New stages could really buff up Yoshimoto, Shingen, Yoshihiro, Kenshin, and Motochika's story modes. Let's say they went with six stages like in DW6, along with split paths like SW1.
Yoshimoto Stage 1: Battle of Mimasetoge, Imagawa/Takeda Vs. Hojo Stage 2: Battle of Azukizaka, Imagawa Vs. Oda/Saito Stage 3: Battle of Okehazama, Imagawa Vs. Oda (SPLIT PATH STAGE) ---Prevented Matsudaira Motoyasu's Defection Stage 4: Battle for the Capital, Imagawa/Ashikaga Vs. Miyoshi/Rokkaku/Tsutsui/Asakura/Azai Stage 5: Battle of Yamazaki, Imagawa Vs. Mouri Stage 6: Showdown at Anegawa, Imagawa/Takeda Vs. Oda/Saito/Uesugi/Asakura/Azai ---Failed to Prevent Motoyasu's Defection Stage 4: Battle of Mikatagahara, Imagawa Vs. Takeda Stage 5: Siege of Kakegawa Castle, Imagawa Vs. Tokugawa Stage 6: Defense of Odawara Castle, Imagawa/Hojo Vs. Takeda/Uesugi
In effect, once Okehazama rolls around, you have a chance to convince Ieyasu to not defect to Nobunaga's side. If you succeed, Yoshimoto defeats the Oda and moves on to fight the Miyoshi and other clans of Central Japan for the capital, saving the Shogun in the process. After settling in the capital as the Shogunate's protector, the Mouri move east to contest that position, and the two sides clash at Yamazaki. After routing the Mouri, Yoshimoto gets word that the Mouri's attack was afeint, and a Saito-led coalition had used the opportunity to take much of the Imagawa's lands to the east. Yoshimoto hurries east and battles the vastly greater coalition at Anegawa, but is rescued by the Takeda attacking the coalition from behind. Upon defeating them, Yoshimoto is named as the new Shogun.
If you fail to stop Ieyasu's defection, Yoshimoto is defeated at Okehazama, but barely survives and escapes back to Suruga. Here, his struggle is steep, as Shingen cuts off their alliance to take advantage of Yoshimoto's weakness. Yoshimoto attempts to fight off Shingen at Mikatagahara, and is supported by Hojo Ujiyasu and the sudden defection of his son-in-law Takeda Yoshinobu. However, he is driven back to Kakegawa Castle where the newly named Tokugawa Ieyasu, in an agreement with Shingen, sieges the castle. After surviving that ordeal, Yoshimoto, Ujizane and Yoshinobu are allowed safe passage to the Hojo lands, and they help the Hojo defend Odawara Castle from a joint Takeda and Uesugi assault. Afterwards, Yoshimoto lives his life quietly as he no longer has any power, and instead focuses on family and, of course, kemari.
Shingen Stage 1: Siege of Ueda Castle, Takeda Vs. Shinano Coalition Stage 2: Battle of Kawanakajima, Takeda Vs. Uesugi Stage 3: Siege of Odawara Castle, Takeda Vs. Hojo Stage 4: Battle of Mimasetoge, Takeda Vs. Hojo Stage 5: Battle of Mikatagahara, Takeda Vs. Tokugawa (SPLIT PATH STAGE) ---Did Not Allow a Single Tokugawa Officer to Escape Stage 6: Battle of Komaki-Nagakute, Takeda Vs. Oda ---Allowed Tokugawa Officers to Escape Stage 6: Battle of Nagashino, Takeda Vs. Oda
At Mikatagahara, if you do not allow Ieyasu, Tadakatsu, or any other Tokugawa officer to escape to Hamamatsu Castle, Shingen will accept Ieyasu's surrender and continue his march west immediately, and strike at the Oda at Komaki-Nagakute. Upon winning here, the path to the capital is clear and Shingen will lay claim to the entire land.
If you allow an officer to escape, Shingen will be wounded by Hanzo, and retreat back to Kai. He later attempts to march again, but is faced by the Oda/Tokugawa at Nagashino. Here, the bumbling of Katsuyori, whom Shingen allowed to lead the main army, costs the lives of many Takeda soldiers, and Shingen must do what he can to pick up the pieces and keep his surviving men alive. He then passes away after the battle, lamenting the future of the Takeda.
Yoshihiro Stage 1: Battle of Mimigawa, Shimazu Vs. Otomo Stage 2: Battle of Okitanawate, Shimazu Vs. Ryuzoji Stage 3: Battle of Hetsugigawa, Shimazu Vs. Toyotomi Stage 4: Siege of Odawara, Toyotomi Vs. Hojo/Date Stage 5: Battle of Sekigahara, Western Army Vs. Eastern Army (SPLIT PATH STAGE) ---Kobayakawa Does not Defect Stage 6: Mayhem in Kyushu, Shimazu Vs. Tachibana Vs. Kato Vs. Kobayakawa ---Kobayakawa Defects Stage 6: The Escape to Kyushu, Western Army Remnants Vs. Eastern Army/Date
At Sekigahara, if you prevent Kobayakawa from defecting, he joins the Western Army in defeating Ieyasu, whom retreats to Edo. While the main Western Army contingent pursues him, Yoshihiro and the Shimazu return to Kyushu with the excuse of going to deal with the Eastern Army forces there. Instead, Yoshihiro takes advantage of the situation to finish his conquest, and attacks both Kato Kiyomasa and the Eastern forces, and the various Western Army troops there as well. Ginchiyo and Muneshige arrive suddenly, realizing what Yoshihiro was doing, and attack both him and the Eastern army as well. Even later Kobayakawa and Konishi Yukinaga are sent by Mitsunari to deal with the chaos. Once Yoshihiro defeats them all, Kyushu is firmly in his grasp.
If Kobayakawa does defect at Sekigahara, Yoshihiro, along with Toyohisa, Ukita Hideie, Konishi Yukinaga, and other survivors must escape from Sekigahara. Upon reaching Osaka Bay(Kizugawaguchi) they find a massive army waiting for them, and Yoshihiro must break through to survive.
Battle of Azukizaka - Imagawa Yoshimoto Vs. Oda Nobuhide Forces: -Imagawa- Imagawa Yoshimoto(unique) Taigen Sessai(hopefully a unique NPC, but at least a 5-star generic) Asahina Yasutomo(hopefully unique, but at least a 4-star) Asahina Yasuyoshi(4-star) Asahina Nobuoki(3-star) Okabe Motonobu(3-star) Matsui Munenobu(3-star) Ii Naomori(3-star) Udono Nagamochi(3-star) Iio Noritsura(3-star) Miura Yoshinari(3-star) Abe Motozane(3-star) Matsudaira Hirotada(3-star) Sakai Tadatsugu(4-star) Toda Yasumitsu(3-star)

Battle starts with Matsudaira Hirotada agreeing to send a carriage with his son(the future Ieyasu) in it as a hostage to Yoshimoto in return for Yoshimoto's help in fending off the Oda. The first mission for the Oda side is to help Toda Yasumitsu capture the carriage. Once captured, Nobuhide will attempt to force Hirotada into surrendering, but it fails. The Imagawa vanguard arrives, and the majority of the Oda army moves to attack. After the vanguard is defeated, Nobuhide makes a comment about his men being the Seven Spears of Azukizaka, and the Oda army begin to move towards Okazaki Castle. At this point Taigen Sessai will ambush the Oda with the main Imagawa force, and Yoshimoto will also arrive. The Oda's next mission is to rescue the majority of the Seven Spears of Azukizaka, and then Nobuhide will send for help from Saito Dosan. The messenger must be protected from another Imagawa ambush. If it succeeds in leaving, Dosan, Nouhime and Yoshitatsu will arrive to assist the Oda, and this will be the first meeting of Nobunaga and Nouhime.
The Oda must defeat Yoshimoto or take Okazaki Castle, and the Imagawa must defeat both Oda Nobuhide and Saito Dosan if he arrives.
