Plus, I've noticed that killing Ranmaru before him prevents you from getting the weapon report. So in other words, I didn't kill Ranmaru, though still was able to get it. Btw you can also prevent the explosion by killing Hideyoshi, and still get the weapon. You might want to try and confirm this if you can.
