"Hmm...?" Icarus rubbed his eyes as a bright light filtered through them, barely able to open them as he thought that he might have failed to sacrifice himself to defeat Demasu for a brief moment. It was a soft touch on his shoulder that brought him back to his senses, but it was an odd sensation to say the least. He felt so much...lighter! Opening his eyes fully, Icarus saw the green, smiling face of Dende once again, a confused, tired expression crossing his face. "Welcome back. You know, I didn't think you'd do this right after I healed you." "Huh? So you mean...oh." Sitting up, the blonde warrior looked at his own body, the clothes he was wearing the same as he'd worn to the battle with Infinite Zamasu, but completely patched up! "I don't get it. Why are you here? Didn't you just imply that I'm...?" "Oh, I'm sorry! Let me explain properly. In that battle on Earth, you did indeed die...but because your sacrifice was so heroic, I thought I'd bring you to the Otherworld to be trained by the finest warriors! O-of course, you'd have to get King Yemma to recognize your actions...that's why I'm here! I can tell him about the good deeds you've done on Earth!" "Ah. I get it, now. So I've still got my body, then?" Icarus stood up shakily, feeling like a ton of rocks after his death. As he got a good look at his surroundings, though, his golden eyes lit up! It was a land filled with golden clouds as far as the eye could see! In front of him, on the platform near the entrance, souls gathered and lined up. Each of them were smaller, white clouds with tiny tails that poked out, just like Seren's nimbus... "Ah! Seren...is Seren here?! She's not one of these things, is she?!" Icarus rushed forward and started grabbing at the spirits, checking all of them for any sign of Seren. It didn't even occur to him that she might've gotten the same treatment that he had until Dende lunged forward and bonked Icarus with his staff! "Icarus, please behave! These are the souls of those that have passed, you can't just bother them like this! If you want to see Seren, she's already at the check-in station." Dende pointed his staff over to the large building where all of the souls were heading into. "Check-in station...?" Icarus glanced over and saw the barest hint of her among the souls of the deceased, almost as if she were trying to justify some of them being granted a pass to heaven, "Ahaha...that's...just like her. Seren...!!" Without a moment's hesitation, Icarus leaped up and over the line, dashing right into the check-in station before diving right into her, wrapping his arms around her tight as they rolled around on the floor. "We're...together again..." Right then and there, all of the weight bearing down on Icarus' shoulders seemed to just melt away, as if now, they could truly rest in peace. Of course, they had no idea what kind of threats truly lay below...and that they would hardly have any reprieve even in this world. WC: 525 |

Serenity seemed right at home where she was, getting caught up doing something her family insisted was important. And that was, naturally, communicating with the spirits of the deceased. She'd gotten caught up so easily in the stories of the spirits, that she hadn't even had time to really register where she herself was. "M-Ma'am as much as I'd like to keep talking--" Alas, she was caught up in an old elderly spirits' rambling. And while normally, were she still alive herself, she would listen intently...this really wasn't the time. She was kinda holding up the line if anything! Heee....I-I really don't think God intended me to uhm...hold up the line here, but I can't exactly be rude! She thought, as a few more spirits seem to dogpile her, ones she didn't immediately recognize, but who certainly knew of her! It seemed some of the people she worked hard to save weren't so lucky. But they still admired her bravery as she looked at them, trying to hide the pain she felt behind a smile. "I-I don't know...what to say...I failed you guys big time but you still think of me as a hero?" She asked, humbled. "Lady you did a lot for us! No, not just us...!" One spirit circled her form before stopping at her face. "You helped in saving the world! If anything, all of us really owe you one!" It was strange to her, that so many of them were taking this so well! Her tail swayed back and forth as her drooping ears soon lifted and flicked, hearing a commotion from behind her, but not quite knowing who was causing it as she smiled. "I....I don't feel like I did much though!" "Nonsense! You did your best!" Another quipped. And soon, she was swarmed with them. Buried, really. They only seemed to leave when they themselves were required to check in, as Serenity waved them off with a smile on her face. "Did I really do anything though....? Death is...." Her eyes turned to the line that she was pushed out of, spirit after spirit lined up to be evaluated one by one. Judged only by their actions on the planet she'd risked it all, including her life, to save. To the brunette, it was a humbling experience like no other. But the fact that it took her life in the process.... Death is truly unlike how I imagined it.... her thoughts finished what her words could not. In fact, most humans fear it, right? But to me.... Her hand touched her chest tenderly, not feeling the beat of her heart right away. It's almost like home in a way. Maybe it's just the fact that I was surrounded by spirits...or maybe it's because I'm a Celestial Warrior, but somehow..... Her body tensed as she heard a familiar voice, turning in time to see Icarus suddenly leap to her, the two crashing a ways away from the line! Her eyes were stunned as the two rolled, until he was on top of her once more, mirroring the way in which she had died originally. Her hand cupped his face as she looked him over, her eyes glossy with tears before she hugged him tightly, quivering in his arms. "I-Icarus....!!" She cried out, sniffling as she pulled away, kissing his face and his lips as tears rolled down her cheeks. "I....I hoped you wouldn't have followed....but....I'm so happy to see you. I'm so sorry...!!" She whimpered, squeezing him close as a few spirits paused to watch the two. It seemed the tender reunion of the couple had attracted an audience, but they had more pressing matters to attend to. The matter of checking in, and seeing just where they would go. [615 Words] |

King Yamma finishes up several more spirits who needed sorting. Such a busy time here in Otherworld after Zamasu's invasion into our timeline had caused many to be killed by the rogue diety. "NEXT!" King Yamma says seeing a long haired Brunette with a blonde male who seemed to be confused about where they are. "Seren and .....Icarus I presume. I see in your records you two sacrificed yourself fighting that Zamasu character who invaded. My thank you for helping to stop that madness before it got any worse. Otherworld was affected by that him as well and it caused a lot of chaos." The phone rings reporting of recent attacks by the Army of Shula have taken advantage of the mayhem Zamasu had caused to assault the Check in station while it's defenses are weakened. "I don't know how to handle Shula right now this fiasco really made my job hell of a lot harder.. so many souls to sort! Get a hold of the Grand Kai Warriors at once!" King Yemma looks down at the two waiting for their judgment. "Sorry about that.. anyway you two are heroic souls who will be allowed to enter Heaven... please step over that way. " King Yemma says in haste to quickly get back on the phone about the current assault by the Army of King Shula who has been giving the Otherworld trouble for some time. King Yemma is in need of help to fight the oncoming shula army warriors who plan to strike down the Check in station as it is weakened from recent invasion by Infinite Zamasu. |

Icarus flinched as the booming voice of King Yemma echoed through the station, bringing his head up, "O-oh, sorry about that!" He stood up and took Seren's hand, pulling her up from the floor as they headed over to the giant desk, feeling small in the presence of this giant oni. As Yemma praised the two, Icarus stood stoic and placed his hands on his hips, keeping a sly eye on Seren, knowing that she'd be flustered from the praise. But in all honesty, he knew that they deserved it for what they'd done. It was only natural that they get some kind of praise. Despite that, he still bowed his head respectfully, "I appreciate the thanks. It was a tough battle--...?" Before he could finish, Icarus was interrupted by the sound of the massive phone on King Yemma's desk, its ringing causing the ground to vibrate slightly. As Yemma yelled at his subordinates to deal with a pressing situation, Icarus raised an eyebrow, giving a side glance at Seren before mouthing, "Who's Shula?" With Yemma now telling them to step over and enter heaven, Icarus was very tempted... "We've been fighting almost ever since we've met each other, y'know? Seren...I feel like our dates are always going to end up as some big battle..." Icarus cracked his knuckles, looking up at the giant oni, "And this time is no different. King Yemma, you sound like you need some help. How about two of Earth's best warriors help you out with this 'Shula' guy?" WC: 250 TWC: 775 |

As she was helped up by Icarus, Seren laughed it off. Still, being in the presence of someone so huge was quite humbling. Hearing the praise given to her and Icarus only made her fidget just as her fiance predicted, her face awash in pink as her ears twitched, her tail swishing back and forth. "T-thank you, Sir!" She bowed humbly, until the large phone started to ring on the desk, making her jump as she listened in. Apparently, it was as she feared. The demon realm was slowly, but surely, trying to merge with the earth. And it was even worse to hear that this Zamasu person had caused a ruckus even here, in Otherworld! "H-...he had that much power?!" She asked, her ears twitching at the news. But that wasn't all. Apparently, a trouble maker by the name of Shula had also been causing issues. Catching Icarus turn to her, she tried to recall if there was anything about this "Shula" found in her family records. Unfortunately, nothing was springing to mind as she shook her head with a shrug. Still, while heaven was it's own temptation.... Her hand gently rested on her fiance's forearm as she stepped forward, standing at his side as he invited King Yemma to take them both on as helpers. "It sounds like you're overworked sir, and frankly, we didn't really come here for a luxury vacation you know~" She grinned wide, before looking up at Icarus with a wide smile. "I'm not about to just sit tight either, we both want to help as much as possible, King Yemma Sir!" It seemed both fighters had a knack for somehow becoming involved in strange situations where ever they went, through little fault of their own. Such a curse was made up for by their willingness to help whenever they could, at least! [307 Words][Total:922 Words] |
