I think it's along the lines of personalizing your character. Yeah I know, it sounds like a lame excuse but if the character you made doesn't speak, it means that you can imagine how he or she sounds like. Preferably in your own voice maybe. But that's the same strategy that GTA has been taking before Vice City. Or even a more renowned example, the recent additions to the Elder Scrolls series (Morrowind+Oblivion).

Hmmm... you know something I've played Morrowind and Oblivion for countless hours and never noticed/realized that my charecter does'nt speak :blink:

Oh well still great games just like Bladestorm.

Why mess with a proven formula.
