"Fine, you'll tell me soon enough." She knew she would not get an answer. She stepped away from the door, horribly worried now. She contacted one of the security managers to again confirm that nothing and no one had been found in the hangar. She could not have guessed that night what really took place in the hangar. But the problem was remaining on her mind. |

Fiona did not go to bed that night. She came out of the bathroom only when she was sure Angelica was sleeping. She dressed and tied her hair up so she didn't have to dry it. Fiona left their room that night. Left the base that night. She spent the night on a high rooftop where no-one could get to her. She sat watching the water in the bay. Occasionally sobbing. She didn't sleep. Everytime her eyes shut she saw the same image burnt into her mind and would wake suddenly holding back a scream. Eventually she did return home. But it was already past 9AM when she walked through the doors to her bedroom. She began making a attempt to make herself look 'normal' Although she felt she never would feel turely normal again. |

Angelica almost always woke up before Fiona. That morning she'd gone to check on Scarlett, expecting Fiona to be with their daughter. And that was yet another confirmation that something was wrong. She let the nannies take care of her and went off to find Fiona, but she'd been distracted when there was apparently a disaster that needed taking care of pronto. Once she'd untangled herself from the work emergency, she went looking for Fiona. But she wasn't in the base. Maybe Fiona needed time to herself. Maybe she'd had an argument with one of the others. But none of them had seen her today or last night. It was already late by the time Angelica should've been getting to work herself, and that's when she realized she'd left her tab in her bedroom. She came in and stopped upon seeing Fiona. "There you are." She frowned. |

Fiona was sat at the dressing table. She glanced at Angelica through the mirror. She gave a smile. but it was a mask. A trick she'd had to use many times growing. She felt she has perfected it. Pretend everything is alright, let no-one know your hurting. To hurt was to be weak and weakness was not something Fiona was accustom to showing. "Good morning." She said giving another fake smile. |

She stared suspiciously, not replying, as she tried to sense whatever type of energy lay concealed under Fiona's pleasantries. Fiona may have perfected her skill, but a lifetime of manipulating people and reading the subtle emotions and signs behind a person's calm mask had prepared Angelica for understanding what is not outwardly conveyed, what is hidden. She had discovered the skeletons of many people's closets this way. It was like a game of chess, noticing the little things, seeing the opponent's next move before they even saw it--or even decided on it--so that she knew what moves to make to prevent the other person from winning. This was a skill necessary in business. She was a businesswoman with an empire, ruthless. It had never been necessary to take notice of the hidden secrets of someone she loved. Fiona and Angelica were both good at what they did. It was almost as if Fiona was fine. But Angelica could sense that something was wrong. That, paired with blond's strange behavior the previous night, kept Angelica on edge at that very moment. She was not fooled, even if someone else would tell her that she was seeing things. Angelica walked up to the dresser drawer and took out her tablet. She spoke casually. "You slept well?" |

"I went for a midnight stroll and fell asleep under the stars. So I'd say I slept fairly well. You?" She asked pleasently. It hurt her to Lie to Angelica, but the scar from her past made her feel Angelica would cast her out if she knew the truth. Just as her own father had all those years before. |

"And what of last night?" She looked squarely at Fiona now. |

Fiona glanced away as pretending as if something caught her eye. She secretly held her hands in fists to stop her from shaking as the fear resurfaced. Only when she'd regained her composure did she reply. "It was just a fault in the wiring apprently." She rolled her eyes, she still struggled with technology. "Everything was fine when I got there." |

"Is that so?" she commented conversationally, but she continued watching Fiona. |

Fiona nodded. "It is." She answered. Fiona then stood up and began walking towards the door. Ignoring the way Angelica was watching her. |

Angelica didn't know what else to say, and it was clear that this conversation was going nowhere. She had to restrain herself from grabbing Fiona and demanding to hear what was wrong. It was obvious that this was not about the mild argument last night, but it was related somehow. She could tell. "I was going to breakfast just now," she said before Fiona could reach the door. "Will you join me?" |

Fiona stopped. Hand on the door handle. She glanced back at Angelica. Deciding whether it was a genunine question or a demand. Fiona stopped herself from sighing and instead gave a nod. "Alright." She said. Clearly she felt it was a genuine question. |

Tablet in hand, Angelica walked up. She thought of touching her but decided against in case she really was angry at her. She nodded and led the way to the V-Squad dining room. |

Fiona sat down at the table. She wasn't hungry, she was mearly keeping up apperances. She decided she'd order whatever Angelica was having. She couldn't care less about eating. She sat in silence. Waiting for Angelica to speak first. Her face nutral, almost happy. |

Though she'd made a point to not stare, and to act like nothing was different, she still glanced every now and then at Fiona. She didn't like this, not at all. She'd been so happy the day before. Now everything felt wrong from Angelica's point of view. She rang the bell and laid a hand gently over Fiona's. The waitress came in. Angelica ordered an omelet. |

Fiona had to force herself to keep her hand still and stop herself from pulling away. She felt contaminated as if physical contact with anyone would somehow make them feel the same. Instead she gave a soft smile as she ordered. Trying to make the demons of her mind submissive. |

Angelica took a sip of the mixed fruit juice that the chefs had made. She tried to think of something to say. The waitress returned and set their plates in front of them. Only then did Angelica remove her hand from her fiancee's. |

Fiona smiled at Angelica and started to pick at her food. She also took only small sips of Tea. (Imported of course) She gave eye contact to Angelica at all the right times. But hidding it well didn't make the bad feelings go away. She was desprate to be outside in the open. Somewhere she didn't have to hide how she felt and somewhere no-one was watching as she did so. |

Perhaps she should've said, "Whatever bothers you, you are free to confide in me and I will listen." But this was Angelica, and she did not yet know what to do in such situations. She did not know how to handle other people's emotions. Her own were often set aside. She finished eating. |

Once Angelica had finished Fiona pushed her plate aside. Food barely touched and Tea half drunk. "That was lovely, thank you." Fiona said standing she moved to leave. |
