I believe KOEI is actually working towards realism with the blood thing, and armor and younger guys with beards. I myself hope there aren't any girls or feminine guys in this game, would like it much more though. I didn't like Zhang He very much and I don't think the real Zhang He would like to be portrayed like that . Maybe girls can be seen in cutscenes or something though.
