i feel bad for Zhou Yu. I'm reading the Three Kingdoms and i just finished Zhou Yu's death. The poor guy was like a puppet for Zhuge Liang. Whatever he said, Zhuge Liang knew it already.. |

Yes, me too, I feel sad for him... Especially the part where Zhuge Liang is mocking him, at his funeral
and made a show of deeply mourning for him

Zhou Yu was very smart except he wasn't as smart as Zhuge Liang, I sort of agree with what ZHou Yu said b4 he died, "O God, since you made Zhou Yu, why did you also create Zhuge Liang?" That's sort of true.... |

It's funny how Zhuge Liang tricked Wu right after Zhou Yu's death. At his funeral, Zhuge Liang was mourning heavily for Zhou Yu, and everyone pretty much fell for it. Well, almost everyone. The next person that approached Zhuge Liang didn't fall for it, but then again, it was Pang Tong. |

Zhou Yu wasn't the petty, sneaky person the novel made him out to be. He was actually quite respectful of Zhuge. However, I believe his Two Kingdoms plan (Wei vs. Wu, which had taken Shu) was very risky. I feel bad for him, but I also feel that Lu Su was a much better Big Cheese than he was. |

But when Zhou Yu labeled Zhuge Liang "crazy" for being able to summon the winds at Chi Bi, did Zhou Yu send his officers for Zhuge Liang's head? |

No. Actually, they were both aware that the wind would blow. Apparently, Zhou Yu had learned it from a fisherman (and we all know how reliable that is). Luo Guanzhong strikes again. Hey, you could fit "Guan Yu killed Hua Xiong" in his last name if you want. |

*sigh* Luo Guanzhong tweaked and tampered with the entire thing! And I bet the little scene after Guan Yu possesses Lu Meng after Fancheng happened too. Wait a sec...Oh, never mind. What else did Luo Guanzhong mess with here? |

Basically he made Cao Cao seem like a cheap rip-off. Every good plan his advisor proposes is met by "Hey, I was thinking that too!". Even his own plans are made to seem like they're proposed by an advisor. |

Not just Cao Cao. Cao Pi did that also. Cao Cao: "What you say is what I think." Cao Pi: "You but say what I think." Is that what you meant? |

Hmm Guanzhong also made Sima Yi look like an idiot compared to ZGL, Zhang Fei a drunkard who got strategies once in a while, and Dong Zhuo a tyrannical bast***(i dont kno if this is historically true) |

Well, Dong did set Luo Yang on fire. And have Li Ru bump off the Emperor and Empress. And controlled the other emperor like a puppet. But other than that, he was as nice as a guy could be. Ignoring, of course, all evidence to the contrary.

I don't feel the least bit bad for him. He tried many times to assassinate Zhuge, often at the risk of failure at Chi Bi. He even planned to have Liu Bei killed, but was afraid of Guan Yu. His death was the inevitable consequence of his spite and pettiness, and Zhuge mocked him because that pettiness had been expected. |

Basically, Haragei, you're saying that Zhou Yu was too bold for his own welfare, or something along those lines, right? Guan Yu's name must've not spread that far; otherwise, Zhou Yu wouldn't have attempted an assassination on him! |

Historically, he didn't try to assassinate Zhuge. He respected him quite a bit. Keep in mind that's during the same part as the summoning of the wind. |

actually I agree.. Zhou Yu is one of my favorite officers in the three kingdoms, but he is absolutely right.... whatever Zhou Yu said Zhuge Liang knew already( kind of reminds of the part in Dodgeball when Ben Stiller says " oh i don't know you thought what i think you thought that i.. ok i'm confusing myself... something like that)... |

I think Zhou Yu was one of the greatest generals of the era being behind Cao Cao and a few others. Thanks to Luo Guanzhong he gets a bad image as the guy who was always a step behind Zhuge Liang. I'm of the opinion though that even historically Zhou Yu will always be that guy who won Chi Bi though. |
