Lu Bu is a total beast. Did you have trouble... and see his C1?! :o
I had loads of trouble. He didn't flinch under any of my attacks, even my True Musou (which, well, I used a lot given how quickly he depleted my health  ).

As for his C1...I'm guessing that's his huge shockwave? I haven't unlocked him yet so I don't really know his moveset (and I'm guessing it's probably a little different to his DW4/DW5 movesets).
He stomps on the ground causing huge damage sending a 360 degree range and auto-knocking you and officers off-guard. I really wish for it to be put back in.

That's probably the one I was thinking of then. ;)

I suppose if the DW series kept Renbu, it would fit in nicely to the "hold charge-button" attack slot.

Its likely his greatest move of all-time. Also the cheapest to spam, totally cheap...

Did he by chance heal when fighting him? Usually does it when your knocked down.

Hmm...can't say I noticed it.

He probably did at some point though, most enemies that take me a while to defeat try healing at one point or another.

Edit
And on that note, one random officer just tried healing himself after I'd been fighting him for about 5 seconds. :P I guess healing is based entirely on health then, no matter how long an officer has been fighting for.

I felt like playing DW3 earlier and I did. I have 2 comments on it. First, I've noticed that I actually like some of the voices for the characters. The acting itself was dreadful (it's probably the worst voice acting I've ever heard in any video game), but the voices themselves on some aren't bad. I can say that I really like Yuan Shao's, and I like Lu Bu's, Lu Meng's, Huang Gai's, & Meng Huo's voices in DW3. But the rest of them are awful. And second, I remembered that Hu Lao Gate in DW3 is the only battle I'd rather play in DW3 over DW4. DW3 doesn't really have anything going for it in my eyes except for Hu Lao Gate. That map is awsome.

Lu Bu's voice is very deep in DW3, but I've liked his DW4 voice the most.

Yuan Shao's DW3 voice was okay, his 5 voice fitted his comical attitude in the game, and 6 was an okay change. Still, I'd like his DW5 voice to return, I still think it could fit his appearance.

Meng Huo just has always had one of those loveable voices in the series. I hope he has it in DW6E.

I completely agree. I don't like those DW3 voices more than their newer ones (Yuan Shao's DW5 VA was incredible, Huang Gai's DW4 voice was awsome and while I like his current one I wish that one comes back, Meng Huo's is great, & Lu Bu's DW4 and current voice is phenomenal). But for DW3 itself, I don't hate them like I do the rest of the cast.

I preferred his voice in 4, it's different in 5. I loved his tune and appearance the most in 4 also. It took me a bit of time to get use to the body physics as well since in 3 he would run near enough with his back straight lol (same with Gan Ning.) As in 4 his height showed and his back is much more arched.

DW3:XL was my favorite DW game until I got tired of playing it so much. I think it has the best storyline comparing to all DW games because it changes the destiny of the main warriors. It was awesome!!! :D

My friend let me borrow his copy of the game. Played it after WO2, so imagine my surprise when I saw a very familiar (named) person in the cast ;-) Fun game. I like how colorful it is. Once I got Sima Yi unlocked (I either used cheat codes or Codebreaker if those don't actually work), I was playing with him and was a little surprised, as I know his JP voice actor's laugh very well and his English VA laugh was...the same laugh. Turned the audio over to JP (I wish they'd put this option back into the games) and the laugh was the same. Did his JP voice actor do his English voice too?

Also, I think in some way, the graphics in this game remind me of old pre-Luclin EQ (not really sure why). I think that's one of the reasons I like it. As for difficulty, it does seem like it would be really easy to get killed (just based on watching my health bar through various fights, though I just did YTR again and Zhang Jiao at the end of the level was a real pain for me at first until I was able to combo him to death). Later levels are not going to be fun for me I bet >_<

Need to get my own copy of this. Is the XL worth buying as well (provided I can find it)? Thanks :)

Edit: Oh I tried jacking Liu Bei's horse. That..was not a good idea O_O Did they do that so you wouldn't take AI ally horses or do all horses do that?

Of course, XL is the way to fully enoy DW3's glory! I would say the same with 4XL and 5XL, though.

Seriously, you can get the extra weapons that way, being challenged is extremely fun, slash tedious. Plus it gives you extra items, those unaligned stories, and a harder difficulty. Well worth it.

You got chucked off the Hex Mark horse? Because you need to build up your rank to mount the special horses. :)

Thanks for the reply, LDZ :)

Hmm...so 3XL has missions sort of like the legends in 5XL? I really liked the creativity of some of the 5XL missions (like the one with the wives...it was fun how you could fight the other couples when you got near them). Something I might indeed have to look into when I'm not so broke (I have plenty of DW to keep me busy for now thankfully).

Also, slightly off topic, but DW2 doesn't have an XL, correct? I just want that one for the nostalgia (reconfirmed tonight it was my first DW game by Youtubing YTR).

Yeah it was Hex. I didn't know you needed to be a certain rank to ride specials on that one. Two more questions on horses/mounts:

1)If I have a fresh character with the lowest rank, can they ride any horses or just not the specials?

2)If you have a saddle for a special horse (I'd swear the game has saddles, but my memory isn't always the best), can you use it with a fresh character or will you get bronco buster results, too? ;-)

Thanks for the replies! :)

1. 3XL gives the ''Others'' a story mode. Lu Bu, Zhang Jiao, etc. These characters never had one until 3XL.

2. Legend Mode was first introduced in the DW series in 4XL.

3. Dynasty Warriors 2 is a standalone game.

4. I think they will keep getting chucked off, you need to build your rank system by getting more EXP points (Left General, etc). Though IIRC Lu Bu can instantly mount his Red Hare, so I think there's special cases.

5. Once you have the saddle equipped you can mount with no hassle.

Thanks again for the reply, LDZ. :)

Also, does 3XL have anything custom sort of like the edit warriors from 4 and 5XL?

I do believe after I have supper I'm gonna pop DW3 in. I haven't explored much of it anyway. I noticed I was working on Sima Yi's musou mode (I don't even remember starting it). So I'll work on him some more (had Xiahou Dun's started, too).

And so far, the only thing I don't like on the game: every time you complete a free mode level, you see a game over screen. Don't really care for that, but at least the screen is character specific (I like Sima Yi's artwork). I realize that gives it sort of an arcade feel by doing that, but I'm still not that fond of it.

There is no edit mode except for editing your bodyguards.

And that's quite annoying yeah. Though I also thought saving and getting kicked back to the menu was too. But that was later fixed in the series.

I loved both DW3 and DW3 Xtreme Legends!! I did not notice until a long time that in Xtreme Legends you can change the color of the character's costumes!! X3 That was awesome!! And I loved Da Qiao's blue dress!! But I was sort of hoping there would be more in Xtreme Legends with big new levels and different music and more cut scenes. @.@

Archer Bodyguards on Support = Awesome.

I remember loving Sima Yi in DW3, but anything 4 and after, I didn't like him so much - instead of having weak attacks, but super powerful lasers, he had really strong attack, and moderately powerful lasers, which was a poor trade off. Him and Zhuge Liang.

Ma Chao - his awesome armour, and that 5th Weapon, fantastico. Something of that difficulty needs to be brought back, IMHO.
