For Katsuie's original 4th, Heaven & Earth, I don't think it is a good idea to wait until the sneak ambush on Yoshimoto succeeds first before racking up the 400 kills. I've tried doing this three times and I always ran out of people to kill! 390 or so is the best I could get before every enemy was completely wiped out other than Yoshimoto on the stage! However, by killing peons right from the start as I go along to complete the missions leading up to the escort mission, I manage to get about 460 kills in my first try using that method and get the 4th weapon as a result. It helps to keep the enemy defense captains alive so that they keep churning out enemy peons. The weapon is frustrating to get, though, because of the constant verbal diarrhea from Toshiie (SHUT UP ALREADY!) and Hideyoshi. Even with constant pausing, I got the sneak attack on Yoshimoto to succeed with about one minute or so to spare.
