I bet everyone was hyped when Dynasty Warriors 6 was announced back in July.... OMG LU BU LOOKS SOOOOOO COOL! YOU CAN SWIM NOW?!?!?AWESOME!!!! these were some of the comments regarding the first scan of the game, and the hype remained high all the time...until the game came out. What? Pang De, Xing Cai, Jiang Wei, Meng Huo, Zhu Rong, Zuo Ci and Da Qiao removed?Only 19 stages?Just 17 characters have Musou Mode?Man, that sucks... Everyone has mixed opinion about this game, but is it the worst or the best Dynasty Warriors ever made? GRAPHIC As the first game made specifically for this system,(don't consider the PS2/XBOX 360 games) this one has obviously the best Dynasty Warriors graphic of all the games. Characters are very detailed and their animations during the cutscenes are fluid and convincing, and the movements of the peons and the characters seems realistic. Howewer, this game doesn't have the graphic capabilities and some backgrounds are poorly done, but overall it's quite enjoyable 7.4 out of 10 SOUND The sound is exactly what you expect from a Dynasty Warriors game: there are just a few "classic" remixes of the past songs(Lu Bu's theme for example) which leaves a good selection of new songs. My personal favourites are A GREAT GIANT(He Fei's New Castle) and WELCOME TO CHINA(Xu Chang's invasion battle), while some songs like ULTIMATE PRESSURE(Guan Du) are repetitive and uninspired. If you have always enjoyed Dynasty Warriors music, you'll enjoy this time too. 8.3 out of 10 LENGHT OF THE GAME There are quite a lot of things to do in this game: while there are limited Musou Modes and there aren't secret items to unlock, other things will keep you busy for quite some time. With the addition of the Mission System in this game, each battle has three missions for each army: complete these missions and you'll get experience, you'll also try to complete all the missiond you can, replaying a determinated stage in Free Mode to try and complete all the missions of the game(you also unlock characters when you complete a mission).Another thing that will keep you busy is maxing out your characters, and this time with the Skill Tree you will also have to choose different paths causing your character to grow up in many different ways. But if you don't like any of these things, then the game will finish pretty early for you. 7.8 out of 10 GAMEPLAY Gameplay is obviously the best part of this game: there is so much to Hack'n slash and also different ways to do it: many character are fun to use due to their new, original movesets: now each character will give you a different way to play and you will find the one you like the most: do you prefer crushing your enemies with your ball and chain as Dian Wei or do you prefer shooting arrows from far away from your enemies like Sun Shang Xiang/Yue Ying? It's really really fun now to play with all the tactical additions of this game: swimming, climbing, storming a base from a near hill gives you the impression of playing a Three Kingdoms version of Grand Theft Auto. Not everything is perfect though: when you swim, especially in large areas, it's not easy to find a spot where you can get back on the battlefield and if you don't know where to go it takes some minutes to figure out how to get out from the water. Also the inclusion is unforgivable and it's clearly a sign of KOEI being a little lazy: you changed everyone's weapon, so why not give them a different and unique moveset? Still, I think that it's the best gameplay to date in the Dynasty Warriors series 9.4 out of 10 In the end Dynasty Warriors 6 isn't the bad game you think it is, nor the great game you thought it was.If you are an avid fan of Dynasty Warriors it's a must have and this game will delives to you a fun and entertaining experience even if there aren't many things you wanted.Keep in mind that this is a new birth of the Dynasty Warriors series, and I would see it as the Dynasty Warriors 2 of the new generation. Hopefully KOEI will bring the cut out characters, new stages, different movets and many new interesting additions in Dynasty Warriors 7(or maybe even in XL) In the end, this game gets a 8.1 out of 10 from Sei You This is the first review I have ever done, so please forgive my grammar because English isn't my first language |
