Alright, my favourite Musou Mode has to by Yukimura's in SW1. It started out in Kawanikajima (sp?), a great battle in that game. You are in the detached unit sent to flank Kenshin's main camp, then Kenshin is not there and does his epic charge the main camp. You have to fight your way out the camp and into the center, as to save your allies who are always overrun by this point, and its just great fun. This then follows onto Mikatagahara. I prefer it when Shingen dies here, like it must do at first, as it is a lot more epic, has a cutscene involving the dying Shingen and Yukimura as well. The battle was great, stopping Oyomada being lured was an interesting mission, kill the guy luring him. Fairly easy, but interesting nonetheless. Then just the whole atmosphere of the battle in that game was great. Even before he was playable, Tadakatsu was still a mighty foe then, and held the rear of there forces as they withdrew. I like Shingen's dialogue of "Ieyasu has two things greater than he diserves. That Unique Helmet, and that Officer Tadakatsu." or whatever it is he says there. Then with Shingen dead it follows on to Nagashino, or if he lives, it also goes to an alternate Nagashino. The one when he dies is good, the Takeda Cavalry get slaughtered and you end up having to save Katsuyori from an army which charges at him. Shingen's version get rain falling, causing the muskets to be useless, before the charge is ordered, and its just madness in that one. From then it goes as Shingen's story does, but I prefer the other route, Yukimura's own story. After Nagashino it went to Ueda, one of my favourite levels in all of SW. You have to manually release the flood gate in that level, by detonating some explosives placed at it, which I believe was a nice touch. Then there is the stopping people at all enterances to thw castle entering, Nobuyuki at the north, and theres the saving Masayuki from Hanzo's assassination attempt. The battle as a whole was just great, with great music to boot. Though, there is absolutly no level in my mind that compare with the epicness that was Siege of Osaka Summer from SW1. Especially as Yukimura, as with anyone else (even Kunoichi) it was not quite as epic. The head officers don't trust you, you have to fight at the Sanada-maru, saving it from the enemy assasults. You have to get round to convince Hideyori to strike out, but it is for naught anyway. You must defend the keep from the cannons outside, and defend the sides from Masamune and a bunch of Generics. The enemy completly outnumber you, out morale you, and you are just put into the battle so well. There is also the music. I love the Osaka Castle music, but furthermore, I love Fate/Destiny, which comes on as Yukimura starts his final charge. I think its a great battle, so much atmoshpere. When you charge, it isn't a simple charge either. You get locked within an area until you can kill all the enemies before you can approach the main camp, at which point Ieyasu flee's, leaving Hanzo as the leader. This then leads on to the BEST ending I have seen in a Koei game. Then the fact during his musou mode his character develops a great deal, and his interactions with Shingen, Kunoichi, Hanzo and Ieyasu are all great. Ieyasu not so much, but it is there. As for my least favourite, it would likely be Oichi SW2. I like the moveset, but the campaign isn't great. I amn't much a fan of the romance thing between her and Nagamasa is probably the main reason why. and then it also has the annoying Pesant Rescue Level or whatever it is called I believe. |
