing 'wee-oh-wee-oh' over and over again. Kind of an annoying sound, actually. It still caught her attention, though and she definitely wanted to find out not only what it was but also where it was coming from, so she bent her knees forward and kicked off from the pavement, flaring up a white aura around her petite body as she took to the air. From the sky, she was able to spot a vertically challenged man with a funny looking rock on his head that read 'POLICE' across the front chasing some weird looking guy. Well, Makizushi had just the thing for that bad purple man! The raven-haired girl positioned herself in the air before shooting down like an arrow of justice with her left leg tucked in while her right foot was extended so that she would just end up sailing right into the guy, the sole of her boot catching him by the cheek, sending him flying from where he was into...well, whatever, she was more concerned with stopping his little performance. Maki kicks a baddie in the face! Maki touched down with her other foot onto the pavement, placing her feet evenly apart while she tucked her arms in by her sides. The sirens intensified as Adali approached, strange flashes of light illuminating the dark and storm sky in tandem with the lightning. Suddenly, a figure appeared out of what seemed like nowhere, defending against something the human hadn’t seen before and couldn’t comprehend. It was Krillin blocking the blast from the alien. “What the he—“ the astonishment on her face was short lived as the shock wave from the blast easily knocked her off her unprepared feet with a loud grunt. Despite being slightly winded and landing on the muddy ground hard, she sat up quickly enough to see what happened next. If Adali had not have seen it with her own eyes she wouldn’t have believed it – but there was a young girl floating on the other side of the conflict, suspended in the middle of the sky, staring down at the scene unfolding in front of them. The dark-haired girl wasn’t there for long, as gravity took its course and she began to shoot down towards the rebellious alien, leg extended for a fierce blow. A resounding crack, different from the powerful thunderclaps heard overhead, rang in the blue-headed teenager’s ears for a split second before the crazed criminal was sent flying towards her. Scrambling to get to her feet, the young woman was struggling to take in everything she had just seen. Despite being an experienced hand-to-hand fighter, she felt uncertain once finding her footing and raising her guard, simply because she didn’t know what she was raising her guard against. The alien landed a few feet away from her, causing her to back up slowly, shaking slightly due to the intense adrenaline that was flowing through her body. “What on earth is going on?” She asked herself aloud, gritting her teeth as the alien picked himself up and dusted himself off, cracking his neck and turning around to look at Adali. “Who did that? Was it you? You’re gonna regret that, you blue bitch!” Despite every fibre of her being putting up alarm bells saying that there were forces at work here she couldn’t deal with, she couldn’t help herself. “Whoa now,” she said as she transitioned from a traditional guard to a low-centred defensive stance. “There’s no need for that kind of language, you lizard faced tool.” Now clearly angry, the crook spat on the ground and jumped up, pulling a heavy fist around, aimed at Adali’s face. Gracefully, the woman parried it, twisting and continuing her momentum as her fist sunk into the black raincoat, hitting what she thought were his ribs. The alien snarled in pain, and with much more confidence the woman now followed through with another attempted open palm strike to the chest, only to have her wrist slapped away and held, out, rendering her defenceless. As if to return her attempted blow, an open palm came from the alien, stopping short. There was a brief moment in time where Adali thought he simply decided not to hit her, but then in another blinding flash of light, all manner of thought vanished from her mind. The woman didn’t know how far backwards the blast had thrown her, but she couldn’t feel the rain anymore. In fact, everything was burning. Opening a strained violent eye, she glanced down to see her clothing badly burnt and damaged, covered in mud and blood. The only thought she could manage was, am I hallucinating? Clearly not, I feel the pain, I know it was real. What is this unveiled world? For a woman who had won several tournaments and considered herself one of the top martial artists on Earth, on this dark, stormy day, her reality had come to a grinding halt. The purple alien continued his relentless onslaught of ki blasts, with Krillin staying put in blocking position to keep the majority of them targeted at him. “Damn it, at this rate…” he muttered as he felt the ground below him crack from the destruction. Out of nowhere the criminal was kicked in the face hard, and sent crashing to the ground fast too. “Huh? Pan?” he blinked at the newcomer, who resembled his best friend’s grand daughter. He thought it as her, but looking at her more closely and sensing out of ki, it was just a coincidence they looked similar. “That was a nice hit, thanks for the assist kiddo!” he called to her with a grin, His eyes narrowed as he looked around after sensing a brief spiking of ki, the purple alien had gotten back up and started fighting with the poor civilian that arrived on the scene earlier. He was surprised at the skill she showered, it was well refined. However, she was soon overpowered by a ki attack blasted her away. “Heh, looks like that did the trick, now to finish you off!” the alien declared, charging up a bright purple energy sphere before shooting it off at her, easily tearing up the ground between them. “Oh no!” Krillin quickly took a step forward and then flickered out of sight, teleporting in between Adali and the attack, with his hands out in front of him. “Kh!” He grit his teeth and slid back a little as he caught the purple energy wave, and then threw his hands up to have it deflect into the sky. “Sorry for dragging into this, will you be all right?” the monk asked her with a glance back, eyes still cautious at his foe. “Give up already, you’re clearly outnumbered!’ he told him. “Hmph, well I didn’t think you’d have backup. But I know just the way to even the odds and get out of here!” the criminal was not deterred but grinned as two copies of him faded in on both sides of him, making a total of five. “Have fun with these four, I’m out of here!” he said in finality before floating and then flying off with a plum coloured flight aura surrounding him. Krillin took a moment to address Adali and Makizushi, but mainly the latter as the former was injured. “I’ll leave these guys to you, I’m going after him!” he told them. A white aura flared about him before he blasted off, flying after the main purple alien that still held the stolen briefcase. WC: 426 TWC: 927 |
