The huge mechas that are often pivotal to the plots in Gundam universe didn't appear in the first game but finally make their appearances here.
Appearing Mobile Armors:
MA-08 Big Zam
MRX-009 Psyco Gundam
MRX-010 Psyco Gundam Mk-II
NZ-000 Quin Mantha
NZ-333 Alpha Azieru
JDG-00X Devil Gundam

-Upon encountering a MA, a lock-on sign will appear next to the KO count, and the camera will automatically focus to the MA.
-MA Attacks can damage and/or destroy their ally (your enemy) units as well.
-There are some parts that are destructible. You know when you're hitting these parts if they flash red when hit.
-When the chance to pummel a MA is available, there will be pointers to the weak points.
-Destruction to a certain part can be seen both physically and mechanically. The latter ranges from inability to use weapon in that part to disrupted walking movement.
-Of course, due to the huge size and such moveset, please do not expect them to be playable. :P

Mission Mode
A new mode where there will be specific missions for individual characters.

When you first enter the mode, you will be in the Lobby with the following options.
Mission
Should be self explanatory.

Mobile Suit Lab
Here, you assemble parts for mobile suits that you get during missions. If you can assemble all parts of a MS, that MS will be available to play for you. MS stat upgrades are also done here.

There are 5 different parts needed to assemble a MS:
Body, Right Arm, Left Arm, Right Leg, and Left Leg
There are 4 ranks for each parts and even in the same rank, the stats given are random: thus making MS parts equivalent to weapons in DW/SW/WO.

Lounge
Details currently unknown, but probably you'll be able to check the relationship level with other characters here.

Terminal
You can open interactions with certain characters here. Depending on your choices, you will join different factions, thus making different missions available to play.

Save
Should be self explanatory.

Known mission types are:
Story Mission
Should be self explanatory. Some of the characters appearing are random though (maybe influenced by relationship level?)

Free Mission
As the name says, Free missions. There is also a tutorial stage here.

Collection Mission
In these missions, you can collect MS parts more easily. The missions here are designed that only certain types will appear in a mission, e.g. Zaku-types.

License Mission
Missions you need to play to get licenses for the unique, non-mass produced MS.

Friendship Mission
Missions where you can increase relationship level of ally characters. But be noted that characters you meet as enemies here will have their relationship levels reduced.

Extra Mission
Like the name says, extra missions. Secret & difficult requirements might need to be done to unlock these.

In this mode you can create your own relationship chart among the characters. By befriending different characters, you may have different allies and enemies in battle, and you will even get different mission branches depending on who you befriend.

Gameplay Updates
-Normal attack string (S) now goes up to 6-string compared to the prequel's 4-string, which also means 6 charge attacks.
-The beam rifle/vulcan shooting C1 can now be done consecutively up to three times. (TTT)
-You can now dash as long as you hold the dash button and you don't run out of thruster.
-There is a new attack named Smash Attack that is done by holding attack button for a set time then releasing it. Enemies that are hit by this attack will be staggered for a moment.
-There is also aerial charge attack now. If it hits you can dash attack to continue the combo as long as you don't run out of thruster.
-The SP (Musou) attack has been changed a bit from the prequel. Each SP levels have their own attacks now and do not continue from the previous level.
-You can now launch SP attack on mid-air as well. There is only one kind for aerial SP attack but the number of attacks increase with higher SP level.
-Combination SP is now possible with characters you have good relationship with. The better the relationship level, the stronger the SP damage will be.

Status Bar Explanations
Posted Image
(Otsu to Crimsondramon for rendering this)
Blue bar: Armor (HP) gauge
Green bar: SP (Musou) gauge
Green orb: SP level; There will be 3 of them like in prequel.
Circular green bar: Booster gauge
3 above bars: Stat up indicator (Attack, Defense, Speed)

Miscellaneous Informations
-It is said that the total contents of this game will be 3 times more than the prequel.
-They've tried their best to fix problems and improve things in the prequel, such as graphics and such.
-It is said that in Normal difficulty, even a Zaku grunt will actively move.
-Even when a mobile armor appears, there is no slowdown.
-It seems like Morale bar is in the game. It didn't exist in the prequel.
-Up to 5 units may be guarding a field now.
-There will be online features. For the JP version they plan to add downloadable contents, but for the EU/US version they will have enhanced versus mode.
-There will be a Movie Gallery here, which wasn't present in the first game.
-Famitsu Review Score - PS3&360: 10-9-9-8; PS2: 9-8-9-7
