Well, I don't see how because I got the weapon without killing Ranmaru. After I killed Mitsuhide, I got the report.

Thats likely it then. But Ranmaru still isn't a requirement. Though I find it strange that the weapon aquisition does not state a time limit either.

Well, the hint does mention "defeat two famous enemy officers". It could also refer to Hideyoshi and Mitsuhide, but I don't know for sure since I've never left anyone alive.

Time limit is not always mentioned. I'd remember Kojiro's 5th also has a time limit even though it's not said in the hint.

Kojiro's one said ''quickly'' or something like that, if I remember right? So that basically is a time limit note.

So what may have been the case with me was that I was very close to the time limit, and that if I defeated Ranmaru first I would've had too short of time to slay Mitsuhide, causing Nobunaga to commend me without Nagamasa's own charge quote? I guess since Mitsuhide was a requirement and Ranmaru wasn't then.

Koei should be more clear towards this kind of thing.

But yeah, it should be noted that Ranmaru isn't a requirement. Since he is not a mission, though famous?
