Charlemagne is indeed>Lancelot. I believe Lancelot was supposedly a knight of King Arthur, who was a Celtish King, a.k.a. a king of the people known as the Celts who lived in England prior to the takeover of the German Saxons or French/Viking Normans. Charlemagne was a French king who had ties with people from all over Europe, even Muslim nations (one of which sent him an elephant). Whereas King Arthur's sword is called Excalibur, Charlemagne wielded a famous blade named Joyeuse (both of these weapons are commonly featured in RPGs like Final Fantasy).

But neither of them are from the period and I don't think either would be good characters. I think that the Hundred Years' War was around the time of the Scottish William Wallace's attack on England. I could be way wrong however. If it was though, William Wallace would make for an interesting character. I think they should make the main nations be England and France with Burgundy being a thorn in the side of France and an ally of England and Scotland being a thorn in the side of England and being an ally of France (both Burgundian and Scottish characters could be playable/unlockable perhaps). If both the Black Prince and Joan of Arc were to make appearances then it would mean that the game would cover the full extent of the period or divide up the characters into "late" and "early" Hundred Years' War generals.

Edit-I stand corrected. William Wallace came before the Hundred Years' War slightly...
