Fiona stood and handed her a towel.
"Angelica, Talk to me, please." Fiona said sensitively.

Angelica weakly wrung out the ends of her hair and wrapped herself in the towel. She walked to her room in a daze and sat on the bed.

Fiona followed and sat beside her. This time she didn't say anything. She'd talk when she was ready.

It took thirty more seconds for Angelica to find her voice.

"It was several years ago," she said, starting off suddenly, slowly, quietly. "Love was the last thing I expected to feel...wanted that so much. I needed it. I starved." She did not mean starving for food. "It was a new guy every night. I didn't care. I was looking for someone I would never find, and I knew I was hopeless. They grabbed my attention briefly, and took my mind off of companionship long enough for it to be bearable. In this time, I met Shaun Gorbachov."

Fiona simply nodded. The mention of the man's name was enough for Fiona's fists the clench at the thought. She'd only met him briefly when she first arrived. And she knew something wasn't right. She'd killed him, and as far has she was aware, Angelica didn't know it was her who'd killed him.

Angelica did know, but she wasn't thinking about it at the moment.

"He was just another guy. Seemingly. But he...had a sick, dark power inside of him. He didn't care to hurt me, yet I couldn't get away. I couldn't. I could't." The last 'couldn't' merely a whisper.

She remembered the way he was around her. She had the strongest-will compared to everyone else around her, but when she was around him she was reduced to a...nothing. Dirt.

And the way he was around the other members--they knew something was wrong, she knew they could feel it too. But they said nothing. Angelica always suspected Sam had found something out and was 'made' to keep quiet. Shaun could manipulate other people simply by looking them in the eye. And unless that someone knew the signs, they wouldn't even realize they were being controlled.

Fiona looked at her.
"But he can't hurt you any more. I made sure of that, I made sure he couldn't ever hurt any one ever again." Fiona said.

Angelica closed her eyes, shaking her head. "But he can. Even in death, he still manipulates me." She touched her stomach lightly. This gesture was barely noticeable as something odd. She clenched that hand into a fist.

"How can he? He can't hurt you anymore, or control you." Fiona said not understanding.

Angelica didn't want to say it, but there was no avoiding or denying it.

"I'm pregnant Fiona. A month, give or take a few weeks." She looked at Fiona now for the first time since she had come to see if Angelica was alright.

Fiona's face didn't change. Nothing about her changed.
"I'll support you in what ever you dicide, you know that. But don't see this has his manipulation. See him has a mear sperm doner. This baby has nothing to do with him except sharing a few genes. Don't let what he did to you sway your desision about this baby. Becuase both it's real parents are sat right here on this bed." Fiona replied.

Part of Angelica, the side where she was businesswoman and criminal leader of a worldwide organization, wanted to get rid of the baby in any way possible. She has not been counting on motherhood, there was still a long way to go for her when it came to power.

But there was another side of Angelica right now, taking shape. The side who now had a chance at what she never had before--a real family made of love. The baby may not have biologically been Fiona's, but she would be the Mommy. The baby didn't need a Daddy. It would be better of never knowing of Shaun's existence.

Fiona gave a small smile.
"Whatever happens. I'm here. Just don't rush the decision. You wouldn't want to regret it later." Fiona said. She grabbed angelica's hand and gave it a comforting squeeze.

Angelica took Fiona's hand in both of hers and nodded.

Angelica stood and went with Fiona to the kitchens, having too much on her mind to notice much else.

* * *

The man's name was Daniel Jonas. Jane had saved his life so he could perhaps tell her something about Angelica she didn't know. She watched through interrogation transcripts and tapes, but didn't learn about Angelica. Instead, she learned about him.

Jonas had been a med-school student when he and his wife Chloe were spending a day out at the park a couple of years before. She was pregnant.

Suddenly there was an explosion nearby and the couple were slammed into the trees. When he came to, he was in a hospital. He had a dislocated shoulder, but with therapy that could be fixed. It was the other bit of news that devastated him--Chloe had lost her baby and she was in a deep coma.

It turns out, the explosion was from a boat explosion on the pond. Part of the pond was by the park. The leader of a large multi-national corporation had been in that boat and died in it. The V-Squad turned out to be the culprits. Specifically, Angelica Volkova.

The years passed and there seemed to be no hope for Chloe, who never woke. When medicine failed, he played her favorite songs, talked about their memories together, played tapes of their wedding. He even had family members come speak to her--maybe they could get her to wake up. Nothing. The doctors suggested taking her off life support, but Daniel never gave up hope.

But that one day he was out, coming back from work--he had quit med-school and started working in a restaurant as a dishwasher--what were the odds he would come across the V-Squad leader herself, for no apparent reason. He hid behind a trash dumpster watching as she made some deal with a crime boss. Once the other man left, Daniel jumped at her and took her captive. He was surprised at how easy it was. She was known for her strength and skills.

He took her to the only thing he had left from his marriage--a boat, which had been a wedding gift from his parents. It was small and not fancy, but it would do. He kept her there out in the docks, drugging her whenever he needed to leave. He would always come back, though. He recorded tapes of her, demanding ransom from the V-Squad.

His reasons were that if he didn't get the money, he would do the world a favor and kill the witch. If he did get the money, he would be able to have better medical options to revive Chloe. Either way, it was win-win for someone.

Jane knew the rest of the story.

Only an organization as selfish as the V-Squad, so evil and merciless, could change someone so much as they changed Jonas. Daniel had probably been a good man, average and on his way to a good life as a doctor with a wife and a kid, all with a nice home and a puppy. The American Dream. Yet he had turned into a murderer, a captor, someone who demanded ransom for another life.

He had turned into someone he couldn't recognize.

Yet could Jane blame him? Was that so different from where she was only weeks ago, convinced she had killed every member of the V-Squad for the good of humanity? Yes, if the killings were real, the blood would have been on her hands. But wasn't it worth it, having murders over her head, if it meant less people would die in the end? Would she trade four lives for four-thousand?

Yes, she would.

And what would she have done if Alex had somehow been harmed under Fiona's watched? What if he had been killed? Jane would have wanted justice for that. She couldn't imagine what Jonas had went through all those years, watching his loved one be in a comatose state, unable to feed herself or move, and most likely unaware of her surroundings or his presence.

Jane had never loved someone in that way, but she did love her son.

Yet, it seemed Jack Napier, her new friend, really did care for her and he seemed to be the guy of her dreams.

What could possibly go wrong with that?

The End
