Whenever I write a fanfic I often set the theme to a particular song that might fit the main character. Currently my fic involves Kanetsugu, and the song is really familiar, hippy and fruity 8D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FI2tceUD3os Granted, the modern references don't fit but I think the spirit and general message of the whole thing fits him well.
