Blackwater started out a small backwoods forgotten part of Tennessee sixty miles south of the edge of the Blue Ridge mountains. At first glance there was nothing particularly interesting about this town. It was full of dry, boring people with the lowest ranking high school in the state. But looks are deceiving. Practically over-run with werewolves. A man named Austin took hold of the reigns at the ripe age of eighteen and the town momentarily flourished under his leadership. There was a wonderful tranquil grace period that lasted until his early twenties. But by then he'd been bowing to his debt to the closest pack just yonder the mountains and driving the town into bankruptcy. Combined with his drinking and gambling problems things began to spiral the drain. Billy Wren, Sabra Kross, and Vianne Fields arrived on a late summer night. Blackwater was their unknowing refuge. Two of them escapee's of Blue ridge they initially kept their noses out of pack life. A empty attempt to maintain a normal lifestyle taken away from all three of them during first change. It's not until Billy Wren comes across a rogue wolf, killing humans and members indiscriminately that their presence is noticed. They are framed for the murders and ambushed. It's Billy's convincing words that turns Austin from killing them. And even with the objection of Sabra she convinces the Blackwater pack to let them all live and pledge their fealty to Austin. Winter drag's on long and difficult for the three sisters -- and it takes Austin coming onto Billy for her to find out his secrets and allegiance with Blue Ridge -- scared -- she enlist Sabra and both of them turn on the egotistical Alpha with the help of a few familiar pack faces. They lead Blackwater into a revolution, and bucking like a bronco, all of their heads spin with the force. Billy is the one in the end to absorb the responsibility of alpha-ship. And taking Sabra as her second-in-command Blackwater changes from that point on. Due to Austins last minute struggle with gambling, and drug problems Billy naturally inherits his debt of over five hundred thousand dollars. With a traitor in their midst and BlueRidge discovering her and Sabra's whereabouts -- the patriarch pack milks her naivete to it's fullest. Billy pinches the last of their cash, and in a desperate plea to keep her new-found pack afloat (and her and her sisters alive) , travels to New York, Las Vegas, and Chicago to borrow money and solidifying a alliance. Due to sexist discrimination, and the obvious con's she is denied by all. But Chicago's pack leaders son plead's her case, and Chicago hesitantly pays off her debt to Blue Ridge with the promise of Blackwater being a shallow extension of the city pack mecca. Billy wastes no time in paying off her debt to Blue Ridge and branches out from their control. The alpha holding a personal grudge as well as being insulted by being outsmarted by two women begin's a long and personal chain of bullying Blackwater into humility. Human's are abducted and dropped barely breathing on the trio's doorsteps, their are frequent visits planned, and a last attempt to bump up interest. Nonetheless Blackwater prevails -- and in a final attempt at separation Billy, Sabra, and the third in command infiltrate Blue Ridge and kill the alpha. After a long power vacuum in the north it only takes one moment of weakness before Blueridge descends. After Billy is kidnapped by a trigger-happy werewolf hunter and left for dead -- found just barely in time. Vengeful, it's not long after that Blue ridge ambushes Blackwater in the dead of the night in a attempt to exploit Blackwaters weakness and usurp the regime. Blackwater loses a significant amount in the resulting fight for their lives. Billy, Sabra, and Vianne hardly survive the slaughter. But with the arrival of their outside forces and allies, the town fights back and Blackwater makes it out by the skin of their teeth. Overthrowing the ridge once and for all, Blackwater absorbs their territory and begins the expansion of their power from then on. The modern setting is five years after the Blue Ridge ambush. Billy's sticky relationship with the witch Giles has resulted in a flattering, but problematic spell that drops dead a significant amount of the werewolf population. Everything circling the drain, Blackwater get's all fingers pointed to them. Although none of the leads seem to have no idea what's going on. |
