Having played it, I thought I'd give my take on how the game is. It's much different than 10 while it's interesting in it's own right, there is somethings that were good additions to the game and some that made me scratch my head. My ratings system: *= Ugh, don't put this back in for 12 **= Ok, but.... ***= Good, but needs something more.. ****= Great bring more stuff like this for 12 *****= Excellent, keep this for 12! Duels- I found that this was one of the best improvements in the series. Unlike 10, where you just stood there and swung away at each other, this time the combatants ride abreast of each other and fight. Much like in the actual story. ***** Debates- Still fun to do, but have changed slightly since 10. Having the models closer to the screen gives a sense of drama especially when your losing or winning. **** Music- Oh! Wow! The score is probably the best thing about the game! Can't really describe it but trust me it's good! ***** Side note: I do have the soundtrack on CD (got it as a bonus when I preordered it) If anyone wants a copy tell me. Though you'd have to tell/show me how I can send it to you (ie. download etc.) Graphics- I loved the 3d rendered map. Also quite impressive was the models for each character. Especially when you made a character you are able show what they look like. ***** CAW(Create a warrior)- This is just fun to mess around with. (I'll use my CAW Zhau Ja or ZJ as an example.) Most of it was the same as 10 but with no 40+ skills. The most noticable improvement is setting of relations. After you set your birth, sex name, model, you can choose your spouse from either history (Diao Chan, or the two Qiaos) or a created wife/ husband. On the next screen after pushing the R1 button, You can set who your officer is close to and you can even set sworn siblings(Liu Bei has Guan Yu and Zhang Fei as his) Turning to the next page (R1) You can set who your character likes. For example ZJ, has Zhuge Liang, Zhao Yun, Guan Ping, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei as his. You can have up to five of these. Also on the same page you can set who you dislike ZJ has most of the Cao family as whom he dislikes. Along with Zhang He. Also can be set at five. The rest is similar to 10's CAW system with stats. You can also set which units your good with or bad with 'S' being the best or 'C' being the worst. the six units are Spears, Pikes, Bows, Horses, Weaponry and Navy. Than you can set a skill that your officer is good at. ZJ has 'Chain Attack' Which gives you a 50% chance of attacking again in battle. There are numorous others having to do with other battle skills domestic and even spousal support skills! The rest of CAW is pretty strait forward and is similar to 10 with the exception of how your voice sounds. ***** Gameplay-Much like 9's. I liked 10's gameplay better though. Some like having a choice of choosing to be a vassal and work your way through the ranks of your favorite kingdom or starting as a ruler. Me I like being a vassal. Also, 10 you could pick up and get into it quite quickly with in-game tutorials to help when tried to do something new like dueling. 11 though you have to play through tutorial levels which are almost neccesary to play. Also there are no more cut scenes like in 10. For example Liu Bei's visits to Zhuge Liang are shown with a picture of out side of Zhuge's house and dialog boxes showing what is being said. 10's cut scene was much better at depicting this important event in the story. ** Overview The game is good but I enjoyed playing 10 a lot more. The game is ok for those who like playing this way, but 10 was almost like an RPG which kind of made it a little more fun. I give this game a ***. Did I miss something? Or do you need help with something? Let me know! |
