If we want to just go labelling any old machine a Gundam, I have one you might be interested that uses the high-energy environment of hyperspace to justify an armor that can't be torn apart by any energy in normal space due to its being made of a material which only reaches molten form at speeds in excess of the speed of light. But I'm not interested in calling any ridiculous hunk of mecha a Gundam. I stick to the old-school methods.
