There's a lot of silly opinions in this thread.

Tadakatsu is the Lu Bu of Samurai Warriors. Choosing the 'Lu Bu' of Samurai Warriors isn't merely choosing the character who has the EXACT SAME PERSONALITY. It's obvious -- Lu Bu is portrayed as a selfish trailer, while Tadakatsu is portrayed as loyal and selfless. Therefore, they are POLAR OPPOSITES. If Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors are viewed as rival series, then Tadakatsu being Lu Bu's mirror makes more sense, instead of having a re-skinned Lu Bu?

Where is the Tadakatsu = Zhang Fei comparison coming from? Some of you are getting carried away with the fact that Zhang Fei was compared with Tadakatsu in history. The reason he was is because ZF was one of the most powerful warriors in 3K era who was loyal to Liu Bei, and with the pro-Shu portrayals, that's probably why no-one was compared to Lu Bu, who had no redeeming quality other than his strength.

This is just in history. People take things too literally.

Now, in the KOEI universe, Zhang Fei is not particularly special compared to other fighters. So I don't know why this Tadakatsu = Zhang Fei comparison is being made. Guan Yu has had a more fearsome role in DW compared to ZF.

I don't even need to argue this, because Koei basically agrees with me.
You can partially blame WO2 for that. Last I remembered, Tadakatsu and Zhang Fei had a cut scene together, and a LOT of people mistook that for 'Tadakatsu is the counterpart to Zhang Fei LOLOLOLOLOL'. Also, their daughters seem to share that little bond (even though I prefer Ina/SSX over Ina/Xing Cai anyday), too, so I guess I can see why some people are more likely to compare Tadakatsu with Zhang Fei than with Lu Bu.

Honestly? I'm going with the more obvious answer, that being Tadakatsu as the Lu Bu of the SW universe. The fact that he's always mega super moraled and has his own theme song seems to indicate that. Though, Koei did throw in a red herring, known as Keiji, because he had his own horse, so I guess I can understand why some people would think that (as well as Tadakatsu not being in SW1...)

But Lu Bu wasn't the only DW character with his own horse. Liu Bei had Hex Mark and Cao Cao had Shadow Runner, and Lu Bu shared his Red Hare with Guan Yu. So the whole 'Keiji has his own horse' argument is debunked right there (Kenshin and Masamune have their own horses too, in case people forgot).
