He shrugged. "You don't have to. It's okay." It was clear he did want her to go, though, but he tried to hide that.

He was secretly scared of being up so high. Alone.

They reached the front of the line and were let in. They climbed in to the bottom seats.

The ride started and soon they were high above the laughing crowd.

Alex had the time of his life that day.

That night was not so pleasant. After a Chinese supper, he went to bed and tried to get some sleep. But once he fell unconcious, he could only hear the screaming of a terrified woman, and then he could see her face. Her pointed chin and nose, pale skin, jet black hair and bright red lips. It was the same woman from the news. He knew this immediently.

The next morning, he awoke confused and creeped out by that dream. He knew something was wrong.

Fiona was stood in the kitchen preparing pancakes. She was refusing to put the TV. In case She was trying to carry on the charade.

Alex walked into the kitchen still wearing his pajamas. His hair was a mess and stood up on his head. He rubbed his eyes. "Hi, Fiona." He yawned.
