It also seems that the game progressed far so I don't think poor old Dong Zhuo will live forever, whenever that happens, employ his officers. Try not to lose alotta time and resources on Sun Jian so that you can pincer Dong Zhou quickly. I'm sure Yuan Shao is more than capable of holding him back. If you tried to attack Dong Zhou directly first, which maybe a good strategy too, try using Sun Jian to your advantage but try not to give him many cities. Either ways, saving a back up seems good, whenever you get into a tough position, repair your relations with the said force by gifts.
