The Warrior games have had a long time to grow a fanbase who will buy it even when they have doubts. If koei makes a game similar to DW or if it is a Dynasty something (like Dynasty Tactics) then it can hope to bring in some of the DW fanbase. Bladestorm was clearly not a DW clone so if it was going to get any people based on fandom it would be those that love all/most of koei games or those that felt it was Kessen's successor. So a very small base of almost guaranteed whereas DW gets a considerable amount. As a new game, it needed to get good advertising, koei didn't do that so it would need good reviews and worth of mouth, it got neither. It was a nice idea that was flawed in it's execution, a decent enough game but with PS3 game prices, not one many would gamble on. None the less it sold well enough it would seem, any successor will get a fair shot by reviewers, it needs to fix on some of the basics and improve a lot of things. None the less the idea is one that could make a very popular series in the future |
