You need to change 3 buttons so it matches the Dynasty Warriors PS2 controller settings. R1 is to use the power ups on the battlefield and L1 is to block. You need to edit these settings in the DWBB folder on your harddrive and click on SMBBEnv.exe and then click the last tab. My config settings for Dynasty Warriors BB/PS2 settings:
