She pulled back and rested her hands on her shoulder. "Fiona. You are hurt." She spoke in almost a snarl. "Who did this to you?" |

Fiona's eyes brought fresh tears as the memory flared in her mind. "That creepy man. The one with the scars." She spoke in barely above a whisper. That's as loud as her voice would allow. |

She tried to remember. She thought back. She remembered a man with a jagged slash across his face. He had been speaking to Fiona that day the chemicals were delivered.... Angelica felt a wave of white hot fury. She would do unspeakable things to him when she got her hands on him. He would regret the day he was born. "Fiona, this is not your fault," she said again. "Do you understand?" |

Fiona blinked. It was almost as if she dare not believe Angelica's words. She stared at her through blurrly eyes. But nodded slowly. "I should have stopped him." She whispered. |

"No," she snapped. "This is not your fault. He took what was not his. He should not have started it. He will be sorry he did. Do not blame yourself." |

Fiona stared consentrating through the tear filled eyes. Angelica spoke with such conviction that she had no choice to believe. It was a small comfort to know Angelica was not going to cast her out. She rested her head on Angelica's shoulder. "Please stay with me." She said. She suddenly felt like she needed to be near Angelica. Like it was the only way to stay safe. |

"I will stay." She wrapped her arms around Fiona and hugged her again, her fists clenched behind her back. She pulled back and led her to the bed so they could sit down. |

Fiona sat down on the bed. She leaned against Angelica. The whole time she never stopped crying. "Promise me you won't tell anyone." |

Angelica held her against her with an arm around her shoulders. "I won't tell." |

Fiona curled up resting against Angelica. It was the first time in days she'd felt truely safe. She still remained crying but eventually her Tears calmed to a soft sob. "Thank you for not making me leave." Fiona mumbled eventually. |

"Of course I didn't," she said softly. "Why should I? The fault was his." |

Fiona couldn't respond to that. There was nothing she could say that hadn't been obvious all along. But for some reason she couldn't see it. It had been obvious that Angelica wouldn't reject her. But her past told her weakness caused loved ones to reject. And she was terrified history would repeat. |

Though Angelica was calm and silent, she seethed with hot anger on the inside. Relieving it would have to wait. "Have you eaten?" she asked Fiona. |

She gave her head a slow shake. "I'm not hungry." She replied quietly. She hadn't been able to face food properly since. She forced herself to eat only twice. And the few occasions she'd eaten in front of others she'd only gotten the food for show and abandoned most of it. |

Angelica was unsurprised. "You should rest. Can you sleep?" |

The next day, Angelica went to the supply company, asked for the man with the scars, and got no answer because the manager had no idea who she meant. She demanded to speak to the men who the scarred guy had been working with that day. Intimidated, they said they didn't know him. He had been a new employee. They never asked for a name. But the manager said they had not hired a man with a Glascow smile. He must have claimed to be a new arrival. Anyway, he was gone now. There were many people in Gotham. But surely no one else had a scar like that. She would find him, if she had to search out every gang, every crack house, every hovel, every den of filth in town. She would find him and she would make him pay. |

Over the next few weeks Fiona's mood did improve, but very slightly. Most of her days were spent hidding her pain and forcing herself to interact and act 'normal.' Most of the time she prefured to stick close to Angelica. The only time she felt safe. Most foods to her, were enough to turn her stomach, even from the smell. She kept having mood swings. One moment she'd be smiling, the next she'd want to break down and cry. Her labido also suffered. She wasn't intrested at all. She still flinched everytime anyone touched her unexpectly. Her nights offered little relief from the torment. She often found herself waking up fighting a invisible threat, most of the time accompanied with screaming or crying. Apparently, these were all natural ways to feel after such a event. (Or so the therapist Angelica hired said so) The only reason she attended at all was becuase her finacee made her go and often stayed with her. But Fiona was having a hard enough time accepting what happened let alone recieve help. She often clammed up, death staring. What she know anyway? Presently Fiona was sat in a minor briefing room (Often used for small business. Like 1 to 1 meetings) Scarlett was sat on a chair beside her. She was happily drawing. Fiona was reading through her diary. It was the latest therapy statergy. Giving her extra responcibility so she didn't have time to think negatively. So Far Angelica had given her minor meetings to hold. (Very boring when alone.) She'd finished one only 20 mintues before and Scarlett had sought her out and joined her. Fiona continued reading trying to work out what was next. Then she noticed it. The spot she placed on one day every month for a certain reason. It was on the page 3 days previously. She was late. It was like a tonne of bricks hitting her. "No." She whispered. Scarlett looked up at her blissfully ignorant. "You ok mummy?" She asked. Coming back to reality. Fiona nodded with a small smile. "I'm fine sweetheart." She lied. Scarlett nodded seemingly satisfied. Fiona needed to find out for sure ASAP. |

While trying to personally support Fiona as best as she knew how, Angelica was holding her own secret search to find the scarred man. She'd quiet promised a reward to the thug's around the city, for them to turn the man in if they came across him. Some of them had seen him in the time before and after the attack took place. But since then, he had seemingly disappeared. Angelica revealed nothing about the fury that burned within her. She never brought him up to Fiona again. Angelica walked into the room just then. She had lost her temper with every employee she'd come across today, and broke the arm of one of them. She did not have the patience to deal with work. She stood beside Fiona's chair. "Afternoon," she greeted coolly. She looked down at whatever Scarlett's drawing. |

Scarlett contiued to draw. Either she hadn't noticed Angelica or was ingoring her. Fiona wondered if Angelica could hear how loud her heart was beating. She hand't once considered the possibilty. She hoped more than anything her suspisions were wrong. Fiona looked up at her fiancee. "Good afternoon." She responded. |
