She sat up straight. "Is the baby store in the mall?"

"There is one I believe."

Sure enough, the driver was taking them in the direction of the mall.

It didn't take much longer to arrive at the mall. The driver pulled up outside the entrance. Fiona climbed out with Scarlett holding her hand and waited for Lauren.

Lauren stepped out with her purse over her shoulder. She looked down at Scarlett. "Think she'll be like us?" she grinned.

Fiona gave her head a shake.
"I'm trying, but no. I don't think she will. I think she'll be just like her mother." Fiona smiled.

Lauren sighed. "At least she has your influence. Maybe we'll still get our way." She grinned. "I'm sure all these shopping trips will convince my niece."

"Scarlett can do as she pleases. This one however, won't be so lucky if she is like her mother. I'm going to have one shop-a-holic child." She joked.

"Or he. We might finally get a guy on our side," she laughed as she strode up to the large building with large glass windows at the front, as well as the glass doors that led inside to the polished.

Suddenly, a sound could be heard not too far away, behind some other buildings. A crash, then startled voices of pedestrians. A ball of fire rose into the air above some of the lower rooftops, dissipating once its source was stopped. Then a familiar figure rose into the air, shooting off after something or someone.

"Gawd," Lauren groaned. "Not today." She put her hands on her hips irritably and impatiently. "Let's just go before she sees us."

Fiona gave a small frown. She was slightly worried but didn't tell Lauren that.
"Just take Scarlett. I'm going to make sure she's too busy to notice us." Fiona lied.

Lauren looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "But...are you sure?" she asked with a frown.

"I'm just making sure it's safe for my daughter to stay. She won't even see me. I promise."

Lauren nodded. "Okay." She took Scarlett's hand. "Ready to go shopping?" she asked her.

Scarlett smiled.
"Toy store?" She asked Lauren. Fiona bent and gave Scarlett and kiss.
"I'll be back before you know it." She said with a smile and then walked away in the direction of the commotion.

Agreeing, Lauren went inside with Scarlett.

* * *

It was clear that the Dragonbane had recognized the clown man somehow. Pedestrians caught the altercation on their phones and were already sending in the videos to news stations.

She took off after the clown man. She chased him down the street before he could get away. Fiona could see them just in time before they disappeared down an allyway.

Fiona watched them ensuring she kept her distance, she followed slowly down the alleyway.

They went down a few streets. Dragonbane hovered over the pavement, able to fly faster than she could run. She followed the man--who wore all purple--into an old abandoned factory, all of the windows in the front shattered. She followed the man through the door. There was one large room, and certain obstacles in the way for someone to hide behind if they needed to. There were some abandoned objects scattered along the floor. It was clear that homeless people had once lived here, but it had been a long time even now.

Dragonbane looked around. She knew he was hiding. She walked slowly, listening for footsteps or breathing, and being careful every time she stepped around something large enough to hide a grown man.

"Come out!" she called. "Let's get this over with."

She jumped when a high, cackling laugh emitted at the other side of the room. "Get what over with? No, we're just getting started!" said the man.

She summoned a fireball in her palm and let it light the way for her as she followed the voice.

It wasn't hard for her to keep hidden from Dragonbane. For one she wasn't looking nor expecting her to be there and two the location was like a rabbit warren and easy to hide. When she heard the man's voice she froze. It sounded so familiar. But it couldn't possibly be who she thought it was, could it? She put her hand over her mouth to stop herself calling out and warning Dragonbane about the danger she was in. After all she didn't know for sure who it was.

"Let me guess, you're one of Gotham's many pointless criminals. I can count on one hand the number of thugs in this city who actually have a goal. The rest of you prefer to run around in circles."

He stepped out. "You have it wrong. Life is all about chaos. Those 'thugs with goals' are running in circles. And you're chasing cars."

He wore white face paint, with black encircling his eyes. A red painted line stretched across his face and mouth--a grotesque clown's mile. The skin underneath looked ragged, scarred. His waved hair had been spray-painted green, but it was clearly brown underneath.

He wore a purple button-up dress shirt with deeper purple octagons traced on. Over that, he wore a green vest and tie. His pin-striped dress pants were a darker purple, as well as his shoes. His hands were bare, but one held a black-hilted unfolded knife.

Fiona's heart rate increased once she saw his face. Even with the make up, there was no mistaking who it was. A flashback of 'that night' had her backing away slightly until she came to her senses. She'd let Dragonbane attempt to finish what she started. But if things got bad, she would step in. She wouldn't let him hurt another person as he hurt her. No-one deserved that.
