I think Yukimura also managed to repel Maeda Toshitsune using it. the sanada-maru was more of a fort than a castle or barbican. "Maru" could also mean fort. |

No. Maru was a term for 'castle' which means that it was a fort-like castle. |

It was a barbican. I don't know why you guys were arguing that. It wasn't a barricade. It was a small fortress type thing set up outside Osaka to stop the Tokugawa from getting in. It worked like a charm.

Your right, it is a ''barbican.'' But I'm not really sure if it was really effective against the Tokugawa, so they devestate the invaders then what? They're already surrounded by Tokugawa domain all over Japan. Tokugawa could've actually fired those 300 cannons and Osaka castle would be put to ruins along with Hideyori. |

I think he was great. I can't imagine what he was doing that he could die from tiredness, how many enemies were killed by him. Some commmanders often only stayed in the main camp, watching the fight from far far away and it seemed Sanada wasn't that type of general. Toyotomi's lost wasn't showing his incapability. It was because he died, and it showed how much the soldiers depended on him. |

Please don't act like a child. This isn't a creche or a montessori, I'm sure proper facilities can be arranged some time in the future. Yukimura attempetd to kill Ieyasu and almost succeeded. |

But even if Yukimura killed Ieyasu the Tokugawa may lived on because it is said that the Ieyasu at Osaka was an impostor. |
