right behind her tho' are Cao Ren(left him for Rydain)

 You know how I like to prattle about my favorite tank...but I'd love to hear your thoughts on him as well.

tl;dr summary - I find Cao Ren quite admirable, history-wise and game-wise, and I always enjoy playing as him.

Historically, Cao Ren disciplined himself out of youthful rabble rousing to become an accomplished fighter and commander. He had much success in a variety of campaigns, including the famous defense of Fancheng, and a heroic moment where he ran deep into enemy hordes to rescue Niu Jin and an associate. Ren was known for raising morale at key moments. His losses were few, and they appear to me as well-fought contests between talented leaders. For instance, Ren retreated from Jiangling after a year of siege from the combined efforts of Wu's finest.

Koei characterizes Cao Ren as an unassuming guy who dislikes war but gives it all he's got because that's the only way the fighting will end. Cut scenes demonstrate his self-sacrifice and genuine care for the little guy. Ren laments the damage done to the land by a water attack when no one is around to hear him. He throws himself on the front lines and in front of arbalests to protect ordinary soldiers, who then praise him as their great general.

By and large, Koei's persona for Cao Ren meshes with his historical background. I'm not sure he would dislike war per se, but he would have a sense of perspective about it. Accomplished generals who have seen much bloodshed often consider war a necessary evil rather than something to be all gung-ho about. Given Ren's brave rescue of subordinates and noted ability to rally his men, there probably was a mutual respect between commander and soldiers.

I like his character designs as well. In DW4 and DW5, Ren's multi-layered armor makes him look well-protected yet agile. Cao Ren has one of the most interesting faces among the cast. His features are uniquely broad, placid, and mature. The nifty eye scars set him apart even further. There's a lot of facial feature similarity among the "youthful pretty/HAWT" male characters. Cao Ren looks much more realistic to me, and I do find him handsome. :P (His DW6 style is my least favorite - definitely more good than meh, but I quite dislike the black eyes.)

Gameplay-wise, I always got a kick out of football playing Mega Man. Cao Ren was a favorite in DW5. In WO, his varied smashy smashy bomb the crowd stomp Lu Bu to death fighting style combined with being on my general favorites list made him the BEST CHARACTER EVER!!11!eleventy DW6 turned him into a halberd guy, but that was cool with me. I liked the halberd best out of all the cloned move sets, with its straightforward style and excellent reach and coverage. I really liked Cao Ren's bolt projectiles and tanklike skill tree.

i far preferred her noble Empress like persona from DW3-4 than the elitist bitchy one from DW5-6.

Word. I always liked Zhen Ji. Historically, she was intelligent and kind, and I much prefer her in-game personae that reflect these traits.
