I wondered about that, seeing as how they die in the PW games, but wasn't sure if they just magically appear again sometime later like everyone else seems to do. Same here. Sometimes I'll squeeze in 2-3 more per day though and sacrifice my gaming time and even manga reading time to just watch more episodes. On weekends, I binge like crazy. So I've been watching for a while now (just finished episode 189), and here are some thoughts about it: - Most arcs have had a good story that has kept me hooked. I'd say Baratie, Loguetown, Alabasta and Jaya arcs have probably been my favorites so far. Arlong Park arc was great too, but the pacing could've been better, which brings me to my next point... - Pacing. It's horrible at times. A lot of time I feel there's almost no progress made in the story of the episode. There's been a lot of episodes that focus only one fightning and it feels like the story isn't going anywhere for a long time. Since this seems to be an even larger problem in future episodes, I don't get why won't they just produce the anime episodes in longer intervals? I haven't really watched any other anime series, but is it really like this in all others as well? - Is Skypiea arc supposed to be this dull? It feels like a long filler and focuses on characters that I have hard time caring about. Like, isn't is just a lie when the opening shows Straw Hats then none of them won't appear in the episode at all? I'm almost done with this arc but it feels they could've compressed it to like 1/3 of its length. Sometimes I simply skip over some part of episodes in cases like that because I feel like absolutely nothing interesting is happening. - I'm excited to see Water 7 and Enies Lobby arcs next soon because they were probably my favorite part of the story in PW3. Maybe Skypiea is just a low point in the story or something |

In the long running series pacing problems are pretty big. They are not stopping becaue they are bringing money. I'd recommend to watch One Piece fuly till time-skip and then start watching by skipping trough episodes. There are some great parts, but you'll need to survive trough the endless dragging. Skypea isn't really the lowest part of the story. It's the most forgettable one (not counting fillers). The dubious honor of being the worst canon part of One Piece belongs to the Fishmen Island, IMO. There's also a Dressrosa arc, that has just ended in anime. It has overstayed it's welcome for way too long, but it had some really amazing moments, so it can be forgiven. P.S. Water 7 and Enies Lobby are best arcs of One Piece. I've been a fan of the series for about a year now when I started with Pirate Warriors 3 and really made a good decision picking it up. It's one of my favorite PS4 games so far and made me interested in both anime & manga. Glad to see it's not ending any time soon yet, over 1/3 still left in the story is plenty. |

Got through the Water 7 arc in the anime finally and just barely started the Thriller Bark arc. The Water 7 arc wasn't all that great, honestly. Far too dragged out, which is what killed it the most. Though because of it, Franky is one of my favorite Straw Hat pirates now, aside from Zoro and Usopp. I'm itching to get to the Impel Down and Marineford arcs, so my patience is running thin with all the filler episodes. Purchased the 2 manga box sets that are out now and will also purchase the third box set when it's released on October 4th of this year. I really want that third box set....something tells me I'll be able to read through the mangas way faster than watching the anime episodes, and I'm really trying to get this over with so I can get to all the One Piece games I've purchased and have all just been sitting there. Sure, I could go ahead and play the games, but I like seeing the anime/manga first BEFORE having everything spoiled from the games. I've been gradually beating PW3 as I progress in watching the anime, and intentionally stopping my progress in the game so I can catch up in the anime before going to the next arc. Haven't even touched World Red yet, or Unlimited Adventure on the wii, or even Grand Adventure on the PS2. Though I know those games don't really associate with the cannon story of the anime, but I still want to recognize all the characters I see in them at least. I'm just OCD like that...I have to do everything in order. Anyway, back to the Water 7 arc.... Spoiler: click to toggle Edited by Lion_Of_Sagami, Wed Aug 31, 2016 6:55 am.

I'm still on Long Ring Long Land arc, just watched episode 220. I feel like Skypiea arc was sort of the low point and it somewhat made me lose interest in watching the anime, but it did get a bit better towards the end and now this arc seems to be quite good. Interesting plot twist where all Straw Hats except Robin lose their memories... gonna look forward to how that turns out.

I actually thought the Skypiea arc was okay, though the arcs seem to get more and more dragged out as you keep watching the anime. Water 7 felt like a chore to watch...I believe the entire arc alone was like over 100 episodes...WAY too long. Thriller Bark definitely piqued my interest and that one was really fun to watch. Perona is an entertaining character, plus Brook's backround story was AMAZING and really hit me hard emotionally. Even made me shed a few tears at one point. Sabaody was a good arc too, and definitely Impel Down and Marineford arcs. Seeing Crocodile as a good guy was just...total badassery. Fishman island was extremely dull and also a chore to watch, but now on Punk Hazard arc currently and things are getting VERY interesting, especially since Smoker is one of the key main characters of the arc. I've been holding off on video games for the past couple of months just to dedicate my weekends to pure binge watching the series. I also try to get a few extra episodes in during the week at home after work and another extra one or two 5 days a week while on the treadmill at the gym, lol. I'm just trying to burn through the entire series to get it done and over with so 1. I can play the games without spoilers and with full understanding of the series, and 2. can move on to watching other animes I haven't seen yet, like Attack on Titan, Berserk, Bleach, Hunter X Hunter, Erased, Soul Eater, etc. Currently on episode 595 of One Piece...I'm so damn close to finishing the series, I can smell it!

You've watched a huge amount of episodes in such a short time! I only watch about one episode on average per day. I really wish I had more time to watch the anime.Nice to hear a lot of arcs you've watched (that I haven't seen yet) have been great I'But yeah it might be good to hold off playing PW games if you don't want to spoil the story. I had it sort of reverse... I got into the franchise by playing PW3 so I already kinda know the rough outline for each arc. But the stages in the game only scratch the surface, really, and naturally omit a lot of stuff. So I do have incentive to watch the anime even after playing PW3 a lot haha.

yeah... I pretty much committed myself to One Piece completely until I finish watching the entire series. It's literally ALL I do with my free time now, and haven't gone out on weekends for the past couple of months just to commit to binge watching marathons of 20+ episodes in one weekend day. Every Friday after work and the gym, I do a little grocery shopping for healthy food and snacks to munch on for the weekend lol. Berries, nuts, carrots, etc. At work during breaks and lunches or downtime, I mostly play my app games on my phone, one of which is One Piece: Treasure Cruise(really great game to pass the time with), but when at home, after I take a shower, I'll check forum websites like these real quick and respond and such, maybe check a couple of youtuber channels I'm subscribed to, but after that...I try to get in at least 2-3 episodes before I go to bed, sometimes I get up to 4 or 5, but procrastinate sleep in doing so. Once I'm done with the series, I have plenty of One Piece games to happily indulge in. PW3, World Red, Unlimited Cruise 1 and 2 on emulator, Unlimited Adventure, Grand Adventure, and Grand Battle on my DS emulator on my phone. I'll finally have the time to maybe make some more youtube gaming vids on my channel as well, and have plenty of manga and comic books reading to catch up on as well. I pretty much put EVERYTHING I do as a pass time activity on hold strictly for One Piece, lol.

I see Are you planning to buy Burning Blood, btw? I don't think the game is worth buying at full-price, but I'd recommend to grab it if it's on sale, because while it's somewhat online-oriented, it does have pretty fun offline content. And it does have pretty good roster for the start of a possible series too.I'm also quite into One Piece again, I've been playing PW3 and BB recently (a while ago platinumed both of them too). I also bought volume 37 just today on a my way home. It was really a random purchase, I didn't even look what the volume actually was, it just had Franky and Iceburg on the cover so I think it'd be fun because Franky is suuuper awesome I also had that One Piece Treasure Cruiser on my mobile, but it took so much memory space I more or less had to delete it It was quite fun for what I played.

IF I ever get around to buying a PS4, then yes, Burning Blood would be one of the first games I buy, along with Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven, Mad Max, the FF7 remake, FF15 and that Friday the 13th game. However, a PS4 is definitely not on my "things-to-buy" list just yet. October 4th the third manga box set of One Piece comes out, which I'll be getting, followed by Jojonium(Jojo's Bizarre Adventure manga English remake series) Part 3 Volume 1 will be coming out November 1rst, also need a new bookshelf to house all these new mangas(already got 2 bookshelves full... ), Comikaze on Halloween weekend, not sure what I'm gonna buy there, but will most likely be a lot of X-Men, Batman, Punisher or Guardians of the Galaxy comics. Also need a new PS3 with more GB storage, currently have a 120 gig one, but it's nowhere near enough memory to have all my KOEI games downloaded on there at the same time. Need at least 500 gigs or more. Also got my eye on a new leather jacket I really want, a couple of Sullen brand shirts, and of course, a Crocodile cosplay outfit for anime expo next year. There are far more mangas I wish to collect as well, namely the Naruto series, Bleach, Berserk, Death Note(I actually bought the whole box set of this one at the last anime expo, but someone stole my bag when I wasn't looking >< $95 bucks down the drain.. ), and quite a few others. In the meantime, I have J-stars Victory Vs, which is arguably similar to BB, just not as many OP characters, of course, but just as entertaining, and has a lot of other fav characters of mine from other anime series I like. Can you level up in BB, by the way? I'm curious if it has a similar level up system as Grand Battle and Grand Adventure? Treasure Cruise is a lot of fun, I finally made it to the Alabasta arc in that game and gonna try to grind for Crocodile. I already have Smoker(which took me forever to get), so once I have Crocodile, I'll pretty much have my main team set, until I get Franky or Brook. Right now, I have Zoro as my leader, followed by Luffy, Smoker, Usopp and Sanji. When I get Crocodile, I'll ditch Sanji, and if I get Franky or Brook, I'll swap out Luffy for one of them. Still gonna keep all of them, of course, since the difficulty gets higher as you progress, the game becomes more strategic with the different characters' abilities. |

Yeah, there are levels in Burning Blood. When you win a battle, your team will gain experience, and then ALL others not part of it will gain some too (even though they didn't participate in the battle). And should you lose, there is a very marginal amount of experience gain too, but it's hardly anything. The experience depends on the star difficulty of the Wanted Poster. So 1 star WPs gives only a little while 10 star WPs give tons of experience. It also depends on how many teams you are facing, since some of the later WPs (from around 7 or 8 onward) occasionally pit you against 2 or 3 teams rather than the usual 1. Don't worry though, the difficulty isn't linearly scaled as their stats are somewhat weaker if they outnumber your team. ![]() As for what levels in general do, they just increase your damage output and your HP. So it's not really that interesting... if you're a trophy hunter and want to go for platinum you have to grind a little for one character to reach level 10, though. |

What's the level cap? It sounds a lot like J-Stars Victory vs's leveling system. Same kind of stat boosts too. Level cap in J stars was 50, plus there was a somewhat interesting card equipping mechanic, where you could equip up to 6-8 cards,I believe, and each card offers extra bonuses or abilities and some cards were character specific. Does BB have an equipping system like that too? |

It's 10. But it doesn't grant anything special other than that one trophy. The levels really just increase your damage output and reduce the damage you take. You can select up to 3 Support Characters, which basically act as items (they're just 2D images). They either 1) grant automatic abilities like extra HP, a free team attack that doesn't cost Burning gauge, extend duration of Ultimate mode etc. or 2) let you manually boost your characters for a set amount of times like not get stunned from attacks in a while. In case you're more interested in the game, you might wanna check the review in my signature that I've written It also explains the points system that's related to the battle and support characters.

Just read your review. The story mode sounds like it's pretty disappointing, and the fact that the game is mainly geared towards online content is pretty much what I figured after seeing a trailer on the game's features. A fighting game where you JUST fight, is a lame fighting game, in my opinion. I'm not a hardcore fighting game junkie anymore, but I used to be one when I was younger, and I remember always appreciating fighting games that added more "meat to the bones" so to speak. Where the game would have extra, interesting and entertaining game modes that are separate from the typical arcade/vs/training modes. People who deem themselves as "true fighting game fans" will argue with me on this point and point their finger at me and state that I was never a "true" fighting game fan if I actually LIKED those game modes that added variety to the game...which is ridiculous, IMO. A couple examples of fighting games with more "meat on the bones" would be Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle, for one. The story mode was pure dialogue with no cut scenes, the online was laggy as hell, but the gameplay as well as the campaign mode was that game's saving grace for me. A lot of people hated on the campaign mode, but I personally thought it brought far more variety to the game, and even to this day, I still occasionally go back and play it. The campaign mode was all about random events, though it seems repetitive on the surface, and all you're doing is fighting "bosses" to drop medals and gain campaign rank points, the mode itself keeps things interesting with its random events that pop up. These events could grant special bonuses, refill your stamina, damage your enemy, or sometimes you may end up fighting against another player's AI controlled character(which they choose who their avatar is, what clothes to wear and have their own customized taunts and victory poses). A better example would be Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Had TWO massive story modes with multiple branches, and Golden Arena mode which was a dungeon-based survival mode where you gain XP and level up/learn new abilities just like the RPG games of the series. Anyway, I'm running off topic here, so I'll get back to it: If you enjoyed BB, I highly recommend playing Grand Battle on the DS. A much better leveling system, no story, but instead plays more like Super Mario Bros. 3. Where you have a big, stage-based, map to clear for each "world", and each stage is loosely based off the order of the events that transpired in the series and have various conditions to 100% clear them and unlock secret stages/more characters in the process. You start with only Luffy, and unlock more and more characters as you progress. The fighting is similar to Super Smash Bros, except you have a life bar and super meters. Also, there IS a bit of cut scene-ish dialogue for some of the stages, some of which is pretty entertaining. Though yeah...that's probably the best way I can describe it; a Super Mario Bros 3 game with Super Smash Bros style fighting for its stages and has standard RPG mechanics with customizable stat points. |

You'll see some other characters die later in the anime too.

LOVE the new pirate ship and it only makes me like Franky even more, since he made it! Luffy's new "second" and "third" gears are pretty interesting, but now I'm curious as to how he fights even harder foes than Lucci later down the line...he seems to have pushed his body to the limit with those gears and it's not like a "super saiyan" form or anything....so I'm curious to see how the fights play out later down the line. Zoro is still awesome and hilarious. And Sogeking....was "meh". Not a big fan of the Sogeking look, though the theme song was funny, especially when Usopp sang it out loud.
I still like plain old Usopp better though.
