You know it's funny you ask, I've been working on that recently, realising 3D ones take too much work for the level of motivation I can muster ![]() Not got very far with it, but it's a decent framework I've got ![]() Although technically I have made a few 2D games as assessments during Uni too, also rather basic

Platformer ![]() What I was planning to work on in 3D too, but it really takes a lot of work to set that stuff up ![]() I have the basic stuff setup now (can't go through walls, can pick up items or such, dies to enemies and obstacles, can change levels by either collecting all pickups or reaching the 'end'), but I don't know how to do art stuff so it's all just squares at the moment ![]() Decided to quickly record it and show you, since it's easier to understand that way ![]() So here is that. Green = Player Red = Enemies Yellow = Obstacles (like spikes or stuff, but as a box just) Black = wall/floor/roof Blue = Pickups And as I said, collect all pickups to reach the next stage. Only made 1 level properly, the rest were just testing out level transitioning. Also losing in any level sends you back to level 1 for now too, what happens at the end ![]() It's very basic for sure, but it's the framework for a basic platformer, just need to expand from there

Pretty cool beginning. I'm thinking about creating a 2D game something like Castlevania 2D but my own game tho. I guess you remember the character i drew long ago (The caped one with a horned helmet) Im thinking to make this in a 2D like castlevania style |

The adventure is fantasy medieval age of course, with dragons ![]() I also have a story in the mind for this character. Actually, he is known as ''The Dragon Warrior'' ![]() Also, my idea about the helmet thing is something like transformation, the armors and the greatsword he will have are kind of ''Legendary'' items he takes in a place like a mountain-cave. or something like that. He won't have these stuffs from the beginning. I have this idea long ago tho. It's like since 2011 I wanted to do it. |

Unity is a nice free one, I've used it before. It's very user friendly. Unreal Engine 4 is another one that works similarly, it's more advanced so harder to get used to, but can perform better also, however it's primarily for 3D. The one I am using right now is Game Maker, it's quite expensive though (I got it in a bundle for cheap myself) |

I'm still just learning how making games works for this project step by step by myself. I would like to start with a 2D first, then if I ever learned how to make 3D I may do it. |

Well good luck, not sure how hard it would be to get into it without any real experience coding ![]() It may not really require coding to work in Unity, but the methods are derived from coding, so it helps a lot to know it ![]() Plus some more advanced things need coding anyway.

There are some tutorials in YT which is very useful. I learned lot of stuffs by my own such as making signatures, drawings and other stuffs
