Arcadius analyzed the surrounding area around it as tried to figure where exactly it was. The machine was in a state of confusion as it has been relocated to a Alien world. Even looking up into the sky and at the stars the it failed to find itself in the universe as nothing above matched anything in his data. The AI then turned to look at the scenery around it as it focused on trying to find points of interest while it created a digital map of the world around it. The man who brought Arcadius here also wouldn't be much of a help at this point as he had vanished from the AI's sight. Even the other people who were brought here had gone off to do their own thing. It wasn't until a shift in the weather in the east that Arcadius decided to stop wasting it's time where it stood and explore more in the distance. Hopefully after more analysis it would find the claim that the leader of the time breakers spoke of, less it would demand to return. WC: 182 |

A bolt of lightning struck the ground several meters away from Arcadius as it slowly moved though the storm it found itself in. The heavy wind that howled around the machine didn’t displace it in the slightest. It continued it’s pace across the wasteland as the AI tried to ponder why it was called upon to come here. The dry thunderstorm refused to let up in the slightest. Thunder rang out as more bolts of lightning struck the ground in fury. Suddenly, one of the bolts struck a near-by rock that broke into a dozen large pieces that were launched with incredible speed. One of the chunks struck Arcadius and due to it's contemplation it had received damage. A rather minor scratch to the exterior of it's armor but it was damage none the less. It was from this that Arcadius had a epiphany. It raised it’s left hand in the air as it if tried to summon a bolt of lightning to it by a form of magic. Thankfully nature, if it could be called that on this world, answered the machine. Lightning coursed from the sky and it struck it with great force. Electrical energy coursed though Arcadius’s circuits as they short-circuited in multiple areas. The green glow in the machine’s eyes flicked and faded as it keeled down to maintain stability. Internally, Arcadius calculated the damage it sustained. Fried and destroyed circuits, damaged motivators and micro fractures within it’s armor. It overridden it’s repair protocols however as the AI began to adjust it’s own design blueprints based on the damage that was inflicted. The primary goal of what it was trying to achieve was to improve itself based on how it was damaged. Over and over again, Arcadius recursively analyzed its body’s design and eventually it concluded it’s work. Nanites from the machine’s self repair system were produced and they repaired what needed to be repaired and adjust what needed to be adjusted. It’s eyes flickered back on as it rose from the ground. Arcadius moved it’s left arm into view of it’s primary optics and moved it about. The feeling of improvement was highly invigorating. It wasn’t enough however. Arcadius wanted more, far more. The machine raised it’s other arm’s cannon that was attached to it and pointed it towards the left. Energy was charged into it and it fired a blast of energy that badly damaged the left arm to the point of non-functionality. Once again, Arcadius did the same process of detecting the faults that allowed the damage to occur and then corrected it. The broken arm bled a gray substance which then morphed into what was required. The improvements that were achieved were also mirrored on the right arm as well as it became covered with the same substance as the left for a few moments before it dissipated. The concept of self-improving it’s own body was something that should had come as natural to Arcadius but yet it didn’t until now. Up until this point the AI was obsessed with self-preservation yet such actions could also be considered as such. A beneficial realization that was only accomplished thanks to the actions of the time breakers, or more to the point the actions of organic beings. Such is yet another reason why they must ultimately be terminated as they too can self-improve. As Arcadius came to terms with this it began the process of self-harm once again to improve it's body. - 6 hours later - Arcadius had broken it’s body as much as it could in order to analyze the damage. It had also spent an equal amount of a time formulating improvements in a recursive manner and apply them via the use of his integrated repair system. Arms were snapped off or melted down into scrap, legs were beaten to unusable stumps and broken down and even it’s head was severed from the torso multiple times. The remains of the ruined wreckage littered the area as Arcadius continued to seek out self-improvement in the design of it’s body. Now however it had run into an impasse of sorts. Despite improvement, Arcadius couldn’t no longer self-damage its own body, at least it’s exterior. Some of the more valuable core components of it’s body were much, much harder to perform self-improvement as if destroyed they would most likely mean permanent loss of either stored memory or even the ability to self-regenerate. To improve on it’s those critical components within it’s body would require a rather considerable setup to do so, one that Arcadius wasn’t able to create in the area it was in. With a quick calculation it theorized that it could inflict damage if it could expend more energy that it was able to produce. Such a thing would be rather realistic to find as there are many other members of the time breakers who could help with that. The only issue was to find one that wouldn’t outright destroy it out of sinister intent. The issue of also the helper in question being too weak would also be an issue. Another recalculation of the issue revealed another possible, if temporary, solution to this problem. Arcadius jumped into the air and flew a huge distance away from the small city and the previous wasteland it was in to locate a weak point within the tectonic plates. It flipped though multiple methods of vision as it’s gaze breached though the rock and into the depths of the planet to find what it needed. It took a while but it ultimately found what it was after. A faint line of heat from proximity 4000 meters down. Still in the sky, the machine’s front torso opened up, two sections of metal plates that moved in different sections, and revealed a cannon. It was Arcadius’s primary weapon, an energy emitter of a massive magnitude that would obliterate any organic target it was pointed at. The machine aimed it’s torso more finely as it aimed towards the thermal breach. Energy began to charge up as blue light slowly drew itself into the cannon’s mouth. A few moments later and the cannon discharged the light as a large beam of energy that punctured the ground. It took roughly twelve seconds, with the cannon that finished it’s discharge in half of that, before the Earth shook fiercely. A jet of lava burst forward from the hole that Arcadius made. The amount would most likely create a new mountainous landscape, although the lava would travel a fair distance. Arcadius didn’t care where it would end up. If any of the beings here would succumb to it in someway then it was their own fault. If organic beings perished from it then all the better. The machine looked at the pillar of fire it had called forth from the ground with a trance like stare as it ran calculations though it’s processors. A hand was raised and slowly the AI approached the lava column. Multiple sensors detected the massive rise in heat as it continue to approach without any real caution. Finally, the machine reached the pillar of lava that was still shooting out of the ground. With it’s reached out hand it dipped it directly into the molten rock. Reports of damage and eventually failure of the limb reached Arcadius’s processors as the machine removed what remained of it from the lava. A super-heated stump was all that was left of the arm as the AI began it’s process of self-improvement. Multiple recursions of design improvements occurred as the arm was slowly rebuilt. A few quick movements from the reconstructed limb were made before Arcadius restarted the process of melting off parts of it’s body. This time, it placed one of it’s legs in the burst of lava. The same process of destruction, self-improvement and reconstruction happened. The process took slightly longer however as a form of resistance was created against the heat and weight. The machine didn’t know how much longer it could utilize this method but it wouldn’t waste any time getting as much improvement as it could from the lava. WC: 770 TWC: 1,526 |

An hour have pasted since Arcadius began its experimentation with lava on it’s body and now thanks to its constant immersion and destruction of it’s limbs it could now outright survive being within lava completely. The exterior of it was now more or less immune to the natural heat that the molten rock produced. It’s weight was also a non-factor as well. This had greatly improved it’s durability in general. Now however the machine found itself back at square one. After several processing cycles on it’s next idea it decided to try and find more environmental hazards for it to damage it’s body on. Analysis of the area in multiple frequencies and methods drew a blank on such hazards however. It was then that several power signature began to approach at great speed directly towards Arcadius. Most likely drawn to the small volcano that it created before. The machine enhanced it’s vision so that it could see a visual of the incoming targets. Three of them, each of them humanoid in a way but clearly not so. The three had different tones of skin and hair that wouldn’t be normally possible in a human. Irregularities also persisted in their bio-signs that didn’t match up to anything within Arcadius’s database bar one thing. The closest thing it could find on them was the old man who had brought Arcadius here and even then they were extremely foreign to each other. Perhaps they were an extremely distant racial ancestor. For all intent and purposes however they were organic begins not known to the machine. Now within speaking range, the three stopped in their tracks and stood still in the air. Each of them had a smile on them as if they had encountered something entertaining. “Well now, what’s going on here? We saw a large thing of fire launching into the sky and the only one around here that could had done such a thing is you. What’s a tin can such as yourself doing making such a ruckus?” Arcadius remained silent. It didn’t know these people, nor did they seem to have anything on them that would identity themselves as an ally. The machine didn’t care one bit about these organics that had presented themselves to it like lambs to the slaughter. The only reason Arcadius continued to not engage them was that there wasn’t enough information about them. “What’s wrong robot? You’re not the speaking type? We asked you a question.” “Are you part of the time breakers?” “...what kind of question is that, of course we are.” Those words were all that Arcadius needed. They were not an immediate threat. “Then you should be appreciative that I will not have to terminate your existence as of this moment.” The machine turned away from the trio without any consideration for them. It slowly moved away from them as the demons spoke up about the words Arcadius just said. “Hey. You don’t go insulting us like that and start running away.” The demon in the center of the trio had a rather cross look about it as Arcadius continued to move away from the three. “I said come back here!” The demon was now furious as it was ignored. It created a ball of Ki and fired it at the machine’s back. It struck and damaged it somewhat as the machine stopped moving. A small dent appeared from the smoke that was made by the attack. Arcadius analyzed it as it preformed it’s self-improvement protocol, the process that had upgraded it’s durability has itself gone under a small refactor. It was now a separate program that operated at a faster rate than before. The back had reformed at this point as Arcadius turned around. It’s cold stare betrayed no emotion to the one that had just attacked it. “Your desire for conflict is equally admirable and suicidal, organic.” A burst of light was emitted from Arcadius’s eyes as it sped forward with lethal intent. These organics had the will to attack it, therefore their existence needed to end in order to maintain the existence of itself. The machine raised it’s left hand and gave a strong punch to the demon in the center. Its great force sent the being downwards towards the lava ridden surface. It sadly recovered before it found itself in the molten rock. “Damn machine. You’re scrap!” spoke one of the two demons besides it as both of them charged up energy and fired them in large beams in front of the machine. Despite their efforts they weren't nowhere near enough to destroy Arcadius as the attack only cause a multitude of dents. They repaired themselves quickly as Arcadius raised it’s arms and fired powerful blasts at each of the demons. Both of them were consumed by the blast with yells of pain. The remaining demon looked at the machine in fear and tried to escape at full speed. Arcadius didn’t want any survivors from this. A witness in any form is a liability for it and it’s relation to the time breakers. The chest section of Arcadius opened up and revealed it’s primary weapon. With both of it’s arms brought to it’s chest it produced a tremendous amount of power and fired a massive wave of energy that obliterated the escaping demon. With the hostile targets now eliminated Arcadius refocused it's efforts on how to improve itself. The chest plate closed back up and it processed on what to do next. It was then that it came to another conclusion to what it previous came up with. While it was repulsive, Arcadius could locate organics and initiate combat in the hopes of receiving damage. Such a course of action was risky, but it was of a drastically higher chance of success compared to it's previous course of action. After mathematical calculation between the two options the AI made it's choice. It moved away from the small volcano it made and searched for a opponent of suitable quality. WC: 984 TWC: 2,510 |
