He looked at her. "Hasn't anyone ever told you that nothing is that simple? One decision, the smallest move, can change the course of everything. The illusion is shattered, and you are free to see that nothing is orderly, nothing is simple. You can cross the same road your entire life, and believe your way to be safe, but be flattened on the way to a job promotion that would've took you to the top. One event. One occurrence. Not even the flick of a switch--no, that would take an intelligence that controls an orderly world. Really, all it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. Just one bad day. You had a bad day once. Am I right? I know I am. I can tell. You had a bad day and everything changed." It was difficult for Jane to make sense of any of this. She hadn't been sure he was going anywhere with it until that bit. A shiver went down her spine as she was sent back to that night she had last seen Jack Napier, the night everything changed. She hadn't felt the same sense. Alex was the only reason she was still alive of her own accord. She knew that nothing would ever be the same, feel the same, ever again. He turned to Jane. "One bad day. How many have you had?" He lifted the gun and shot. She fell back against the wall to support herself. She palmed her shoulder, where blood was blossoming and beginning to soak her clothing. She slid down to a sitting position. He laughed manically and disappeared into the hallway. |

Fiona looked to Jane and To the door The joker had run out of. She was torn between chasing him and staying to help Jane. In the end she crouched beside Jane. Taking off the coat she was wearing. Then a cardigan, she placed the cardigan against Jane's shoulder. "I'll call you an ambulance. And wait with you until I hear the sirens." |

She watched Fiona while she talked, then she shook her head. "You should get him before he gets away. I'll call. I'll be fine." She glanced towards the window. "Where's Alex?" |

"I told him to hide. And we'd find him when it was safe. I have a feeling he'll already know." |

She nodded, relieved in that sense. "Good." |

Fiona nodded and stood straight. Now stood straight and wearing only a blouse her baby bump was very pronounced although small. "Stay safe. That little boy needs his mummy." She said and turned to walk through the door. She would secretly return after this was over to ensure both Jane and Alex were safe. |

Jane didn't fail to notice the obvious. She frowned. "You too." |

Fiona walked out of the door and began running. She hoped she'd catch up with him. |

He ran down the street now. The few pedestrians turned and gawked at him as he fled. Or rather let himself be chased. That is, until they saw the gun in his hand. |

Fiona got to the street and jumped on a cloud. This tactic gave her not only a better vantage point but also should avoid the people. She saw the crowd parting a flew in that direction. |

He kept running onward. Then he disappeared into a building. |

Fiona landed and followed him inside. She treaded carefully and quietly in case he was hissing. This would give her a surprise attack advantage. |

It was dark inside. Not even windows adequately illuminated the interior. "Ready to play a hot game of hide and seek, weather witch?" his voice echoed from somewhere inside, the direction not apparent. |

Fiona paused in her tracks from the last comment but chose to ignore it. She illuminated the building making it as bright as daylight inside. "Personally I think hide and seek is the cowards way out. I find it funny that you are frightened of me. Not such a big man now are you?" |

"So many times, you've called me a coward and said that I'm afraid of you. Which one of us are you trying to convince? I have nothing to be afraid of. Can you say the same for yourself?" |

"I'm not the one hidding behind a mask, or room fixtures." Fiona said shrugging. |
