Cavalry at Dawn

i was playing a while ago and noticed something. Cavalries, horses, they SUCK at siege. i knew they weren't bright when it came to attacking a facility/gate/tower, but every time they get to the gate at all they have almost NO morale once-so-ever, and because of that and the enemy usually has high enough morale to use skills, they're useless. There's got to be a meaning for me to get my ass whooped like that so much. so here's my thoughts. Cavalries/horse + rifles/muskets for field battles when your on the defending side bows + spears/pikes for castle sieges when defending, with a cavalry unit or two for when the enemy just pillages that's for defense. for offense.... whoa. ok wait a minute, i'll just try the even strategy, two pike units, 2 horse units, 2 bows, 2 muskets/1 musket & 1 cannon. that usually works, i was just using cavalry and muskets for everything, that's my recent problem. but what are the right times to use different units, and what unit, at what time? let me hear your opinions. |
