That day, Jane had actually bonded with the man in the elevator. They exchanged names--he was Jack Napier, she was Jane Powers. From the moment she had first saw him in the China Buffet, he interested her. There was something about him. She'd wanted so bad to get to know him, knowing he would be easy to be friends with. Before she even knew his name, he had randomly and pointlessly shown up in her dreams, if only to be a background character.

And that day in the elevator, her guess had been proved right. He was deep and thoughtful, and whenever she talked to him he listened carefully, as if she was giving him instructions on how to live immortal. He actually cared to hear what she had to say. She told him about how she had a son and she had to work a lot to support him. That he was a good kid, too.

When Jack asked where Alex was at that moment, and what he would think when he found out his mom had been trapped in an elevator with a total stranger, she found herself bursting into tears, breaking into peices and showing emotions that she had felt for days. He listened to her, not interupting, as she talked about how she felt. How scared she was. She hadn't spoken so many words in days. She felt comfortable around Jack.

He also had a good sense of humor and actually made her laugh a few times. Laugh, which was something she also hadn't done in days. He could turn a simple thing into an object of humor. She found out he was putting that funnyness to good use--he was a comedian. Yet no one seemed to like him or his style in comedy. She thought he was funny, though.

And when they were finally freed from the elevator a few hours later, they went walking in the park to talk. She found herself opening up to this total stranger more than she had to anyone in her whole life. She felt completely safe and comfortable with him.

The next morning, Alex woke early from his sleep, having nightmares throughout the night. It was still dark outside.

Fiona was up and slightly Anxious. She felt guilty for needing to use Alex like she was going to. And nervous for the police officer coming.

He dressed in his every day clothes, brushed his teeth absentmindedly, and went to the living room to sit. His hair stood up all over his head and he looked sleepy in his eyes.

The doorbell rang.

Gordon walked in and looked around.

Alex stared at him. The officer met his gaze and smiled.

"Who are you?" Alex asked. "Aren't you on TV?"

"I'm commissioner Gordon. You have probably seen me on the news. Lots of crimes take place in this city."

Alex had no clue what a commissioner was.

Gordon stepped closer to him. "So, I've heard from a, uh, source that you can help with the investigation of Angelica Volkova."

"Who?"

Gordon glanced at Fiona, raising an eyebrow.

"It was about that lady again. I saw a man this time, but I didn't see his face. He had the woman tied up and he had a camera. She said your name."

"I'll be right back." Fiona said walking to her bedroom. She couldn't let Alex see, how much thinking of what Angelica was going through was hurting her.

"Why don't you sit down?" Gordon gave him a warm smile, so he did so. "What's your name?"

"Alex."

"How long have you dreamed about Angelica?"

He shrugged. "A couple of days."

"Before you learned about her being taken away?"

"No, after I saw it on the news."

"Saw what?"

"Her being tied up. And a guy talking behind the camera."

"So you first dreamed about her after you saw that on the news?"

Alex nodded.

"Do you think that maybe you're dreaming about it because you saw it, and you're sad about her being tied up?"

"What?"

"Maybe it's just nightmares."

"No!" he snapped, sick of everyone telling him this. He KNEW these dreams were real. "It's too real! The dreams are too real!"

"Alright, alright, I believe you," Gordon said, trying to calm him down.

"Did you see her captor's face?"

"I did...but it was...blurry, like it wasn't there. I could see the lady's face but not his."
