About what he wanted was what made his story interesting. He wanted to die, it's not like everyday you get a villain who actually wants to die and not rule to world.

In truth, it is very vague in the game, but there is some spiritual/religious aspect on what made me like him a lot. His mannerisms and the words he speaks during battles had me thinking about his actions and what he really intended for humanity.

You see, in my mind, Orochi can be considered a Buddhist. Why? Well, his aim for himself is peace or inner peace, but also peace for humanity. What you give is what you get; the law of karma. Since Orochi gives death, he had it coming...

The goal in most Buddhist schools is Nirvana, which is the salvation from suffering. Remember that he was to suffer eternal punishment because of the crimes he's done? But he knew he couldn't change them, so the only way to redeem himself was to be killed by human beings.

As all of you know, in the Buddhist tradition, a Buddhist is forbidden to kill, which made me thought that might be the reason why he always sat at his castle waiting for a challenge. He doesn't want to fight unworthy people until they are worthy enough and work for the experience and earn the challenge. I know he condescends others, but a little negative motivation doesn't hurt. Which brings me to say, maybe even in his story, he never fought any of his own battles. Sure some say that's cowardice, but that's not the point. It was his army that did the fighting and he didn't care if his army messes up their own plans, he was actually, in my opinion, letting them do what they want, letting them have their freedom to act on their own free will... without judgment or discrimination on how he would win the battle -- I think that's kinda like compassion.

The ending theme 'Salvation of Orochi' is a dead giveaway to me that he earned his deserved Nirvana.

If anyone has a say in this or argument, I'm ready to support this thought. :)
