"She's extremely cautious normally. The only reason I can see her going with a stranger, who must be dangerous if they want the famous Volkova, unarmed and unprotected...I can't see it unless she felt it was her last choice." He frowned.

Fiona sighed.
"I really don't know, there's a tonne of people she know who it could be and a whole lot more she doesn't" Fiona replied.

"At the moment, I think a computer is in order." Fiona said.

He rolled his chair towards the system and looked through the files. "Wow. There's a lot of information backed up."

"I've been looking through the files, there seems to be more there than was on paper." Fiona said looking over his shoulder.

"We don't use paper files anymore. The ones that are left are old and the least likely to still be valid. Everything you need will be on digital file." He typed as he spoke.

"Which is very helpful to the only person in the world who finds the toaster difficult to work." Fiona said.

"Right. Well, I'm here now, so no need to worry."

Fiona nodded.
"I'll leave you to it, I'm going to go get some fresh air." Fiona said.

Sam nodded. "Sure."

Fiona has she said left Sam to it. She dicided to get some fresh air on the roof. She felt like she hadn't seen the sky in days, and technically that was true. She was worried though. She was scared and worried, and they were too emotions she couldn't afford to show. She wished she could talk to someone about what she'd been going through but that involved showing weakness, and right now that wasn't an option.

The entire day before, Angelica had stayed in her room sobbing, feeling like a total pansy. It had to be the hormones. Surely it was?

So why did she feel so heartbroken? Ugh!

She only came out for an hour to go downstairs to eat dinner after Luthor had invited her. She didn't do so to be polite but to personally learn more about the man she was now working with.

She went to sleep that night.

The next day, Mercer returned to the house with a laptop computer and sat it on the desk in Angelica's room. She opened it to some classified files of LuthorCorp, enemies that needed to be dealt with. She scrolled down profiles of people. There was photos and information on them. Some of them looked scary, some of them looked neat and clean. There were mental patients, businessmen, regular people. Angelica didn't want to deal with any of them, but she would have to in two months time.

Fiona stared out into the city. She wondered where Angelica was at that moment, what was she doing? Was she even in the city, in the country? Was she scared and hidding somewhere or having the time of her life? She needed to find her, she couldn't bare to know she was out there and Fiona didn't know where.

Jane Powers fried eggs while keeping her eyes on the television. The local news as well as CNN, FOX, and MSNBC were all covering the arrest of Volkova, even thought it happened almost a week ago. They also discussed her being bailed out. Supposedly no one knew where she went or who had bailed her out.

Jane had a funny feeling about the entire thing. Angelica was never accidentally caught--she always let herself be caught. No one else thought so, but it was obvious.

But this time, it was as if she were set up. So who bailed her out? The entire thing was strange.

The only upside to this was that the news was no longer focused on the lack of appearances of the Dragon Bane. Lately she had been spending more time with Jack and Alex and neglecting going out and trying to save people. Quite frankly, she didn't want to anymore. She was sick of wasting her time trying to help people and getting made out to be the horrible villain. In fact, many people were convinced she was in league with Volkova and her squad! Did these citizens really deserve to be saved when they were too stupid to see their politicians were the ones who were in league, while she herself was the real hero?

She wasn't perfect, she wasn't full of herself, but she had always tried to do her best.

Now she wanted to focus on her son and her soon-to-be husband.

The sound of sharp sizzling brought her attention away from the TV. The eggs were turning black.

"Dammit!" she cursed, quickly turning off the burner and flipping the eggs. Completely crispy on the bottom. She sighed. Would she ever get the hang of this cooking thing?

She jumped when she heard the sound of someone entering the kitchen. Jack stood there, rubbing his eyes. He yawned, then smiled when he spotted the pan with the useless food. He walked to Jane and kissed her.

"Nothing wrong with a little crisp in our breakfast, right?" he chuckled.

Jane blushed and laughed. "I swear I'll get the hang of this soon."

Jack walked to the fridge, got out some eggs and started scrambling them. "You need to let me do this, you have a job to go to," he said. "I sit around here doing nothing. The least I can do is help out."

Jane shook her head, frowning. He hated himself for not having a constant job. But he did whatever he could, and tried to get a job each night. That wasn't so easy, though. He was a comedian, and Jane learned lately that comedians didn't get much at all, especially when they weren't well-known. He blamed himself. He was convinced he was a bum.

"You work hard. And you don't sit around and do 'nothing'. You write monologues and stuff like that. That is incredibly cool," Jane disagreed.

Alex came in right then, also tired. His hair stuck up in all directions. He sat down and Jack set a plate before him, smiling. "Tired, little man?"

Alex nodded and yawned.

Jane again turned away to look at the television, not truly looking at the images of Volkova, the jail, et cetera. Instead, yet another worry came to her mind.

Jack didn't know the real identity of the Dragon Bane. Even after a year of dating and getting close, Jack didn't know that Jane was the one with the powers to manipulate fire.

After Fiona had finally took in her fill of fresh air she felt a little better. Someone was home, it didn't mean she was less worried about the others or Angelica, but it helped to know she could do more now Sam was home.

She walked inside to the kitchen, she had to make a welcome back breakfast for Sam.

A new lonely day came for Angelica. There were body guards and maids everywhere, but she was still lonely in a crowd.

Despite her anger at feeling betrayed, she still wanted Fiona back, more than anything else. She wanted to go home, she didn't want to be here at all.

Angelica sat at the breakfast table alone, wondering why Luthor even bothered to act polite and give her a room in his home. She knew he was a sleaze, knew he was a liar, and she knew that he knew this. Still, he continued trying to make himself look good.

She heard the footsteps before she saw Mercer. The woman walked into the dining room, holding the laptop again. She was smiling now.

"Morning, Volkova," she said, actually cheerful.

Mercer sat the laptop on the table.

Angelica didn't move, she simply glanced at it. "I have already recognized their faces and memorized the information," she said, her voice emotionless.

"You have? Interesting, it seems you are more intelligent than we thought. Do you have photographic memory?"

Angelica didn't answer this. No one deserved to know about her.

She stood back up. "I don't want to speak to you."

Mercer sighed. "Have I done something to offend you?"

Angelica turned to look at her, an eyebrow raised.

"Have I been anything less than respectable? Have I not tolerated your irritability?"

"I don't have to speak to you. Or do I?" Angelica folded her arms. "Yes, you're keeping on a nice, polite charade here. But it's plainly a lie."

"We are glad to have your company. You're smart, intelligent, and you know how to deal with these...people as much as Mr. Luthor does."

"Then why does he not not deal with them himself? The Luthors have a reputation, certainly he cannot intimidate them himself?"

"Mr. Luthor would rather not. He only wants to help people."

Angelica laughed humorlessly. Help. Right.

"Get out of my face, and stay out of it," she snapped. She stormed away, leaving the room.

Fiona prepared a big breakfast of all things imaginable. Pancakes, bacon sandwiches, toast, bacon and eggs, waffles. You name it, it was there. She walked with the tray to find Sam.

Sam had left the conference room and was now in the big control room where every single file was. He was hungry, but he pushed that out of his mind, flipping through virtual files.

Fiona walked in and set the tray in front of him. She then went and sat on a chair on the table behind him.
"Found anything?" Fiona asked.
